Almost died from an ectopic rupture.

I never knew I was pregnant. I was fine shopping with my sister and all of a sudden I got really bad cramps and was nauseous. Something that is in the norm for me with PCOS etc. I went to car to get an emesis bag. I started puking. I really thought a caught a 12/24 hr virus. Began throwing up around 12pm and lasting throughout the night. I was freezing, having trouble breathing and felt so dehydrated I couldn’t drink enough. Finally I asked my bf to help me get to bathroom. As soon as sat up I passed out. When I came to I told them to call an ambulance. From there it was even more insane. My body temp was 93° when I got to hospital. Blood sugar in the high 500s. My blood ph was so acidic. Just Insanity They were warming me with hot water gloves to find veins. Gave me the hot hugger blanket. Finally they were able to take blood samples and put an IV. They gave me 4 pints through a rapid blood infuser. It was traumatic. This is with 15-20 people working all around me. I hear someone say my HCG levels were elevated. I knew what that meant. I said “I’m pregnant?!” Now I’m worried about that. They’re giving me an ultrasound & a few minutes later in my mind..I start feeling better. I asked if they gave me something ;fentanyl. Everything was happening so fast in my head but then they let my bf and my dad in to see me. I whispered in my bf ear I was pregnant and he said he knew and the doctor already told him it wasn’t viable and that’s why I was so sick. (The rupture)
For the surgery they cut out my right tube and removed two liters of blood out of my abdomen. All together through blood loss and surgery I received about gallon or more of blood transfusions. Basically my whole body’s worth of blood. 32 hours later they’re discharging me. I just feel crazy and gaslit. Multiple doctors said I was so close to death and a few more hours of waiting I’d be dead, but 32 hours later I’m walking out of the ICU. I’m having trouble just coming to terms with everything. I just don’t know. It’s like I got fucked with no aftercare. I’m just supposed to navigate this alone? I m so confused, sad, and hurt.

Emotional Recovery - what helped you?

My pregnancy finally resolved last Friday, four weeks after my second dose of methotrexate. Over the course of this past week, I feel like I have become buried under an avalanche of emotions. Mostly anger and sadness.

For those who have been through this and made it to the other side, how did you feel afterwards? How long by before you started to feel stable and okay again? Did you do anything that helped? My therapist is recommending looking for a pregnancy loss support groups, but I’m not sure what to expect from it.

Possible Ectopic

• Upvotes

I tested positive on Oct 11, my LMP starting on September 18. On Oct 17, I started heavily bleeding and cramping that had me curled into a ball in severe pain all night to the point of crying (I generally have a high pain tolerance). I assumed it was a chemical and I had gotten my period. The bleeding was constant for about 4-5 days like my regular period, turning more brown towards the end. There was never any clots, just bright red blood until the end. I was fully convinced it was my period.
About a week ago, I took another pregnancy test after getting a weird urge to take one. I was also feeling an odd sense of lightheaded/dizziness that day, but not so bad that I felt faint. It was positive, the line even darker than it had been before.
I went to my doctor today to ask about a possible ectopic. I also should add here that I have a heart shaped uterus, if that matters in this case. Anyway, my doctor said the pain is most likely from a corpus luteum cyst, and sent me for hcg blood work and repeat in 48 hours. He pushed down on my abdomen which hurt quite a bit.
I went for the labs, and when I got home, started bleeding again. My results came back and my hcg was 762 - I'm 5 weeks 4 days today according to my LMP.
I'm now feeling super crampy, hot and cold at the same time, and still bleeding since this afternoon. I feel sluggish and generally unwell. The bleeding is not as heavy as the time before, but enough to be wearing a pad.
I'm not sure what to do. I'm debating taking myself to an emergency room to get checked out, just to be safe, but at the same time I don't want to overreact. If anyone has advice or a similar experience, please share! TIA

Editing to add: I also should mention that the pain is extremely focused on my right side and right side only. It feels like a very sharp cramp in my lower right abdomen, especially that first night when the bleeding started.
A few more of my symptoms include bloating, weird bowel movements (sometimes diarrhea, sometimes constipated.) I've been super nauseous especially when the cramps hit.
I also don't know if I'm too in my head about this, but I have right shoulder pain that I've been blaming on muscle aches from work. It feels like a cramp throughout the right side of my neck/shoulder/upper back.

