Finally, this sub has always been against hate, racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, and bigotry in general. It always will be. These are not political issues, they are matters of basic human decency. If you have a problem with that, unsubscribe.

UALR exchange students looking for friends
Hi! My cousins ages 20M and 22F from Tokyo have been at UALR studying English since August, but are having trouble making friends on campus. They live with me and have fun hanging out with my friends, but we are all in our late 30s and I know they’d love to make friends their own age.
They’ve talked to people in the library/cafeteria on breaks a bit, and have hung out a few times with some people but not consistently. Any resources to help find them some student meetups or just any ideas to help them find friends are appreciated! We end up mostly speaking Japanese at home, and I know their English would improve so much more quickly if they were making some more friends who are native English speakers.
Thanks for any suggestions!!

Discussion/Question Hello small business owners! which service subscription stresses you the most?
Hello back bones of our local economy and community.
Things are getting more and more expensive. everything is going up except our income.
As a small business owner, one often must have to take care of nitty gritty things (payroll, inventory check, planner/scheduling etc) which we allocate to subscription based services so owners can focus on more important things right?
what service subscriptions are putting more stress to your business finance that you wish it can be done locally? like if you can have your own computer assistance instead of paying companies thousands of dollars?
which ones feel predatory and wish to do it yourself if you could?

Stray Dog Help
TLDR: Looking for an organization or someone that can temporarily house or take a stray in case Little Rock Animal Village is full & not accepting dogs on 10/26/2026.
Long rant but I don't know where else to look or what to do so I'm posting here. I found a stray dog on the highway and have been taking care of her for the past 24 hours cleaning her up and getting all the fleas and ticks off her while feeding her. Current plan is to take her to Little Rock Animal Village tomorrow (10-26) as a drop off. I'm leaving town for work Wednesday morning and currently have no working phone (phone broke yesterday & new one I bought today requires 24 hour wait for verification) to call and ask for resources on where I can take her otherwise.
I've just got hit with the worst storm of events between my phone breaking, the new one needing a verification period, having a work trip, & not enough money due to fronting the work trip & my phone breaking to use Grover or house her up somewhere and looking for help/advice.
Is anyone available to take her (or house her for 9 days until I get back in town) or recommend other organizations open tomorrow that can take her in case Little Rock Animal Village falls through? Or other organizations/options that are no kill and open tomorrow.

Moving to LR!
Hey everyone! Like the title says I’ll be moving to LR Nov 15th specifically the Capitol View-Shifft Station area. I would like to know what the best ways to make friends are! I like anything that requires being active and outside. I also like bars here and there as well. I am a flight attendant, apart of the lgbt community, and black, with a moderate political background. I’m typically gone 4 days out of 7 days at a time. What does the locals recommend I do?!

Visiting Little Rock in November. What are your favorite hikes?
Visiting Little Rock in early November. I want to hear your BEST hikes for views?
I’ll have a car. I’m comfortable with moderate to strenuous trails (but nothing too brutal), and I’m happy to drive up to an hour from Little Rock for something great. Views are my main goal, and fall color would be a bonus.
Specific trail names and parks would be really helpful. Also open to tips on trail conditions, parking, or good post-hike food. Thanks!

Moving to LR- Advice plz
I am up for a job in southwest Little Rock. I am wanting to know what suburb would be best (30 min from that side of town max ish commute) to raise kids in that is safe.
I have heard about Bryant, Benton, Haskell, and want to know everyone’s thoughts on them, and add any other places that I might not know about.
Also, where do I absolutely avoid in Little Rock, and where is safe to shop etc.
Is it as dangerous as everyone says?

Moving to Little Rock. Are tornadoes really as bad as the news makes them out to be?
Moving to the metro area in the spring from across the country for work. Are tornadoes really as prevalent as the news and internet make them out to be in LR? I know LR got hit a few years ago but was that just an anomaly or are they common? I always heard of tornado alley but I guess Dixie alley is a thing.

Event Starting a Mythology & Ancient Cultures Club!
Hi there! I've been really wanting to join a club or something that aligns with my interests, but I haven't really found anything around here. So I decided to start my own club!
If you have any interest in any myth or culture around the world, this club is for you! We'll hold free public monthly meetups (mainly in LR, Bryant, and/or Benton), doing themed events such as: movie nights, reading the classics, trivia, casual presentation nights, arts & crafts, and more!
Whether this has been your special interest for a long time, or you've just watched The Odyssey and want to learn more, every experience level is welcome.
Fill out this short application for our Discord server, and then we can plan our first meeting :D

Discussion/Question What restaurant is this? These photos were taken in April of 2017.
Me and a group of friends ate here many years ago, I wish to revisit it, if it is still here. I think we walked here from a parking garage, I think it was also near the water.

