Feedback Request looking for feedback on my daily puzzle game, especially the difficulty curve and mobile controls

hey all, I've been building Tilt, a daily puzzle on devvit and I'd really like some outside eyes on it. you tilt the board, every block slides until it hits something, same colors that touch vanish, and you try to clear it in as few moves as possible. today's puzzle is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/TiltDaily/s/uIyWhvy7A4

quick context on how it works: levels are generated from the date and a BFS solver checks each one is solvable and sets the par, difficulty goes up from monday to sunday. there's also a level editor where players can publish their own levels, weekly and monthly challenges, and monthly seasons with ranks

the stuff I'm not sure about and would love opinions on:

is the "how to play" screen enough to get the rules without trying first? a couple of people got confused by the gray stones that never disappear

does the difficulty feel right? monday is like 3 moves and sunday around 11, I don't know if the jump in the second half of the week is too steep

how do the swipes feel on mobile? I'm using pointer events on the whole game area and sometimes I wonder if it eats scroll gestures on smaller screens

and on the dev side, I'm running the solver client side for the editor and hints (under half a second even on 8x8 boards). would you move that to the server or is client side fine for this kind of thing?

any feedback welcome, even harsh stuff, thanks!

Feedback Request made a daily climber where everyone's falls rebuild the tower. just got through app review

it's called Fallstack. one tower per day per sub, everybody climbs the same one, and every fall gets written back into it. short jumps pile up into footholds, wall smacks leave one-use ghost platforms, overshoots leave crumbling cursed bricks. clean climbs calm a section back down.

play it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/fallstack/comments/1xg54ds/fallstack_daily_tower_20261026_rfallstack/

a few build notes in case anyone's doing something similar:

- phaser only loads in the expanded view. the inline post is a plain splash so the feed stays light

- redis stores counters per jump, not a list of falls. the client works out what to draw from the counts, so storage stays tiny no matter how many people fall

- realtime only sends a "something changed" ping. the client refetches and waits until you've landed before moving anything, so a ledge never shifts mid-jump

- the daily post is a scheduler job behind a redis SET NX lease, so the cron and the mod menu can't both post the same day

it's playable but rough, especially on phones. any feedback helps. and if you've grown a game past your own sub I'd really like to hear what worked for you.

Duck Answered Reddit Developer Funds Payouts

Hello Devvit devs!

Wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Developer Funds payouts so far.

My game reached Tier 1 in September based on the numbers I see in App Analytics, I've enrolled for payments, yet I have received no news from Reddit in those 15 days after month end. It’s 11 days later and still nothing.

The game also sees constant high number of players that will probably put it decently high up the recurring payments tier, yet I have no way of joining that until Tier 1 is cleared.

I've also written a separate mod mail regarding this and asked in another mod mail thread. I have received an answer that notifications are delayed but I still don’t know if the game is eligible for payouts.

I want to allow more user generated content but for this I need external storage which I was planning on acquiring with the funds. I also wanted to introduce some IAP but I’m not confident in Reddit’s payout schedule given what I’ve experienced so far.

Can anyone share their experience? What can I expect going forward?

Discussion One button, two meanings: how would you teach jumping and flips in a Devvit game?

I’m working on Poudreuse, a free skiing game inside a Reddit post, with substantial Codex help for the code and Canvas art.

One button does two jobs: hold on the ground, then release to jump. Hold in the air to rotate, then release before landing. Early feedback was pretty clear: people could play, but didn’t always understand why flips mattered or what ended a run.

Version 0.0.23 went live today. The start screen now explains the three-minute limit, landed flips and the avalanche. Notifications sit off to the side, and there’s an optional 45-second practice without the avalanche. That addresses the instructions; I still need to work on the reason to come back.

I read the recent launch-friction discussion here. My question is about what happens after the expanded game opens: would you teach the two inputs through a couple of safe, guided jumps before introducing the avalanche, or keep practice optional and get straight into a normal run? I haven’t compared those approaches yet.

If you’ve made a Devvit game with a hold/release control, I’d love an example of how you handled that first minute.

Duck Answered Site-wide bots that read r/all have no Devvit path. What happens to them in March?

I run 4 registered Data API bots. All 4 read every new comment on r/all [link to GitHub], then act in the subreddit a comment mentions:

• u/AutoCrosspostBot: about 3 months later, crossposts the submission to the suggested subreddit and replies.

• u/sub_doesnt_exist_bot: checks the subreddit with search, then replies to the comment.

• u/same_subreddit_bot: replies to the comment.

• u/same_post_bot: checks the target subreddit with search and duplicates(), then replies to the comment.

They are written in Python and use PRAW 8, with script apps and a PostgreSQL history.

