Hey there! I recently was given an intro to fly tying kit by my girlfriends parents. I have tied up a few different flies so far and its been a blast. However, I really want to get into tying some more diverse patterns and playing around with slight alterations of patterns.

I live in far northern California, and am fishing for steelhead so I thought some of those patterns could be fun to try. I also spend a lot of time in the summers fishing for trout in the sierras, so happy to tie up some more trouty patterns too.

I have been looking into buying more fly tying materials online, and have been overwhelmed by the number of options, as well as determining what is a reasonable amount of material to buy. Not to mention that I am very budget limited and am hoping to dip my toes into the fly tying world a little more without breaking the bank. So I figured I would make a post on here; if anyone has any extra materials that they're looking to get rid of please reach out to me, and I would love to buy them off of you. Or if you just have advice or materials/patterns that you would recommend. I appreciate all of the help!!!

I recently started fly fishing with a cheap cabalas rod and reel and am looking for an upgrade. Everywhere online says to start with a 8'5"-9' 5wt Rod and then a good reel to match it. I would prefer it break into 3-4 pieces.

Was wondering if anyone here had the old Orvis Clearwater Cassette reel or spare spools lying around. I usually carry a lot of lines with me when stillwater fishing or on a float trip, and it gets annoying to transfer lines from fly-line spool boxes back to my spare spool whenever I switch. To be clear, this is not the new Clearwater reels that Orvis has released, which only have metal spools. I'm also aware there were two models of plastic cassette Clearwaters made, and I am not sure if the spools are compatible between the two, but I am looking for the newer version linked here.
