Non Political My roommates make fun of my skin colour

I’m a 30-year-old Indian man living with roommates who are around 25. They compare me to Gaitonde from Drishyam because I have darker brown skin than they do.

It hurts. It makes me feel like people can say whatever they want about my appearance without considering how I might feel.

I already overthink before speaking to people, and comments like these make me even more self-conscious. I find myself worrying about how people will judge me instead of feeling comfortable having a conversation.

I’m frustrated by how normalised colourism is among Indians. Why is having darker skin something to mock? Being made to feel inferior because of your skin colour is painful, especially when it comes from people you live with.

Business/Finance Kotak 811 deducted ₹1,199 for Group Smart Health insurance without my knowledge how can I get a refund?

Hi everyone,

I have a Kotak 811 account, and I recently discovered that ₹1,199 was paid towards a Kotak Group Smart Health insurance policy.

I received an email titled “Kotak insurance alerts” stating that my policy had been issued successfully and that the premium of ₹1,199 had been received.

The problem is that I did not knowingly consent to purchasing this insurance policy. I want to understand how the policy was enrolled in my name and how I can recover my money.

Has anyone faced a similar situation with Kotak Mahindra Bank?

I would appreciate advice on the following:

  1. How do I dispute an insurance policy that I did not knowingly agree to purchase?

  2. Can I request immediate cancellation and a full refund of ₹1,199?

  3. Should I complain to Kotak Bank, the insurance company, or both?

  4. Can I escalate this to IRDAI through Bima Bharosa if Kotak does not resolve the complaint?

  5. What evidence should I request from Kotak to establish how my consent was obtained?

I have retained the confirmation email and will keep the policy documents and transaction details as evidence.

I would appreciate advice from anyone who has successfully obtained a refund in a similar situation.

Thank you.

Food Restaurant owner facing unresolved Zomato ad charges, payout issues and account management problems

I've been dealing with unresolved issues with Zomato for years, and I'm sharing my experience to hear from other restaurant owners.

Here's what happened:

  • Ads: I requested an advertising pause for outlet on September 3 and followed up on September 21, yet I kept chasing a resolution.
  • Payouts: One statement showed ₹85,132 in net order value but an estimated payout of ₹42,622, including ₹14,372 in advertising charges and other deductions.
  • Account management: My new POC says he's new and cannot comment on past events. He now says he'll stop the ads, but why did it take so long?
  • Contracts: I'm being asked to make contract decisions while the earlier issues remain unresolved.

I understand the new manager wasn't involved in the past. But changing POCs shouldn't mean starting from scratch or leaving old complaints without ownership.

I have the email trail, WhatsApp messages and payout screenshots.

Have other restaurant owners faced similar issues with Zomato? How did you get them resolved?

Crime I'm done with this country. I'm waiting here for him in the mortuary.

1.2k Upvotes

I'm done with this country. I'm waiting here for him in the mortuary.

I'm sitting here waiting for my mama's body from the mortuary.

My mama was an anchal adhikari who used to manage land allotment and things related to do with land. Most probably more than one man entered who he knew. He was in the kitchen maybe serving them water. He used to live alone and we were waiting for mami to get a transfer from her job to area where he used to live. Nobody knew until yesterday 6pm. His body was soaked in blood from the head trauma. Bastards covered his face with a pillow so he couldn't scream. They took all the CCTV footage and the two phones he had. We got to know when the mobile numbers were not reachable. It's most probably the work of a political party as there was a black colored and black tinted Scorpio N which was standing just 100m from the scene. Bloody bastards knew where all the cctv were and where to go so no other camera from other house could capture them.

Just because there were no vacancy he couldn't become and engineer and unwillingly accepted the joining letter. I lifted his body on an ambulance from the scene. His body was cold. Ice cold. His body became stiff. I helped wrap his body in a blue bag. After seeing his blood on my hands I realized he was no more. I tucked his hands close to his body to fit into the wrap.

He was a very simple man with a daughter and a wife. The papa papa cry from her made my heart ache so much. She doesn't know what has happened. She keeps says when are we going to see papa. My nani's and mami's cries made me numb down the spine.

They fucking murdered him just for a piece of land. Fcukers knew what his daily routine was and killed him so brutally. A hit to his head and not even letting him scream. Such a great country. I stand pround of being an Indian where I'm a nobody if I don't do what some fucking mafia tells me. I'll be brutally killed by hitting on the head. Nobody did their job including the officials. No one was wearing gloves. Taking stuff with bare hands. Not even bringing a trained dog. Taking hours to collect evidence. Even now the officials are making us wait to collect the body. They didn't handled any sort of paper to us yesterday saying they'll give today.

I've lost hope from this country. It has not given me anything in return for all the taxes they collect. Neither a better living condition nor justice. I've also lost trust in people. In this country you are your own safety. No one will protect you unless you have any political affiliation. Fuck this country fuck this government and fuck me my family for existing here.

