Please remove puzzles or, at the very least, give users the option to disable them!

I simply want to learn a language, not spend my time opening chests and get puzzle pieces. These features distract me and waste valuable time that I could be spending on completing learning modules.

Learning should be about acquiring knowledge not puzzles and complete unnecessary mini-games.

Please make these features optional and let users choose how they want to learn. I want to focus on language learning, not on puzzles and chests please!!

I got myself this (not very expensive) Timex with a🇫🇷-themed bracelet to celebrate finishing the entire Duolingo French course.

And now I do the daily refresh each day!

I'm the first to have moaned about the dreaded "Your course has changed" message. In fact I have complained both here and to cust srvs. My issue when they've done this is that I go to a lesson to 'review' stuff I've never heard of.

My least favourite is when it's one of those listening things where the character is interviewing someone about a job idea, a new place to visit or Junior's World of Adults. All the other exercises have written aspects where at least you can follow along. But the audible only with new vocab is a nightmare for me.

Yesterday though, I encountered a deviation off the Course path. There appear to be 6 Extra units. After those are finished, I can then get back to where I was on Section 4.

I welcome this as a way to plug the gaps however, I do recognise that these 6 units are going to be tough since they will be predominantly new vocab. I think I need a new notebook. 😉

I was struggling to get this sentence right, and on my 3rd or 4th attempt to type it in, i got told I would loose my progress unless I paid for more energy.
Mistakes use to be free to correct. They are no longer free.

for context, I had uninstalled Duolingo for a few months to rest, and recently returned, but I noticed there is only 1 daily quest now, and there doesn't seem to be a badge to earn for this month, but I saw on the feed that a friend of mine just got the badge...

what's going on? is this a change that applies to everyone, a testing feature, or just a bug?

I cancelled my subscription and deleted the app about a month ago (see all the threads about Duo's recent enshittification).

Yesterday I was out with a friend and she held up her phone to show me a Duolingo notification with a message from me on it, scolding her for not practicing or something.

I know in the past people have presumed that impersonating messages are only sent when you nudge people - well I haven't even had the app on my phone for weeks, and they're still using my name to message people (presumably to try and drag them back to the app).

I presume to stop it I'd need to defriend them / delete my account.

Sinking pretty low, Duolingo. No other app I can think of impersonates its users for clicks..

Started at beginning of month, no buying freezes.

I'm getting confused with this. As the course has gone on, I am now in a section that's all about being in places, or going to places.

I was fine with trying to learn the genders of objects, but when it comes to going places everything seems to get flipped around and I have no clue which option I am meant to use. This is fine where hints are available, because I can just cheat and look at the hint, but many of the exercises make me select the missing word from a list of options.

Whichever method I use to get it right, I don't feel like I'm really learning why it's right, and it's going to take a lot of trial and error to finally make the knowledge stick without understanding it.

I want to mute the app completely. Just the app, not the global mute on the phone. Is it too much too ask?

Here is why: Im currently doing chess lessons only. In the meanwhile I can and want to listen to audiobooks. And Oskar talking all the time and cutting into the story is annoying af.

Anyone else or is it just me? Any workarounds?

I had a free trial of Super till a few days ago and I could do the video calls with it. It said "Call with Max" on the button but when I pressed it, it launched. It was great.

My trial lapsed and it just threw a new preview of Super at me... but this time I can't do the video calls anymore. The button says "Unlock with Max" and when I click it, it prompts me to upgrade to Max. When I go to the subscription page, "unlimited video calls" is no longer listed under Super.

I thought Duolingo's plan was to phase over video calls to Super? Why are they now removing it from Super? I was planning to subscribe to Super during the new years sale but now I'm confused. Will video calls be part of Super then? And even if they are, will they take them away in a future app update?

Does anyone at this level read books in French. I'm score 83 and would recommend this book to pull it together. I was pleasantly surprised how satisfying it was. But you can't learn anything on Duo - the naysayers

I have zero interest in playing online against people in the insanity that is competitive Duolingo, I just want to just play around against Oscar, but I've seen several games where there's an illegal move or the game didn't know what it was doing - latest was Oscar made a checkmate with my queen right there able to capture, but nope, toast.

Does anyone else see issues like this?

I have been playing chess on duolingo for fun for quite a while now and its okayish but the thing that frustrates me the most is that the built in bot that we can play against talks too much and it affects my play even though I consider myself a decent player. it talks throughout the match and repeats the same thing over and over again. is there any way to shut him up?. I know I can just mute my phone but muting and unmuting it all the time whenever i play matches is exhausting. i just want to have a good time playing a game but the condescending words of his lowers my confidence and self-esteem alot:(
