🌇 Community Has anyone noticed rising Vegetables prices?
I’ve never seen vegetables this expensive, potatoes never touched 5dhs for a kg before, neither did onions. Cauliflower is at the highest of its price that I’ve seen like ever. Similar story with rest of the vegetables too.

My company wants me to resign instead of terminating me
Hey guys,
Looking for some advice regarding my current situation with my employer in a DMCC freezone company.
My company is letting me go due to budget reductions/restructuring—it’s strictly budget-related and not because of my performance. However, they are asking me to submit a resignation letter instead of them issuing a formal termination notice.
I’m really confused about a few things and want to make sure I don't lose any of my rights:
- Why are they pushing me to resign instead of terminating me? Is there a specific reason employers do this?
- End of Service & Unused Leave: Will I still get my full End of Service Gratuity (EOSG) and my 30 days of untaken annual leave pay whether I resign or get terminated? Or does resigning affect the calculation? Ive been working for around 4.5 years there.
- Signing settlement BEFORE receiving funds: They are asking me to sign the final settlement paper before they actually transfer the money or end-of-service payout. They claimed that I can just email them saying "I signed the settlement but haven't received the money yet" to keep my legal rights while they "speed up the process."
Has anyone been through this? How should I handle this with HR? Any advice would be appreciated!
Update: I already told them I don't wanna resign cause I'll lose my insurance, they said we gave u extra month so ud resigned (they never told me the extra month was for me to resign). But I still don't get why they're insisting on me resigning

🌟 Fun Unique birthday experiences/ activities
I want to take my husband out for his birthday and I am torn between the helicopter ride or hot air balloon which one would you recommend? He really wants to go skydiving but I can’t afford it currently so maybe next year so I am thinking of these as an in between. Or do you recommend a different unique experience that is maximum 2k for 2 ppl?

My brother got offered a job at Amazon UAE and we did some research and found a few concerns in terms of work-life balance and high workloads and lots of late nights and pressure etc.
Anyone here who can help verify or possibly even give a differing opinion?

Where can I find good-quality honey?
I am looking to buy good quality honey that is natural and not sweetened directly or indirectly. I would prefer it to be from smaller farms rather than large chains/names. I don’t mind sourcing it from outside. Any suggestions?

🖐 Labor having my own visa but companies don’t want to give work permits?
hey i hope everyone is well. i’ve been looking for a job for over a year now but haven’t found much luck. however when i do find companies that reach out to me, they tell me they won’t give me a work permit with reasons being along the lines of “we’re a start up”, “that would be less money to you and me”, and “you already have your own visa”, is this allowed? im under residence visa and im honestly so stumped.
additionally, im looking to relocate to canada so id need experience and proof of it, im not sure if they’d accept my work experience without a work permit included as proof, is anyone has information on this it would be really appreciated!
edit: my parent is sponsoring my resident visa but it says im a student on it for some reason, planning on telling them not to do that when i renew

Title: Dubai residence visa sponsored by my husband — studying in Austria and unable to return within 180 days
Hi everyone!
I’m an Indian national currently living in Austria and pursuing a full-time master’s degree at FH Kärnten.
I have a Dubai residence visa sponsored by my husband, which is valid until 2028. I left the UAE on 18 September 2026 to continue my studies in Austria, and I won’t be able to travel back to Dubai in March 2027.
I read on the official UAE government website that students enrolled in educational institutions abroad who hold valid UAE residence visas may be exempt from the usual 180-day rule. It also mentions that overseas students may be covered under Dubai-specific rules.
I’m trying to understand whether this applies to my situation, as my visa is husband-sponsored rather than a student visa issued by the UAE.
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced something similar:
Has anyone with a Dubai residence visa sponsored by their husband stayed outside the UAE for more than 180 days while studying abroad?
Were you able to return to Dubai without your residence visa becoming invalid?
Did you need to apply for an exemption or obtain prior approval from GDRFA Dubai?
Was a university enrolment certificate sufficient, or were additional documents required?
Did you successfully re-enter Dubai after more than six months abroad?
I’m especially interested in recent, first-hand experiences involving Dubai-issued, husband-sponsored residence visas.
Thank you so much for any advice or experiences you can share! 🙏

PayPal to du Pay IBAN transfer completed but money still not received
Hi everyone,
I transferred money from my PayPal account to my du Pay IBAN on 20 October, and PayPal marked the transfer as completed on 21 October. However, as of 26 October, I still haven’t received the money in my du Pay account.
Has anyone experienced a similar delay when transferring money from PayPal to du Pay in the UAE? How long did it take for your money to arrive, and should I contact PayPal or du Pay first?
Thanks in advance!

Scam or legit.
Title: Has anyone heard of Al Dulkheil Finance Group (AFG) in the UAE? I think I may have been scammed.
Hi everyone,
I’m posting here to see if anyone has dealt with Al Dulkheil Finance Group (AFG) or knows whether this company is legitimate.
I was looking for a loan in the UAE and applied through their website on 21 October. Initially, they reviewed my application and told me I had a credit issue, so I would need either a UAE national as a guarantor or an investor to guarantee the loan. Since I couldn’t arrange either, they suggested another process.
They asked me to pay AED 759 to connect my WPS salary account to their repayment system, claiming that the instalments would be automatically deducted when my salary arrived. They asked me to fill out a form and make the payment. After that, they asked me to transfer money to another account, which I also did.
Once all these steps were completed, they told me my loan disbursement had been rejected because my bank account number and IBAN supposedly didn’t match. I checked my original application, and the details I had entered were correct.
Now they’re claiming that the money is stuck in a digital wallet and that I need to pay a fine. They’re threatening that the investor’s account will be frozen if I don’t pay, and that I could face a much larger fine if they take legal action.
At this point, I’m seriously concerned that this might be a scam. When I searched for their Dubai address, which they claim is in DIFC, I couldn’t find a clear office location. I also checked the website’s creation date and found that it appears to have been created on 19 October, just two days before I applied.
I’m planning to report this to the relevant UAE authorities and contact my bank, but I wanted to ask here first:
Has anyone heard of or dealt with Al Dulkheil Finance Group (AFG)?
Is this a legitimate finance company operating in the UAE?
Has anyone experienced a similar loan process involving upfront fees, WPS account connections, and additional fines?
If I’ve been scammed, what is the best way to report it and try to recover my money?
I’m sharing my experience to get advice and hopefully warn others who might be considering applying for a loan through this company.
Any genuine advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

Mashreq Neo current account minimum balance
Hi, I have AED 50k+ in my Mashreq Neo Plus Saver account. Can I keep my Neo current account balance at AED 0 without getting charged the monthly fee? Does the money in my Saver account count towards the minimum balance requirement?
Has anyone tried this?

Sponsoring a maid help me understand why
Hi I’m relatively new to Dubai,
We have a live out maid though maid cc I believe we pay around 5.5k aed a month. Which i think she takes 3k home (it might be less) I know she pays 600 rent to live out. We also live a good 30-45 min away from her accomodation.
Now the maid has asked me to sponsor her instead of maid cc. Unfortunately her English isn’t great so she can’t really communicate to me why she’d want me to sponsor her vs me just going thru maid cc. Although she’s bought this request up with my wife and now myself.
I’m just struggling to understand why I would go down the personal sponsorship route ? What’s in it for me, the maid and maid cc ?
Thanks
