🔥 Mod Announcement 🔥 Watch Club

Hi ladies

u/Valuable-Machine-500 suggested the idea of a Watch Club in this post:

I thought it was an interesting idea and worth exploring as a community activity.

The general idea would be to:

  • Choose a series (and possibly movies)
  • Watch over a set period
  • Have ongoing discussions
  • Meet at the end to talk through themes and then decide what to watch next

u/StrawberryEast1374 since you mentioned using Discord for this, you could go ahead and create a server and share the invite link here.

Once the link is ready, I’ll post it officially and add it to the community wiki so anyone interested can join.

Rant Ghosted after intimacy

Wahh, I know this is a tale as old as time, na I never really thought this man would do this to me, but wueeh, no one is above the program. 😭

I said I'd never cry over a guy I never dated, but this is hitting me so hard. I really liked this guy. He went above and beyond for me, and I genuinely felt safe and comfortable around him. Then we had sex (which isn't usually very easy for me to do), alafu he started acting shady and disappeared.

I blocked him for my own good, mostly because I didn't want to beg a man to start acting right. But it still hurts. I want to scream at him for being so inconsiderate. Like, si angeniambia tu that he only wanted sex ndio nisicatch feelings?

We're both adults, and communicating his intentions honestly from the start would have made things so much easier for me.

How do you even start getting over something like this?

Question Has anyone else ever felt like they were sort of bicurious?

Lately, I've been finding myself curious about women in a way I haven't really experienced before, and I'm trying to figure out what it means for me. Part of me wants to explore that curiosity, but another part of me isn't sure whether to act on it or just let things unfold naturally.

For those who've been in a similar situation, did you decide to explore it or leave it as a curiosity?

I'm really interested in hearing your personal experiences. What did you do when you first started feeling this way, and how do you feel about that decision now?

Career So, a little update about my small business...😁

If you know me, you know I'm a pretty impulsive person 😂. I get an idea, get excited about it, and sometimes just jump straight into things without even knowing how I'm going to make them work.

That's literally how I started this business in August. I didn't have everything figured out. I didn't have some big plan. I just had an idea, decided to try it, and somehow here we are. And ,to be quite honest, this is one of the best decisions I've ever made 😭❤️.

And honestly, one thing about me is that I've never really been the person to start something and stick with it. So seeing myself actually build something, keep showing up for it, and watch it grow has been such a beautiful experience for me. We're still a work in progress, but I'm genuinely so grateful for how far we've come.

Of course, being me, I wanted to do EVERYTHING at once 😂. Massages, waxing, lashes, nails... every single beauty service that exists 😂. I quickly realised that I'm one person, and as much as I wanted to offer all these services, I couldn't do everything by myself all at once.

So I decided to focus on massages first, build my clientele, learn, and take things one step at a time.

Now that things are going well with the massages, I'm excited to start adding waxing and lash services too🥹🫶🏽.

I'm still figuring things out as I go, but I'm excited about where Grey’s Touch is headed. I want to keep getting better at what I do, grow my clientele, and give my clients the kind of experience that makes them feel comfortable, relaxed, and happy they chose me.

And to everyone who has booked me, recommended me to someone, shared my posts, or simply cheered me on, thank you. You might think it's a small thing, but it really isn't to me. ❤️

Anywayyy, if you've been putting off that massage, need a wax, or want your lashes done, I'm now taking bookings for all three 😌.

And yes, I come to you, so you can enjoy your services in the comfort of your own home. For bookings and inquiries, feel free to DM me 😁.

We're taking this one step at a time, and I'm honestly just happy we're here. ❤️🥹

Discussion Why do we still name our children after their fathers?

I understand that in the old days, kids were named after their fathers because they owned the property and the women were considered subordinate to their husbands.

But now things have changed. So, why do we still name our kids after their dads? What's so wrong about the kid having their mum's middle name? And lastly, would you name your kid after yourself, even if the dad is present?

Discussion Maybe I am the problem, or am I the only sane person in this?

I haven’t believed in God since I was 14. I grew up religious, and it’s not that I hate religion. At some point, it stopped making sense to me, and I couldn’t enjoy going to church or praying anymore. Now, attending church feels torturous and pointless because I feel like a hypocrite.

