r/Fresno - This is the place to post if you are either looking for a job or have a job and you are looking for an employee.

We hope that putting all the job requests and offers in the same place monthly will help people who are looking for and offering jobs have an easier time sorting though the more recent requests/offers.

News Fresno officer abused Flock cameras, other database, police department alleges

Fresno Bee article: https://www.fresnobee.com/news/local/crime/article317739395.html

"Fresno Police Department has opened an investigation into an officer accused of abusing Flock Safety cameras and using another police database for reasons not connected to a criminal investigation. The accusations appeared this week in a report from Fresno’s in-house police watchdog called the Office of Independent Review."

"The officer was placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, police said. The case remained open this week."

Not seeing a lot of coverage on this, but I think it's absolutely worth locals knowing about it.

Politics Missing Ballots

USPS notified us our ballots had been delivered, but our mailbox was empty. If this has happened to you. Go to one of the 10-day polling places. Tell them your ballots are missing. They are supposed to verify the ballot has not been collected, disconnect your name from the ballot number, assign you a new ballot, and you can vote. Our ballots not being delivered by Trump's USPS is unacceptable.

Ask Fresno Questions on those who completed a Medical Billing and Coding course, How successful were you in landing jobs?

I just finished a medical billing and coding course online and I have done tons of research on how to land my first job, but all the job postings everywhere require experience that I do not yet have.

For anyone that landed any kind of entry level medical job with no experience, how did you do it? Does a cpc certificate help with the chances of getting hired? I have been applying to jobs outside of Fresno too because most of the jobs I've applied to here have already rejected me.

I have been in and out of the job market going to school and dropping out but this is the first thing I actually completed and I'm really trying to put most of my hope and efforts into getting a good job out of this. I'm currently asking some family and friends that work in the medical field to pull me in but no luck yet.

This is not a job posting but actual genuine questions I would like answered so any advice would be helpful. Thank you!

News Fresno County employee health rates for 2027 are out — and today’s bargaining session decides what the county actually covers

Fresno County employee here. The Plan Year 2027 health rates have been published, and today (Monday, Oct 26) SEIU Local 521 sits down with the County for the bargaining session where the County’s contribution — the part that decides what actually comes out of your paycheck — is still being negotiated. Open enrollment runs through Nov 20.
What the public documents show so far (SJVIA renewal and the County’s own rate sheets): Anthem’s self-funded plan renewed at +21.24%, Kaiser HMO at +4.22%, and the high-deductible plans now carry $3,500/$6,000 deductibles. The rate sheets themselves are still stamped “STOP! NOT FINAL” because the County contribution isn’t settled yet.
I’ve been compiling the County’s and SJVIA’s own documents — renewal figures, rate sheets, Board actions — at fresnohealthcosts.com including the full paper trail, so any county employee (or taxpayer) can check the numbers themselves instead of taking anyone’s word for it.
If you’re a county employee: don’t rush your enrollment. The contribution is the moving part, and it’s being decided now.

Ask Fresno Fun soccer learning for 2.5 year old

Hi everyone!

We just moved from the Bay Area and are new to Fresno. We have a very energetic and happy 2.5 year old who loves kicking around the soccer ball for fun. I’d love to put him in classes or something of that sort because he’s got such a love for it and I want to support him in exploring soccer and hopefully continue if he loves it!

Is there a place you all would recommend? I know he’s on the younger end but I’d just like for him to have a fun and positive introduction to sports!

Thank you all! :)

Making Friends Any parents with toddlers free on Nov 14th?

Lmao ik the title sounds off😂😂😂 My son is turning 5 and having a Los Angeles Rams themed birthday party on Saturday, November 14th! I don't have many friends who have kids around his age, so I'd love to connect with other parents and have some little ones there to celebrate with him. The setup is best for active toddlers who can already run and jump around on their own. If you’re interested, comment and we can take the convo to a different more identifiable app and send invites!

I was wondering if any of you kind people happen to have something (food) with mold growing on it, if I’d be able to take it off your hands?

Ask Fresno Helping a friend with severe depression need resources!

Hi! I'm looking for a free women's group or support group for a friend. She's been struggling with depression and the pain of being estranged from her adult daughter and grandchildren. I'm hoping to find a welcoming group where she can make connections with other women, talk about difficult life experiences, and receive emotional or spiritual support. Do you have any women's fellowship groups, grief support groups, or other programs that might be a good fit? Thank you!

Pets Rehoming my special needs red-eared slider 😔

Post image
105 Upvotes

It breaks my heart to have to make a post like this, but I've genuinely hot rock bottom. Long story short, I am no longer able to afford keeping my beloved Cassie, especially since I want her to be as comfortable as possible. She lives in a tank that's far too small for her, and I want nothing more than for her to have her own 150 gallon stock tank.

I was in the works of making this happen, but my financial situation took an unexpected turn. I've had her for a long while, and it really pains me to even consider letting her go. I know it's probably for the best.

I know of a turtle sanctuary that is near where I live, but as the title states, she is special needs. As most albinos go, she's almost entirely blind and needs to be in her own tank (her pink-ish skin makes other turtles bully or try to eat her 😭). She was also possibly born with kyphosis.

My plan was to upgrade her into a 150 gallon stock tank with a 250 gallon capacity filter and then fill it with sand (she hasn't shown much interest in anything else other than foraging/digging)

This is something I'm no longer able to afford, at least not for a long time. That amount of time in a tank too small will probably be detrimental to her health. If it had been my choice, I wouldn't have gotten her at all. I knew the responsibility and cost it would take to keep a red-eared slider, but a friend gifted her to me. I'm also disabled myself, so keeping up with the water changes has been detrimental to my own physical well being.

Is there anyone who would be able to take her in or anyone who knows anyone who might? I just want her to go to a loving home and live out her life comfortably. I love her too much to let her possibly suffer under my care

Living Here Orientation Challenges

I've been here in Fresno a little over a year. I can get where I'm going just fine, but I still _feel_ like I'm traveling 90° in a different direction. Like, in my mind, when I'm heading along Shepherd toward Friant, I'm going west but my mind says north.

Going from Shepherd to Campus Pointe along Chestnut, I'm going south but feel like I'm going west.

The other day, I saw geese fly over west-to-east, and I wondered if there's some kind of magnetic anomaly, and they're disoriented, too.

Anyone else struggle with "feeling" magnetic north here? I'm perfectly open to the idea I just got it wrong initially and "locked it in" that way, but I'm struggling to correct it!
