Apparently I'm a maths genius at 7am. Still can't get out of bed.

I've reached the point where Alarmy is basically a puzzle game I play while unconscious.

QR code? Done. Photo? Done. Maths? Apparently I'm a freaking genius at 7am.
Then straight back to sleep.

The worst part is I'm actually completing the missions. My brain just doesn't feel the need to invite the rest of me to participate.

So I did the completely normal, mentally stable thing and built another alarm app.
Called it VocalWake. it makes me actually walk a set number of steps, and if I try shaking the phone to cheat, it makes me do more. Then I have to say a different motivational quote out loud before the alarm shuts up.

Which is nice. Apparently my alarm believes in me more than I do.

Has anyone found an alarm their half-asleep brain can't bullshit its way past?

Because at this point I'm in an arms race with a bloke who isn't even conscious.

Two months of waking up at 7:30 AM without snoozing

I've always been terrible at mornings…. Like, really bad and I tried everything to fix it. Alarm apps that make you solve math problems before you can turn them off. Apps that make you take a photo of your fridge. I even put my phone in the kitchen overnight. I asked my girlfriend to wake me up. Nothing stuck for longer than a week

I'd snooze, roll over, and feel guilty about it all day.

Then I found one app and it's not just an alarm clock. It walks you through a series of actions, one after another. You wake up, do step one, then step two, then step three, and it keeps going. It builds momentum before your brain has a chance to argue. You just follow the steps

The first week was rough. Every single step was pure willpower. I wanted to quit. I wanted to stay in bed. But I pushed through.

The second week, something shifted. I don't know exactly what happened. But I started waking up without the drama. No snooze. No inner debate. No lying there negotiating with myself.

I've been waking up at 7:30 AM for two months now and that's my personal record. I feel much better and I have more energy. I'm getting more done before 9 AM than I used to get done all morning.

Has anyone else tried something like this? Did it stick, or did it fade after a few weeks?

How to fall asleep early

My problem is, that I’m used to scroll on social media and watch videos/tv etc every night so I can fall asleep. But it’s also procrastinating my sleep and I know it’s not good (blue light etc.). I have bluelight blocker glasses as well which I think help a bit. But it’s extremely hard to persist with the boredom and racing thoughts when you try to just put phone and TV down the hours before sleep. Unfortunately I can’t fall asleep like that.

Even worse is that because for a new job I may be starting soon I might have to get up way earlier, which potentially is a main issue for me. Since I need to have a certain amount of sleeping hours (preferably 8) to function well the next day. It’s so frustrating. I don’t want this to hinder me from working a job that requires that.

Any advice?

Nothing wakes me up !

Hey everyone!

I’m a third-year architecture student, and I’m struggling with being an EXTREMELY heavy sleeper. My iPhone alarms don’t wake me up, and I apparently snooze them in my sleep without realising it even if it is the highest of volume , I cannot hear my parents waking me up .

I’ve even tried Alarmy, but I solve the maths problems, colour puzzles, and photo missions and immediately go back to sleep. Keeping my phone away from my bed doesn’t help either. I basically need someone to physically hit me for me to be awake .Also tried setting loud pop songs . Did not help either , I’m sleeping through it all .

My other problem is that I cannot take power naps. If I lie down for a 15–20 minute nap, I end up sleeping for FIVE HOURS. Plus it’s always 5 hours after sleeping for 5 hours I automatically wake up .

The only thing that sometimes works is when my friends call and talk to me, but even that isn’t reliable.

I’m at the point where my alarms drain my phone battery, and my phone gets ridiculously hot from ringing constantly that I can fry an egg on top of it 😭😭

Has anyone else dealt with this? Are there any alarm clocks, vibrating devices, or techniques that actually work for heavy sleepers? And is there a way to take a short nap without accidentally sleeping for hours?
I’d really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

An alarm that makes me get out of bed

It’s called Wake TF Up (Please if anyone have better name suggest it I really suck at this area). Print the QR code and put it somewhere far from your bed, like the bathroom. When the alarm rings, you have to get up and scan it to turn it off.

Made for anyone who keeps hitting snooze.

  • QR challenge or normal dismiss and snooze
  • Repeat schedules and 10 built-in alarm sounds
  • Import your own audio
  • Light and dark themes

Cost: Free, no ads or paid features. Optional Ko-fi support.

Download: Github Release

Feedback greatly appreciated

Short background: I am terrible at waking up. Sometimes i unconsciously turn off my alarm and I thought, why not make an alarm that will force me to stand up and wake myself up

i need an alarm clock that can let me set multiple alarms from an app, but one that makes u have to physically out of bed to turn it off

  1. i use my phone as my alarm and it's next to my bed so i keep turning off my alarms in my sleep and im thinking getting out of bed first is the only way to force me to wake up.

  2. if im already in bed for the night i am staying bed lol. im too tired and lazy to put my phone across the room if im already in bed. i wake up and go to bed at diff times everyday so i need to be able to set it from my phone bc i just know there will be a time where im already in bed and then suddenly remember that i forgot to set it for the next day, and am not gonna get up lol.

does anyone have any product recommendations, even just a different strategy to solve this

how do you wake up early without feeling tired every morning?

I've tried setting multiple alarms, going to bed earlier, and staying off my phone before bed, but I still wake up feeling exhausted. For those who are good at waking up early, what actually helped you?

I need at least 8 alarms to wake up in the morning

I've always needed many consecutive alarms to get up in the morning and I've noticed the more years pass I need more lol

When I was younger 5 alarms were enought, now at least 8 separated by 5 minutes and a differt sound for the last one.

Everything fine on the day to day routine, the problem was when for example I need to go to work 1 hour before from normal. Not great to move 8 alarms one by one.

I always found it frustating to manually move so many alarms.

yes on Alarmy there is a way to set multiple alarms but still one by one, and tbh the amount of ads in that app is beyond my supported limit.

I've developed my own alarm app with the concept of alarm groups.

Set a starting time.

Set the count of alarms.

Set the minutes between them.

Done. I have my 8 alarms that can optionally be manually configured.

After more than 2 months of using it I've introduced the "Random sound" to wake my brain up to a different sound everytime and not get used to the same sound.

If anyone is interested here is the Android version to try: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.albaalarm.app

This is an app I made for myself primary and since I'm an android user I've not developed the iOS app yet but if someone is interested I could go for it.

How are people actually getting out of bed on time without hating their life?

I swear every morning routine I see now is either superhuman or sponsored by 4 or more different apps. For normal people with average sleep and zero discipline.. what's actually working lately?

what time do you tell yourself you're going to bed vs when do you ACTUALLY go to bed?

mine is getting ridiculous lol

target in my head: around 12

reality: 2-3am way too often

and the annoying part is that I know exactly what happens next. wake up late/tired, whole morning feels off, tell myself tonight will be different, repeat.

I'm trying something stupidly simple for the next 7 days:

pick one bedtime and actually report whether I made it every night.

no perfect morning routine. no fixing my whole life.

just sleep when I said I would.

curious what the gap is for everyone else:

planned bedtime → actual bedtime?

Guys what do you feel in the morning when you wake up until you sleep in the evening ? I want what you guys do in detail because I like to listen to everyone’s story and how they feel everday from the moment they wake up to the moment they sleep.