My family’s deep-rooted, almost cult-like religious traditions have caused a lot of tension. I’ve isolated myself, partly because I feel suffocated by how every conversation turns into an attempt to force religion on me. My mum keeps saying she’s praying for me to see the light. When I explain that I don’t believe because it doesn’t make logical sense to me, they ask, “Kwani wao ndio wajinga waamini?” I’ve never tried to stop them from believing or question their faith. I even try to attend important church occasions for the family. Yet, my not being religious is treated as a personal insult.
Recently, my family pressured me to contribute money towards building my grandma’s home. I explained that the request was last-minute and I had school fees and other expenses, but I was still willing to help with what I could afford. They took that as a no and have since excluded me from the entire project.
My mum is also coming back to the country, and I’m dreading seeing her. I’ve been trying to rebuild our relationship, but it’s still fragile. She continues making condescending remarks about God cursing me or praying for me because I don’t communicate with her enough. I didn’t even know she was coming back because our conversations rarely feel normal. They’re usually filled with religious or emotional blackmail, yet she tells everyone that I’m the one who doesn’t want to talk to her.
I feel like an outcast for having boundaries and choosing my own beliefs. Everyone keeps telling me to fix my relationship with my mum, go to church, and contribute to the project. I’m exhausted from constantly being expected to compromise my beliefs and boundaries to keep the peace.

I know I’m a kind person, but sometimes I genuinely wonder whether I’m selfish or whether I’m simply tired of being made to feel guilty for not living according to everyone else’s expectations.

I have been doing this as a hobby for myself until earlier this year when my shy AF ass decided to work against my own anxieties. Now I'm becoming a businesswoman.

My most common materials are velvet, denim, wool/fur, and leather. I can use your material or mine. I'm based in Ongata Rongai, but I take orders from anywhere in or near Nairobi.

Rant Soul tie?

Well, idk how to even start this but I am so convinced my ex and I have a soul tie or sth😭.

My ex and I dated for like 4½ years, and broke up last November (for context, 2 of these years were in high school so idk if I should really count them since we'd only communicate during the holidays)

So I broke up with him. A lot of things were happening at the time and it just got to a point. But for context, he was hyper insecure (despite me never giving him a rsn to doubt me), communication was off, and idk, had a huge victim complex

So these, among other rsns, pushed me to break up with him, despite me still liking him. Healing took a lot of time but I soldiered thru it (especially after finding out later that he had a thing going on with a mutual friend)

Anyway, back to the soul tie thing. In uni, alifika a particular year then had to retake and he ultimately decided to like drop out and restart like with another course. And guess what happened to me recently!😭 Got to the same year, and I had to retake. Then like 2 weeks ago, I got an offer to study abroad on the course that he decided to take after dropping out😐 (I am srsly considering it btw)

And cherry on top. I genuinely thought I was over him and all, but wueh 😭. I saw him like 2 months ago and throughout that week, I was CONSISTENTLY DREAMING of this guy.

I had sex once since the break up (TMI ik but bear with me) and all I could think of Is how my ex was better💀💀

Anyway, ik what y'all might be thinking. I'm not over him. And I know that for a fact. But I'd never go back. Regardless of the love that might have been there, respect, consideration and other stuff I regard mundane of a relationship were lacking. I just want to move on honestly 😭

Rant How Many Times Will These Children Be Returned to Neglectful Parents Without Follow-Up?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey Reddit fam, remember the two kids I took to Riruta Police Station after their parents left them outside? 😭

So, here's another update.

After the last incident, the parents went and paid whatever was required and took the children from Kabete Rescue Centre. Honestly, after everything that happened, I had given up and stopped paying much attention because I felt like I had done my part.

Yesterday, I got a call from my firstborn telling me, "Mummy, Ruth na brother yake wako nje, na kunanyesha. Wakuje kwetu? Mlango imefungwa kwako again."

I said no because, honestly, I have my own children and problems to deal with. I can't keep taking responsibility for children whose parents keep neglecting them.

