This scene in Duvetbox's different beasts I've always wondered why this looked familiar and I finally figured it out, this face reminds me of Timothée Chalamet, do you also see it?

I got told about SfS today and want to share it since I believe it deserves more recognition

At first I thought Sisyphus was voiced by Ayron Alexander at first, got shocked when I found out Luke voiced him

Discussion OK yall I love Aeolus but why the heck did she do this?

The like, one thing that irks me about Aeolus is that one part when she says

"I said to keep the bag closed, but you weren't compliant." If you didn't notice, she said "but YOU weren't compliant." Like, YOUR winions told THE CREW that it's treasure, EURYLOCHUS opened the bag, and somehow it's Ody's fault?

Discussion What in your opinions are headcanons, character designs, or designs choices; do you have for EPIC: The Musical. What does it mean to you, and how does it relate to the story in your opinion?

As I stated above, what are some headcanons’, character designs, and or design choices that you did give the characters in EPIC and why? I want to know what are some things that make sense to you when creating a character. For me personally I have one major character design choice, character design, and headcanon; and that is for Poseidon.

Personally, I love everyone’s Poseidon designs. From Gigi’s, Neal Illustrator’s, AnniFlamma’s, StarmyBunny’s, helith’s, TheeArteest’s, and Faysherbs’ designs; yes I know I named only a few artists/channels, but there weren’t many I could find on Youtube when I went searching for animatics or even shorts. They to me just never really clicked, and I pondered why it just never hit right with me. That was when I realized, I just had a different view point and ideas to others. So for me I personally think Poseidon to me fits more as a Jester, Harlequin, and or a Fool.

The reason I say this, is because personally from me and my own opinions Poseidon to me is the butt of the joke. I mean yeah, he is godly and divine, but in ‘Thunderbringer’ Zeus very well could have killed Ody for his earlier actions in EPIC i.e. disrespecting him and challenging his decree in ‘The Horse and The Infant’ by trying to keep Astyanax/Scamandrius alive, breaking Xenia with Polyphemus as I’ll let that pass because at the time Polyphemus wasn’t in the cave when all of Odysseus men on his ship found where there were sheep in a cave and no shepherd, and to Odysseus’ and Athena’s falling out in ‘My Goodbye’ for directly challenging, yelling, and even arguing back with Athena. Yet he never did, didn’t even tell Poseidon what occurred on Helios’ island with the Cattle or that the gods would set Odysseus free when they were convinced by Athena to set him free. And to the fact court jesters were recognized as both entertainers and trusted advisers who could critique kings without fear of punishment.

So jesters were known to be a King’s trusted adviser and very well could critique a King without punishment, and that is something I believe does occur with Poseidon and Zeus. Poseidon entertains the other gods and Zeus while also holding power others don’t have and can criticize Zeus without punishment. I also like the idea of having Poseidon masked to hide how he truly looks as Gods aren’t humans and should never be seen or compared to them in the same light, and that under his mask you don’t have a single clue of how he truly feels or acts besides his voice giving him away because a mask doesn’t change, or move, or show one’s true intentions. So yeah, that’s my reason and why. I also in my opinion think Poseidon moves deathly silent because of him being eaten by Cronos as a child and he picked up the idea that if he stays silent nobody else can ever harm him because they will never hear him coming. Though the bell comes in because he often scares Hera, Zeus, Demeter, Hestia, and Hades so often with how silent he is they forced him to wear a bell to alert them of his presence. The other idea behind the bell is like the tolling of a bell when one is panicked or nervous as it signals the end of time like on an assignment or death, to the idiom ‘The calm before the storm’, and when buoy bobs and rings its bell when water is acting up at sea to alert a change.

Anyway that was my rant and I want to know your opinions. Anyway here is a W.I.P of my Poseidon drawing. I hope you like it. 𐔌՞ ܸ.ˬ.ܸ՞𐦯

Discussion How do we feel about sharpwolf?

• Upvotes

So, with all of the Faithful_Apollo_Devotee drama aside (It is no controversy, just a few kids hating on a random small tiktok creator who is likely too employed to even know that they have gotten hate) what is everyone's opinion on sharpwolf? It is not my cup of tea, but is it anything mildly hate worthy? What is the difference between Odyssey and Epic sharpwolf to you all, and is it considered a darkship?

