Transport Heidelberg buses are terrible

As the title says, after living 5 years in the city the public transport has only gotten worst. People shouldn't gamble on a daily basis to see if their bus passes or if it was canceled as always

Do the RNV workers and specially management actually take public transport? It seems designed to push people to buy cars.

Buses like the 20 that would always be crowded are canceled almost all day which shows the lack of touch with reality of whoever manages sthe lines.

Every year, we are forced to pay more for a public transport that only gets worst. Is there any hope that we will get a basic reliable public transport?

Transport What is up with the public transport in Heidelberg?

So they want us to take public transport and save the environment, all great. But what the f*** is up with all the cancelled buses and trams then?? Only one bus comes close to where I live, every 20 min. Yesterday multiple buses were cancelled, leading to a 40 min wait. I thought it was just one of those bad days, maybe a bus broke down etc. Then in the evening, same thing happens. Today, the apps show that the tram is coming, but nope, we skip 2 trams scheduled on the app and just directly come 20 min later..no cancelled notice nothing. Seriously, I am so done with this bullshit. I want a car.... even the traffic jams are better than this nightmare..

Transport Transfer from Frankfurt options

Hi folks, a good friend who has been extremely busy recently has to get to Heidelberg tomorrow, after arriving in Frankfurt airport around 18:00. She has some work in Heidelberg and is staying in Hotel Europäischer Hof Heidelberg.

Would it be simple to get a direct train from the airport, are they regular? She would prefer not to have to change. Would an Uber be reasonable, or would a taxi be better? I assume she’ll need to get a car of some kind from the station in Heidelberg to the hotel if she does get the train.

Obviously she’s trying to balance cost and convenience, and I’m a bit concerned as she’s traveling solo, it’ll be dark, she’ll be very tired, and she doesn’t speak German. Any advice and approximate prices involved would be gratefully received.

Transport Mannheim to Heidelberg - daily

Hi everyone! Looking for some advice here:

I've recently been admitted to DKFZ as a PhD, and will be moving there this summer alongside my mini dachshund.

Just in these last 2 weeks on immoscout I've noticed that finding a spot within Heidelberg that fits my budget, allows pets and is possible for an American to reserve may be very tricky. In conjunction, I've heard great things about Mannheim, especially since I am LGBT and have heard the nightlife there is better, and apartment availability/affordability seems to be much greater.

Now comes the kicker: do you think it is possible to stay in Mannheim and commute every day to HD (~5 days a week)? Google Maps says it's not too bad, but I know the lived experience can be much different, so hoping to have some locals with experience chime in.

Please let me know what you think! Prost & danke !!

Danke!

Transport Doubts about the Deutschland ticket

I'll be moving to Heidelberg for three months and, since my apartment is at Dossenheim, I will be taking the tram everyday more than once. I've read that the best thing fr this situation is to buy the Deutschland ticket.

I've downloaded the app DB Navigator and I've done everything they asked me to buy it. At the end, they asked me to scan my ID and it said that they would let me know when they have it verified. It has been days and I know nothing about it. I cannot purchase it until they check my ID. Is it normal for it to take this long? Is there an alternative?

Transport Driving through Heidelberg next week — good place to park car long term in/ near the Altstadt?

Family will be driving to and staying in the Altstadt. Our hotel doesn't have parking, and I'm hoping to find a place to park the car for a few days. Any recommendations? Any advice on how much garages would cost for daily parking. Thank you, looking forward to seeing the city!!

Transport Eine Woche kostenlos parken

Danke schonmal an alle :)