I came back from my errands around 9 p.m., and the children were still outside. By 11:30 p.m., they were still there, and by midnight, with the rain continuing, they were still outside. My daughter found them again while it was drizzling, and one of my neighbours pleaded with me to take them in because her husband wouldn't allow her to keep them.

Eventually, some women in the flats came together, and we decided to look for the mother. Their father had apparently left the situation last week, but the mother was still around.

And guess what? Instead of taking responsibility, she started insulting me, despite everything I've tried to do for her children. 💔

What hurts me most is that both parents drink, and these children keep being left outside without proper care. The parents have reportedly been arrested multiple times, yet the children keep being returned to them, and the same thing happens again.

Why are the children being handed back without proper follow-up? Do the police keep records of these repeated arrests and reports? Is anyone checking whether the situation at home has actually changed before the children are returned?

I'm genuinely trying to understand how this works because Riruta Police Station is near Kinyanjui Road, and I thought the whole point of intervening was to protect these children.

The last time, I took them to the police because I genuinely believed they would be safer. They were taken to Kabete Rescue Centre, only for the parents to get them back, and now we're back to the same situation.

How many times are these children supposed to be left outside in the rain before someone takes their situation seriously?

I know I said I had given up, and honestly, I have reached my limit. I have my own children to feed, school expenses, rent, and so many other things I'm struggling with. I can't keep being the only person who steps in whenever these children are abandoned.

But seeing them outside in the rain is heartbreaking. They're just little children. They didn't choose the parents they were born to.

My question is, why was there no follow-up after the parents collected them from Kabete? Is there someone who can explain how this process is supposed to work, or who can actually intervene to make sure these children are safe?

Because clearly, whatever happened last time didn't solve anything. 😔💔

I’ve attached a picture and a video showing Ruth and her little brother outside late at night while it was raining. The video is dark, so you may not see them clearly, but you can hear us talking in the background. The attachments show the situation I found them in that night, still outside while their house was locked. 😔💔

Health & Fitness HPV

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a very common group of more than 100 related viruses. It spreads mainly through direct skin to skin contact, most often during vaginal, anal, or oral sex, and it can be passed even when the infected person has no signs or symptoms. Men play an important role in transmission.

Most men who carry HPV have no symptoms and are never tested, because there is no routine screening test for men, so they can pass the virus to their partners without knowing it. Having multiple sexual partners, or a partner who has had many, raises the risk of infection and spread.

Uncircumcised men may carry the virus more easily, and men can also develop HPV related conditions themselves, such as genital warts and cancers of the penis, anus, and throat. Condoms reduce the risk but do not fully prevent transmission, because the virus can infect areas they do not cover. Less commonly, it can spread through close genital contact without penetration, and a mother can pass it to her baby during childbirth, rarely causing warts in the baby's throat.

Most infections cause no symptoms and clear on their own within one to two years, but some types persist. Low risk types can cause genital warts, while high risk types, especially HPV 16 and 18, can cause cell changes that may lead to cancer of the cervix over many years. They are also linked to cancers of the anus, vulva, vagina, penis, and throat. Because early changes often cause no symptoms, regular cervical screening, such as a Pap smear or HPV test, is important for detecting problems early.

The HPV vaccine protects against the most harmful types and works best when given before exposure, usually between ages 9 and 14, though it can benefit older people too. Vaccinating boys as well as girls helps cut transmission and protects men from HPV related disease. Together, vaccination, screening, and safer sex practices greatly reduce the risk of HPV related disease.

Discussion Terrible Moms

Question...As girlies, do some of us have shitty parents? and to be specific, shitty moms? Ik this has probably been discussed before, but just answer, do we? If you do, how do you handle this?

I've discussed this with acquaintances, and most of them find it weird when I say that I have an extremely shitty mom, and I genuinely dislike her. Is society conditioned to believe just because someone is a mom, they're automatically "angels"?. I mean, everyone can be a terrible person regardless, right?

Am I not allowed to lose respect for her just because she birthed me? I've gaslit myself countless times saying that I could be the problem, but I'm clearly not. I have a mom with a "god" complex, and I've had my last straw, and it should be okay to cut her off, right?

I'm saying this because I'd like to know your views.