Trying not to lose hope

Idk where else to post this and I hope it’s ok to post here. I’m at such a loss right now, feeling so hopeless. In the last year and a half I’ve had 2 ectopic pregnancies (last one ending in left tube removal), a miscarriage and a chemical pregnancy.
This month, I just had a feeling that I’ve conceived. I don’t track ovulation, but I do use a period tracker so I do the deed in my predicted fertile window. I haven’t missed my period yet but something just told me to test. 10-24 I take a clear blue test with pink dye and I swear I see something super super faint. Test again the 25th and same thing. Follow up with a digital (knowing it’s so early and my period is still about 6 days away) not really expecting a positive result but the result said “pregnant”. Me and my man were over the moon! I message my OB and she has me to beta testing today. My hcg is only 4. My heart dropped when I seen that because how could a digital pick up such a low hcg?! My hcg must have dropped right? I’m supposed to go back Wednesday for another blood draw. My OB sent me a message saying “your pregnancy hormone is very low, likely because you are so early. let’s stick with the plan to repeat in 48 hours”. I took my last digital just out of curiosity and it does say “not pregnant” now.
I’m concerned I could be having another ectopic in my right tube this time or it’s a chemical. Is it worth it to try to hold on to any hope at all? Has anyone experienced anything similar? My mind is going crazy and the waiting game is torture.

When did you start feeling like yourself again after an ectopic pregnancy?

I’m just over two weeks post-surgery after an ectopic pregnancy, where I had my right fallopian tube removed. This was following IVF, which has made the whole experience even harder emotionally.

Physically, I’m slowly recovering, but mentally I’m really struggling. I feel low, emotional, exhausted and just not like myself anymore. I’m finding it difficult to feel happy or motivated, and even little things seem overwhelming.
I don’t think I realised how much this experience would affect me, and I’m struggling to imagine feeling like my old self again.

For those who have been through an ectopic pregnancy, how long did it take before you started feeling more like yourself emotionally? Did things gradually improve, or did you find it took months?

I’d really appreciate hearing other people’s experiences, especially from anyone who went through this following IVF.

Sooo has anyone dealt with a weird rising of hcg numbers following a double embryo transfer?

Beta 1 -143.3
Beta 2 -174.2
Beta 3- 125
Beta 4 178
Beta 5 496

My obgyn is convinced it’s like vanishing twin and my REI is convinced it may be ectopic. I’m freaking out because I want this to be viable. But this is also the craziest thing I’ve ever encountered. Has anyone deal with this?

Hydrosalpinx after ectopic pregnancy treated with methotrexate. Has anyone experienced this?

I had an ectopic pregnancy in July 2026 and was treated with methotrexate. My hCG levels eventually dropped to 3, so I was told the pregnancy had resolved.

I already had a mass in the area where the ectopic pregnancy was located, and I recently had another follow up ultrasound. My doctor told me I have a left hydrosalpinx, which means fluid has accumulated inside my left fallopian tube.

The ultrasound report also mentions a 6.7 cm tubo ovarian complex and an elongated fluid filled area. My doctor was concerned and referred me to the emergency department for further assessment.

I’m not experiencing any pain right now I haven’t for 3 months since August. so I’m confused about how serious this could be. Could the hydrosalpinx be related to my previous ectopic pregnancy? Could the fluid be associated with the mass that was already there?

Has anyone developed a hydrosalpinx after an ectopic pregnancy treated with methotrexate?

Did the hydrosalpinx eventually resolve on its own?

Did you still have a mass after your hCG returned to normal?

Did you need surgery, or did it resolve without surgery?

Did it affect your fertility or your ability to conceive in the future?

I’m feeling anxious about this and would really appreciate hearing about other people’s experiences. I understand that everyone’s situation is different, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has gone through something similar.