What blocks a port to Devvit:

• Triggers fire only in subreddits that installed the app. I found no RedditClient listing of new comments for a subreddit or for r/all.

• Whether an app may reply or crosspost in a subreddit that never installed it is undocumented.

• The PRAW migration guide lists "one bot process across all of Reddit from your VPS" as a gap and says to design for subreddit-scoped installs. These bots act in subreddits that never invited them, so a scoped version would do almost nothing.

• Smaller gaps: a full rewrite from Python to TypeScript, and PostgreSQL history moved to Redis.

In April u/pl00h wrote that Reddit is "definitely thinking about global apps".

Two questions:

  1. What happens to registered apps that cannot migrate when the Data API closes in March 2027?
  2. Is there a timeline for global apps or Reddit-wide comment triggers?

Is anyone else running site-wide bots in the same spot?

Bug Toast appearance 'success' not working

I am following the menu response examples (Hono) and setting appearance 'success' does not appear to be working. The toast displays successfully, but the shows up in the 'Default gray appearance for general notifications' not the 'Green appearance for successful operations' styling. Anyone else confirm this?

Feedback Request Feedback request: Pawdoku Mystery 2.0 — every case scene and character redrawn

We just shipped 2.0. The short version: the art is new, the onboarding is

different, and the board underneath is untouched.

What's actually new:

- Every case scene and character was redrawn from scratch — same scenes, same

characters, but this is a second pass rather than a touch-up.

- Lighting and palette were reworked across all boards. The old ones were dark

and flat, which made the whole thing harder to read than it needed to be.

- The intro is skippable in one tap now. That one came directly from playtesting

feedback; it was the highest-value fix in this release.

- Onboarding is shorter. You're on a real board faster than before.

What stayed the same, on purpose:

One bandit per row, column and coloured region, no two touching, every board

solvable by pure deduction — no guessing, no hints required. That rule set is the

product. Changing it would have been the lazy way to look like a new version.

The thing I'm still unsure about is the second layer. Finishing a mainline level

earns a clue toward the case you're working on; when you have the full set, the

case unlocks and you place the suspects and the victim on the same board. Same

grid, second question.

Last round the feedback was that this layer appears out of nowhere. I moved the

first clue onto the win screen so it lands as a promise rather than a surprise.

Whether that actually works is the thing I can't judge from the inside.

So: two questions.

  1. If you play one board today, does the clue you earn mean anything to you at

that point — or is it just a number going up?

  2. For anyone who shipped a 2.0: how did you decide what to leave alone? I cut a

lot of things I was attached to, and I'm not sure I cut the right ones.

Today's case, one board, no account:

Duck Answered PostDelete and hold posts

I developed a bot for subs that have "hold posts" turned on. The bot comments in every post, and should delete its comment when the post is approved/deleted. However, I can't seem to get it to do that. PostDelete fires immediately on every post because of the "hold posts" feature, and this seems to prevent any future automated action on the comment from the bot.

Has anyone figured out a solution for this?

As a stopgap I implemented a scheduler to check the status of each held post periodically. This is working but not an ideal solution.

Discussion Devvit AI Helper token limit?

I noticed they've added AI to the dev section. It's actually been fairly helpful. However, after asking it a few things I get We noticed unusual activity. Please try asking your question again. I got it yesterday, figured I'd wait until today and try again. It worked today for a little while, then I got the same thing.

Is there a token limit that's not being mentioned?

Feedback Request Megathread Keeper: a free mod tool for bursts of similar posts

Hi, I'm wookdev. I built Megathread Keeper for the moments when a patch, episode, match, or announcement fills a subreddit with similar posts.

It watches for bursts and sends the mod team a modmail. If the team approves, it creates and pins a megathread, then unpins it after the chosen window.

Matching posts are reported by default. Mods can instead choose a link comment, or a link comment followed by removal. It doesn't remove posts unless the team selects that mode.

It's free. It keeps post IDs, titles, and timestamps for eight days, and nothing from other subreddits.

https://developers.reddit.com/apps/megathread-keeper

I'd like feedback from mods who already manage these spikes: where would this fit alongside your current megathreads? I'm happy to help with installation.

Help How do I delete my app from Devvit?

Hi! I'm the developer of a Devvit app and I've archived it, but I want to delete it completely. I can't find a delete option on the app page. How can I delete an app, and what happens to its installs when I do?

Thanks!

Help How to get devvit support?

An app I created for use in r/AskMechanics is down. My sub and many other subs depend on this app and it is currently down due to an issue with the app user.

Is there any way to get in touch with support other than through messaging the moderators here? I've never once received a reply for help.