I don't know why I'm sharing this here. Maybe to gain sympathy or help. I don't believe there is any help for people like me. Maybe sympathy will lessen the pain which I felt in just these 8 hours. Fuck this system.

Careers Tier 2 - Need Advice!

I live in Tier 2 city, and I've struggled with education-learning as kid due to health, both physical and mental wise. So I've barely passed my school & college education, in the sense as sometimes got average decent score other times not so good.

Mainly I didn't learn as I was not in state to focus back then. So I got no knowledge of anything, did odd part times which were of no use - I choose the easy ones due to focus issues. Now been taking care of myself past year more with fam support, but personal bills been increasing and as middle class, feel horrible for not being about to help fam responsibilities even as I'm in mid 20s now.

I'm not looking to move rn, mentally nor financially can't right now.

I'm not techie, I researched few, like my small interest - photography, it doesn't earn well unless decade experience, so its only hobby. I looked at Business/Analyst, Consultant, etc but unclear. I want to do something but don't know where to start. Made posts on it but didn't get much response.

I want to know about how career is in Tier 2 and what are the things I can do, learn and earn well soon. Please kindly do share what you know guys!!

Careers What do Indian recruiters look for in a resume/CV?

• Upvotes

Hello everyone,

In order to complete his engineering degree, a friend of mine needs to gain professional experience in another country. His current company has a branch in India, so he would like to apply for a placement there to complete his training

He was born in India but has spent most of his life in Europe, so he’s not really familiar with the local job application customs. From what he has heard, resumes in India tend to be linear, with a simple layout, no photos, and little use of colour, unlike resumes commonly seen in western countries. But I’d rather ask locals who are truely familiar with the indian job market to make sure he doesn’t unintentionally make any cultural faux pas and rubs the recruters the wrong way unknowingly

He speaks both the local language and english fluently, and it's for a compagny in the tech/aerospace field

Are there any specific Indian resume conventions or cultural expectations he should be aware of? For example, what informations should he highlight, what format is generally preferred, and are there any common mistakes applicants should avoid?

Thank you for taking the time to read and for any of your advices!

People Question for the adults here.. Can a stranger ever become the most interesting part of your day?

30M here. It's funny how adult life becomes so predictable — work, responsibilities, the same familiar faces, the same conversations.

And then, occasionally, you meet someone completely random who has the right sense of humour, challenges your opinions, teases you a little, and somehow makes you look forward to talking to them again.

No grand expectations. Just that rare connection where the conversation flows effortlessly and you lose track of time.

So I'm curious: have you ever met someone online who started as a complete stranger but ended up making your everyday life a little more exciting? What made that connection different?

Genuinely interested in hearing your experiences.

Crime SwiggyInstamart took ₹15,002 cancelled my phone order citing "technical issues"and Deactivated my ac

I need some urgent advice and wanted to share what just happened with Swiggy Instamart because this feels like straight-up robbery and harassment.

The Order: 24th oct. 12:31 afternoon I ordered a smartphone (Redmi A7 Pro 5G) worth ₹15,002 from Swiggy Instamart (Order ID: #25179465908754). Payment went through smoothly via card.

Abrupt Cancellation: A few minutes later, without any valid explanation, Swiggy cancelled the order on their end stating "due to some technical issue".

Chat Support: I immediately connected with their chat agent (Sakshi). She told me a refund of 15,002 had been initiated and instructed me to check the RRN number in the app.

The Trap - Deactivation: Minutes after closing that chat, my app session expired. When I tried to log back in to track the refund or get the full reference number, I was hit with: "Account deactivated"

Completely Blocked: I tried logging in from another number on the same device and it worked fine, but my registered number is completely blocked from logging in on both the app and web. None of their phone support lines connect to a human agent.

Crime Tired of Bajaj Finance pestering time for Payback

I’ve done everything I can think of to get myself off Bajaj Finance’s calling list. I registered for DND. Reported the calls on Sanchar Saathi. Reached out to Bajaj Finance’s team.

And what’s their response? These are independent agents, and they can’t control them.

What a fucking convenient excuse.

These agents are selling Bajaj Finance’s products and getting paid for it. But when they start harassing people, suddenly nobody is responsible. Bajaj Finance gets the business, the agents get their commissions, and the rest of us get to deal with 100s of unwanted calls. Everyone benefits except the person being harassed.

I’m honestly tired of businesses getting away with this shit.

If you’re fed up too, DM me. I’ll share an Excel sheet with the personal email and mobile number of Bajaj Finance’s management. Reach out to them and tell them exactly how you feel about their sales practices. Maybe they should experience a fraction of the frustration their customers deal with every day.

And if there are other businesses pulling the same shit, mention them in the comments. I'll share their details as well.

If they can’t stop the harassment, they shouldn’t get to hide behind the people doing it.