Ectopic pregnancy?

Hi all! I just got a positive pregnancy test & am elated, however I have some symptoms that I’m concerned might mean it is an ectopic pregnancy.

I have super sore breasts and had what appeared to be a tiny tiny blood clot a few days before I received a positive test. Since the positive test, I have had brown discharge for the past two days along with some egg white discharge.

I have had cramping and stomach pain, as well as diarrhea. I also have slight pelvic pain but it comes and goes and kind of feels like mild period cramps.
Also somewhat nauseous and feeling kind of “out of it” in general & slightly dizzy at times but nothing crazy.

Are these symptoms indicative of ectopic pregnancy or implantation? What should I look out for moving forward?

Thanks in advance!

Metho vs Surgery - 3 days post op

Hi everyone 🤍

I’m currently 3 days post-op after having my left fallopian tube removed due to an ectopic pregnancy.
Making the decision between methotrexate and surgery was incredibly difficult. After weighing up both options, I ultimately decided to go ahead with surgery.

I’m still processing everything, both physically and emotionally and I’d really love to hear from others who have been through something similar.

For those who chose methotrexate, how was your experience? How long did your recovery take and do you feel it was the right decision for you?

And for those who opted for surgery and had a tube removed, how was your recovery? How did you feel about your decision afterwards?

I’d also love to hear from anyone who has gone on to have a successful pregnancy after either treatment.

I know everyone’s circumstances are different but hearing other people’s experiences would really help me as I navigate this.

Sending love to everyone who has been through this 🤍

Anticipating surgery this week. Nervous!!!

My doctor said if there’s still no pregnancy seen on ultrasound by 2000 hcg (anticipating this tomorrow) we’ll proceed with surgery this week. I can’t do the shot, I won’t risk it failing and rupturing anyways, and I can’t stop breastfeeding my infant for 7 days.

My nerves are all over the place but tonight it’s about the lack of dignity. Knowing there’s going to be that many people seeing me nude, worried about whether I’ll be sufficiently covered before anyone sees me post op, afraid I won’t wake up from anesthesia at all, afraid my husband will think I’m disgusting especially with the gas buildup, worried about them putting a pad on me because that’s just weird, worried about letdown setting off in the operating room since I can’t wear a bra/nursing pads, afraid I’m going to look fat, etc etc.

Yall please help me feel better!!!

Current pain in pregnancy near similar to ectopic

Did anyone have ectopic-like-pain awaiting your placement scan and have it end up being in your uterus? Not sure if I’m being hyper-aware or not.

Praising Jesus. I have a positive test at 10dpo! First pregnancy post ectopic. Can anyone tell me why all my other tests look more positive than the FRER? I thought FRER is supposed to be the most sensitive? *turn your brightness up* it’s a vvvfl. Also when do I call my doctor because this is VERY early to get a positive test.

Recovery & What comes next?

I’m not a scientist, and I know everyone’s recovery is different, but trying to gather what comes next after having my tube removed, like: next period? time to conceive?

I think the timeline is going to depend on how high your hcg levels were pre-removal and how severe your case was but let’s try to map this out together:

Please share your:
Surgery date: ?
HCG levels at the time of surgery: ?
Weeks to first period post surgery: ?
(Bonus/Optional) Time to a successful pregnancy post surgery: ?

Appreciate you teaming along so that we can all navigate this together!

Extreme pain with ovulation after ectopic?

I had ectopic formally diagnosed 10/1 and got MTX that day. Hcg confirmed negative 10/21, no rupture.

Yesterday I ovulated for the first time and it was the same side as my ectopic. I can usually feel ovulation but this was debilitating pain, doubled over and couldn’t really move. If I hadn’t just tested negative, I would’ve headed to the ER thinking it had ruptured.

Is this normal?? Will it be this way every time I ovulate from the left now? Or does this mean I have scar tissue there now which will make conceiving again even harder. This was not something they warned me about.

Waiting until January to TTC again after ectopic. How did you handle the wait?

