Announcement Welcome to DIG THE GIG — Your underground guide to local music scenes

Post image
1 Upvotes

We're launching DIG THE GIG (https://digthegig.live) — a concert guide focused on local music scenes across cities and countries.

If you've ever tried to keep up with underground gigs, you probably know how difficult it is. Mainstream event platforms rarely list them, and the only way to find out about upcoming shows is to already follow the right promoters, venues, or bands — and even then, announcements easily get lost in your feed.

We want to solve that.

But we don't just want to aggregate events. We want to support independent music scenes and help local artists and promoters find their audience. In the long run, we hope to build stronger connections between scenes in different cities and countries — something more tangible than the traditional "ask a punk."

We're building an international platform where both locals and travelers can find a gig in any city within a minute.

Our focus is live original music of all genres. No DJs, no cover bands, no mainstream pop.

Browse and filter gigs, save your favorites, follow genres, venues, or entire cities, and we'll notify you about new events and any updates to the gigs you've saved. For each filter you subscribe to, you can choose how often you receive notifications: every new gig, a daily digest, or a weekly digest.

We also have Google Calendar integration, so you can keep track of the gigs you want to attend.

Any registered user can submit a gig. If you're in a band, organize events, or simply know about an upcoming show, we'd love for you to add it.

The website also works as a Progressive Web App (PWA), so you can install it on your phone like a regular app and receive push notifications.

Right now it's a basic MVP, but very soon we'll be launching promoter accounts, adding more cities, and introducing plenty of both obvious and unexpected features.

This community is for sharing gigs, discovering bands and venues, talking about local scenes, and helping independent live music reach more people. Wherever you're based, you're welcome here.

If you find a bug or have an idea for improvement, please send us your feedback using the form on the website. We want to build this project as openly as possible.

Any help, support, or contribution is truly appreciated.

And thank you to everyone who made it to the end — and especially to everyone who's joining us on this journey. ❤️

Local Scene Belgrade might be one of Europe's best cities for discovering live music

Maybe a bold take, but Belgrade is an incredible place to discover live music. Small venues, local artists, touring bands, and tickets that can still be surprisingly affordable. You can catch artists on their way up while they are still playing rooms where you can get close to the stage. The energy at a packed little show here is hard to beat.

High Vis at Dorćol Platz this June is a good example. The ticket was about 1,700 RSD, roughly €15. One concertgoer who also saw them in Germany about six months earlier remembered paying around €30 there, and said the two shows had completely different energy. It is just one comparison, but seeing a rising band up close for that price is part of what makes Belgrade special.

The tricky part is finding out about these gigs in time. Announcements are scattered across band and venue pages, and a great show can disappear in the feed before you even see it.

That's why we're building DIG THE GIG, a calendar for independent live music and local scenes. We're collecting gigs in Belgrade and other Serbian cities, with filters for city, date, genre and venue. You can explore it here: https://digthegig.live/gigs?country=serbia

What was the best small gig you've seen in Belgrade lately? Which venues or bands should we be following?

Discussion 👋 Welcome to r/DigTheGig — introduce your local scene

Hey, I'm u/Queasy-Weekend2790, one of the people behind DIG THE GIG. Our first pinned post explains the project; this thread is for meeting the people and places that make local music scenes worth exploring.

Where are you listening from? Tell us your city and one independent band, small venue, promoter, or live-music photographer more people should know. If there's an upcoming show you'd take a friend to, share that too.

This community is for independent live original music across cities and countries. Gig tips, local guides, photos with artist and photographer credits, and honest questions are all welcome. Please be kind, credit creators, and say when you're involved with something you're recommending.

I'll start: I'm excited to discover the places that don't make it onto the big event platforms. What should we listen to in your city?

Announcement Your gigs, your pace — a guide to DIG THE GIG notifications

Want gig alerts without another noisy feed? On DIG THE GIG, you choose what we tell you about, how often, and where it arrives.

First, save the gigs you care about. Sign in at https://digthegig.live, open Gigs, set your location, genres, venues and other filters, then tap “Notify me of new gigs.” When a newly published gig matches your saved filter, we can let you know. You can edit the filter or unsubscribe later in Account settings → Subscription.

For new gigs matching your filter, choose a pace:

• When a gig is added — a separate alert when each matching gig goes live.