Duck Answered Devvit app not able to fetch sharable reddit post links

I'm building a devvit web app that lets users import one of their existing posts into the app. Users paste a post link, and the server loads it with reddit.getPostById(). If a user is on reddit web they can copy the reddit post link from the url bar.

But on the Reddit mobile app, share > copy link only gives a share link, that has no post id in it. The only way I know to resolve it is to follow the redirect and that gives error as below,

{
  "status": "error",
"message": "2 UNKNOWN: grpc invocation failed with status 2; HTTP request to domain: www.reddit.com is not allowed"
}

Is there any workaround where i can extract the post title, body, image and other details form the sharable link?

Bug Every new install fails: POST .../Installations/Create -> 400 {"code":"invalid_argument","msg":"Something went wrong while installing the app. Please try again.","meta":{}}. Existing upgrades work.

Does anyone have any idea what causes this error on install?

The error message is useless.

The app can update existing installs, but gives this error on new installs.

Help Approved way to share data across subreddits?

According to the redis docs:

If your app needs cross-community data, like a global leaderboard or aggregated analytics, design for that explicitly. Instead of assuming every installation can access the same Redis keys, use a shared service exposed through HTTP Fetch to manage and serve cross-community data.

The domain checker says that same kind of shared service isn't eligible, and twice now my external url request has been denied despite documenting this exact use case in my README.

What's the approved way for an app to send per-subreddit results to a leaderboard shared across communities? Is there something more explicit I can add to the README for a subsequent review, or will it require filing a support ticket or reaching out to the mods on here?

Thanks in advance!

Help subscribeToCurrentSubreddit() fails with "permission not granted" on an approved app. Has anyone got it working?

Hi all! I'm building Hivemind (daily-hivemind), a daily opinion-and-prediction game. I'm trying to add a simple "Join r/…" button so players can join the community from inside the game.

Setup:

- devvit.json declares it under permissions.reddit.asUser: ["SUBMIT_COMMENT", "SUBSCRIBE_TO_SUBREDDIT"]

- Devvit 0.15.0, version 0.0.89, approved by Reddit and installed in r/Hivemind_TheGame

- The button is its own tap: never required, never combined with playing, never rewarded

When a non-member taps it, reddit.subscribeToCurrentSubreddit() throws:

2 UNKNOWN: permission not granted for [SUBSCRIBE_TO_SUBREDDIT]

Same result on our unapproved dev builds. The docs say user actions work for everyone once a version is approved, so I expected it to work on 0.0.89.

Questions:

  1. Has anyone got subscribeToCurrentSubreddit() working for regular players? Did it need a separate request or allowlisting?

  2. Is there a way to check whether a user is already subscribed, so we only show Join to people who aren't?

For now, the button falls back to opening the sub page so people can use Reddit's own Join. Any pointers appreciated, and thanks!

Feedback Request I don't own a PC or laptop 🤧 So I built a full multiplayer chess game for Reddit entirely on my Android phone using Termux. ♟️📱

👋 Hello Devvit Community! 🥹🏁

I’m Aparna, and I recently launched Neon Chess, a real-time multiplayer chess game built natively for Reddit.

But here is the twist: I don't own a PC or a laptop.

Every single line of code, the React frontend, the Hono server, the Redis database logic, and the AI engine, was written and deployed from my Android phone using Termux with a proot Ubuntu container. (My thumbs are very tired 😭).

🎮 What does the app do?

♟️ Neon Chess brings a vibrant, neon-themed chess experience directly into subreddits. It features:

· 🤖 Challenge AI: Play against a custom-built "Neon Engine."

· 👥 Real-Time Multiplayer: Create a private room, share the code, and play against a friend with a server-authoritative 60-second turn timer.

· 🏆 Public Leaderboards: Compete for fastest AI wins and longest survival times.

🛠️ The Tech Stack (Built on Mobile 📱)

· Frontend: React + Vite + Tailwind CSS

· Backend: Hono + Node.js

· Database: Devvit Redis (WATCH/MULTI/EXEC transactions for game state)

· Language: TypeScript

Building this on a phone meant dealing with strict unit tests, JSON parsing errors in the Developer Portal on mobile Chrome, and some wild Redis concurrency races, all without a physical keyboard.

🕹️ How to play & Feedback

Since r/Devvit doesn't allow crossposting, I’d love for you to test it out over at my community: 👉 r/NeonChess 👈

The pinned post there is fully playable.

I would love any feedback on the UI, the multiplayer sync, or the AI difficulty. If you are a mod looking to add an engaging, native game to your sub, you can install it directly from the App Directory!

It's officially approved and live in the App Directory:

https://developers.reddit.com/apps/neon-chess

Thanks for checking out my mobile-built project! 💙♟️✨