Hi everyone! Just looking for some advice or to hear from people who have been in a similar situation.
At the beginning of October, I had emergency surgery for a ruptured ectopic pregnancy and lost my left tube. It was my first pregnancy, so the whole experience was pretty devastating.
Thankfully, I’m doing really well physically now and was recently cleared by my doctor! She recommended waiting a cycle or two before trying again, but said I could technically start trying sooner if I wanted to.

Here’s my dilemma. After everything happened, I signed up for some additional benefits through my insurance, including short-term disability (for potential maternity leave in my job because it’s not covered) that kick in in January. Because of that, it really makes the most sense financially for my husband and me to wait until January to start trying again.
I know January is literally only a couple of months away, but it feels SO far away right now. :(

I want to be pregnant again so badly, and I think part of that is because I feel like my first pregnancy was taken away from me so suddenly.
Mentally, I actually feel pretty good right now. I’m feeling more like myself again, and I’m excited about the possibility of getting pregnant again. But I also wonder if waiting a little longer might be good for me emotionally, even if I don’t necessarily feel like I need it right now.
I know I technically have the choice to start trying whenever I want, but financially January just makes so much more sense. Plus, I know there’s no guarantee we’ll get pregnant right away, which makes me want to start even sooner. It’s just frustrating knowing what the logical decision is while wanting something completely different.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation where you had to wait to TTC again, even though you felt ready? Did you end up appreciating the extra time to heal, or did it just make you more impatient?
I’d also love to hear any success stories from people who conceived after losing a tube. I think I’m just looking for a little encouragement and advice on how to make these next couple of months feel less like a waiting game

Ectopic after Miscarriage

I had a miscarriage, and before my period came back, I found out I was pregnant again. I was spotting and having mild cramps, but went to the ER just in case due to the previous miscarriage. The last thing I expected was that I'd go into surgery and get my right tube removed.

It's been hard to process two back-to-back losses. But the OB said it's only a 10% reduction in chances of conceiving after we start trying again. She recommended we wait two cycles before trying again.

I'm just wondering if anyone has been in this boat? Reading about people having a miscarriage after their ectopic pregnancy makes me worried that there won't be a positive outcome with the next pregnancy.

Any hope would be much appreciated!

Could still be ectopic??

Friday I had a D&C. I should’ve been around 6-7 weeks pregnant. My OB could never find a sac but I had a very thick endometrium. She checked ovaries and tubes on US and didn’t see anything. The tissue collected during the D&C did come back as a typical miscarriage. However, my OB also chose to give me a methotrexate shot just in case since my hcg levels have been rising fairly normally.

I guess my question is has anyone experienced something like this? It is my understanding (and I could definitely be wrong) that there wouldn’t be pregnancy tissue in the uterus if the pregnancy was ectopic? So if that’s the case, where the heck was the sac? There’s also no way I was earlier than I think. LMP was 8/24 and I ovulated 9/15 and HCG was a smidge over 9000.

I was fine the day of and day after surgery. This morning I woke up with contraction-like cramping. Similar to what I experienced with my natural miscarriage. I’m still very paranoid about an ectopic and rupture. Especially because I feel very bloated along with the cramping. It’s stressing me out.

Possible ectopic.

Hi just have a lot of questions and wanting to see if anyone here has gone through something similar.

Had my first scan on 10/21 at 7 weeks 1 day and all we saw on the transvaginal ultrasound was an empty sac. I had already been spotting for 3 days and had one day of pretty heavy bleeding with clots on 10/20 which prompted the doctors visit. I had a natural MC in April so once bleeding started I knew what was coming.

Did betas on 10/21 and came back at 807
Did betas again on 10/23 and came back 837. Obviously not a viable pregnancy but does the rising HCG mean it’s ectopic? My bleeding has basically stopped. This is just so different than my last MC. I had no idea you could see a sac but still have an ectopic. She ruled it as a PUL but I haven’t had any one sided pain or anything else. Feel totally normal and not pregnant.

Do you still pass a sac if it’s ectopic? I don’t see the doctor till Thursday and I feel so lost! So many questions!