• Daily digest — one roundup at 09:00 in your chosen digest timezone, covering the previous calendar day.

• Weekly digest — one roundup on Monday at 09:00, covering the previous Monday through Sunday.

If no new gigs match, there’s no empty digest. You can change the digest timezone in Subscription settings.

In Account settings → Notifications, you can switch three topics on or off independently:

• New gigs matching my subscription.

• Updates to saved gigs — changes to the date, venue, cancellation or availability.

• Saved gig reminders — on the day before a saved gig starts.

Then choose your delivery channels: the in-app bell, email, and push to this device. Each has its own switch. Push must be enabled on each supported device; on iPhone, install DIG THE GIG to your Home Screen first. Your daily or weekly choice applies to new matching gigs. Updates to gigs you’ve saved are separate and can reach you as soon as they happen.

Budva, Bar, Herceg Novi, Podgorica, Tivat — the first gigs are already on digthegig.live, and we’re building out the calendar.

It’s still early days. But every scene matters, even the smallest one, and it deserves to be easy to find.

We want to help people discover the bands, venues, and promoters keeping live original music going across Montenegro — whether you live there or are just passing through.

Meet our moderator for Montenegro

Vilyen Salamov — @turbo.polako is DIG THE GIG’s country moderator for Montenegro.

Play in a band? Run a venue? Organise shows? Know your local scene? Get in touch with Vilyen or with us. We’d love to hear what we’re missing.

Know a gig that isn’t listed?

Any registered user can suggest a show on the site. Sign in, hit Suggest a Gig, and send us the details. We review submissions before they go live.

You can also leave a comment here, DM @digthegig.live, or email [hello@digthegig.live](mailto:hello@digthegig.live).

Help us put more of Montenegro’s local scene on the map.

Announcement DIG THE GIG on your home screen — how to install it on iPhone and Android

Post image
1 Upvotes

Your next gig, one tap away.

You can use DIG THE GIG like a mobile app: give it a place on your home screen, open it in its own window, and get push notifications about the shows you care about.

It’s a Progressive Web App, or PWA — installed directly from the website.

iPhone / iPad

  1. Open digthegig.live in Safari. If you’re reading this inside Instagram or Reddit, open the link in Safari first.
  2. Tap Share. Depending on your Safari layout, you may need to open the page menu first.
  3. Scroll down and choose Add to Home Screen.
  4. If you see Open as Web App, leave it switched on.
  5. Tap Add, then launch DIG THE GIG from its new icon.

For push notifications on iPhone and iPad, you need iOS / iPadOS 16.4 or later and must open DIG THE GIG from the home-screen icon.

Android

  1. Open digthegig.live in Chrome.
  2. Open the site’s main menu and tap Install App if it’s available.
  3. Alternatively, open Chrome’s ⋮ menu → Install and create shortcut → Install. On some versions, look for Install app or Add to Home screen, then follow the installation prompt.
  4. Launch DIG THE GIG from its new icon.

If the installation option is missing, check that you’re using Chrome itself rather than the browser built into another app.

Turn on the notifications you actually want

Open the installed app, sign in, and go to Account settings → Notifications.

Switch on Push notifications and allow notifications when your phone asks. Push is enabled for each device, so repeat this on any other phone or tablet where you want alerts.

You can choose to hear about:

  • New gigs matching your subscription — save a filter for the cities, genres, or venues you follow.
  • Updates to saved gigs — changes to the schedule or venue, cancellations, and availability.
  • Saved gig reminders — a reminder the day before a show.

Your gigs, your pace

For new gigs matching your subscribed filter, choose:

  • Every gig — hear about each new match as it’s added.
  • Daily digest — one round-up a day.
  • Weekly digest — one round-up a week.

You’ll find these options under Subscription in your account settings. Updates to saved gigs still arrive right away when those notifications are enabled.

Already using the website?

It’s the same DIG THE GIG account. Sign in to access your saved gigs and subscription. You can keep browsing in your browser too — installation simply makes it easier to get back to the music.

Need a hand? Leave a comment here, DM @digthegig.live, use Feedback on the site, or email [hello@digthegig.live](mailto:hello@digthegig.live). Tell us your phone, browser, and where you got stuck.