Hey guys, this is my alt! I posted on my main, and the post got banned. I wasn't going to make this post, cause I don't wanna drag this thing, but I keep on finding more stuff out. Since there is no megathread yet, this is a place to collect information about the drama. It is sad that this is happening in this community, but it is important to talk about I believe. Comment what you know, and screenshots if you want. Sorry if this is dragging anything! Please keep things respectful!

ithica sage Telemachus manages to lose a fight with Athena on his side

How the fuck do you do that? Like literally he has the goddess of war on his side, against literally a guy that gets taken down by Odysseus without even a fight. The dude was a nobody and Telemachus couldn't even beat him with the aid of a goddess.

I'm happy that Circe at least gave Odysseus a worty son (though he dies from the kid so idk) because Telemachus is an absolute scam

Discussion Odysseus isn't a hero

In EPIC, Ody is portrayed as a traumatized man trying to get his comrades home, only to lose all of them and return to Ithaca alone and broken.

However, Ody in the myths isn't a hero, he's a lying, backstabbing, selfish man only interested in getting home to his wife (although he cheats on her with Calypso and circe. I'm not talking about that here.)

In the myths, Odysseus is a known liar, world renowned, and won the day during the Trojan war countless times through deceit and underhanded tactics.

Man cannot shut up about seeing his wife and kid again, and he's notoriously selfish. You've got a family waiting for you back home too, why should your king take priority? Hell, he tried to weasel his way out of his oath to Menelaus and Helen and avoid the war on a technicality in the first place.

The Trojan Was 10 years of brutal bloodshed, away from their loved ones, where mortals were the playthings of vengeful, petty gods. It was a agonizing siege with death on a scale they haven't ever seen in their lifetimes. It was a traumatizing crucible where kings often led their soldiers into the meat grinder, and the gods were in full display as monsters. Trust in either was never particularly high.

Again, 10 YEARS of this. Remember that like every 5 seconds that you try to think about the stress and sheer trauma they were under even on the return voyage. Which mind, is from what's supposed to be presented as an abnormal, mythical length of time for these men to be away on campaign in a land honestly not all that far from their homes by boat, even by bronze age standards.

After being the only army that made it out of Troy with no casualties at all in a decade, they suddenly lost 6 of their brothers in arms to a cyclops in a cave he lead them to. They were promised food on this island and only got more trauma for it, plus a fresh reminder that their captain and king was not an honorable warrior but a notorious trickster.

The crew don't trust the gods. They have no reason to after Troy, but Odysseus is hellbent on going to the wind god despite protests against it. Even assuming their captain is somehow being completely honest (a rarity), who's to say the gods are, and this isn't another one of their games where the pieces in play are their lives?

Odysseus went mad and delirious with no sleep for nine days as he jealously guarded the wind bag. He couldn't act normal around his men, his brothers in arms? And we can see Ithaca on the horizon, we're basically home free! 10 years away at Troy, there's no harm in taking a peek to see if that liar hoarded all the spoils of their venture to himself, like he did to Ajax, right? (There very much was harm in that.)

Lastly, for him starving and resorting to eating the cows for anyone saying "I'd be too afraid of the gods to do that", no you wouldn't. You would 100% eat those cows the moment you found a lovely little island full of them. You actually don't understand the delirium that starvation produces. No one's above that, at the very end of their rope.

I've also seen people say they can fish. No they can't. Bronze age fishing techniques weren't adapted for deep ocean fishing, and even if they somehow were, people don't grasp how vast the ocean is.

And given that every island they come across is infested with some new monster for them to fight and maybe die to, alongside the risk of Poseidon catching up if they wait too long securing supplies, it's not an ideal time for a notoriously slow method of procuring food for hundreds of men. Plus, it's just a headcanon, but one that makes too much sense is that Poseidon cursed them to not be able to partake of the ocean's bounty.

Moral of the story, you wouldn't trust Odysseus farther than you can throw him, and you'd be a deeply traumatized, emotionally unstable, paranoid mess who would not act rationally in the slightest if you somehow managed to survive the hell they did to that point. Let's be so for real. Those guys were fucked.