Study Partner/ Body Doubling
Hi, I (34F) am looking for a study partner to study with at a public place or library. Since I don’t drive, the UAMS library or a nearby place would be preferable.
My ADHD brain makes me procrastinate a lot, so I have trouble getting started on my tasks. I need someone to study with so we can keep each other accountable. I studied with my buddy, and I think it helped us a lot; they’re on a break now. If they join later, we can all study together.
It's not mandatory to be in a similar educational field or to be a full-time student. Anyone who is consistent, accountable, and willing to study together is enough, I guess. Participation isn’t necessary; presence is.
If anyone is interested, please comment here or DM me. We will share our schedule and move forward.
Thanks

Think someone's using the Flock cameras to track you? You don't have to start with LRPD. Here's who to call, and a records request you can copy.
Hi neighbors. After the Little Rock officer who searched one woman's plate 28 times, people asked: what would I do if this were me, and who do I tell if the person works for LRPD? Here's what I found.
In immediate danger, call 911. (Little Rock 911 sends LRPD.) For everything else, start outside LRPD:
- An advocate (not police): Women & Children First, 24 hours, (501) 376-3219. National DV Hotline, 1-800-799-7233.
- Arkansas State Police: (501) 618-8001. ASP is who investigates when a local officer is accused. If someone is controlling where you go or forcing you into work or sex, ASP's Human Trafficking Unit has a tip line at (866) 787-2332.
- Prosecuting Attorney (Pulaski County): (501) 340-8000. Stalking is a crime.
- FBI: tips.fbi.gov. It takes reports of officials abusing their power.
- LRPD Internal Affairs too, if you want a record there. File within 30 days to keep your right to appeal.
Keep notes that can hold up in court. Start now, and write each one the same day:
- the date, the time, where you were, and what happened
- how the person seemed to know where you'd been, in their exact words if you can
- screenshots of texts, calls and posts, with the date showing; don't edit or crop them
- names of anyone who saw or heard it
- a copy stored somewhere the person can't reach, like an email to yourself or a trusted friend
Stick to facts, not guesses. A dated, plain log is what a lawyer, prosecutor or judge can use.
Ask for the records of who searched your plate. Any Arkansas resident can. Being specific, and proving it's your car, makes it hard to brush off. LRPD's records office asks for proof that you live in Arkansas, so attach:
- a copy of your driver's license
- a copy of your vehicle registration, showing the plate is yours
Then email this to FOIA@littlerock.gov:
Subject: FOIA request: plate reader searches of my vehicle
I am an Arkansas resident and the registered owner of the vehicle with plate [PLATE] ([STATE]), a [YEAR MAKE MODEL]. Copies of my driver's license and registration are attached. Under the Arkansas FOIA (Ark. Code § 25-19-105), I request these records from [START DATE] to today:
Every entry in LRPD's Flock organization audit log, and in any other plate-reader system the City uses (including SkyCop and the Real Time Crime Center), where the search included this plate in full or in part. For each, the date and time, the user account, the stated reason and any case number.
Every entry in the Flock network audit log for searches of Little Rock cameras by other agencies during the same period that could include this plate.
Any hot list or custom alert that included this plate: who added it, when, why, and when it was removed.
Any audit, review or complaint that mentions this plate.
Please send electronic copies (CSV or PDF) by email. If anything is withheld or redacted, please cite the specific exemption and release the rest. Please tell me first if fees will exceed $25.
[NAME], [PHONE OR EMAIL]
Records are due promptly, usually within three working days. Plate photos are kept only 30 days, so send it soon.
Under 18? Ask a parent or guardian to help. The car is likely registered to them, so the request should come from them.
One caution: the request has your name on it and goes to the city LRPD works for. If the person you're worried about is close to you, talk to an advocate before you send it.
If what comes back shows something wrong, share it with a reporter, your director, or here (cover your plate and address). Don't name an officer until a record backs it up, and don't confront anyone yourself.
The 28 searches only came out because someone reported them. The person being tracked can't see these searches, and neither can the rest of us. The board takes up Flock on Tuesday, Oct 27, and Nov 3. If this worries you, tell your directors.
Email all of them: · City Hall: (501) 371-4510
