Is it normal/legal for people to electioneer next to the voting lines?
Went to vote at the library recently and there were people badgering those in line asking who they were going to vote for, explaining why their side is the only right choice, and trying to force AI flyers into people's hands that were filled with misinformation that demonized the other side. Is this normal/legal here? I am new to McKinney and have never seen this happen where I previously was. Thanks!

So there's no way it's legal to place these signs everywhere, right?
I'm all for supporting small businesses, but these signs have taken over the city and are such an eye sore.
Is there somewhere/someone to report this to?

Hate speech litter
galleryI live off of Eldorado & 75 and came across a TON of hateful rice filled ziplock bags, did anyone else in another area of McKinney get any of these? (the mass photo I picked up around my neighborhood)
Edit to add: a police report has been filed and the bags given to them for the report, if you received any bags or have additional info to add the report# is 26-003456 with Officer Katz.

Stonebridge Christmas lanterns
Last year, while visiting friends in December, we happened upon a street/cul de sac that had beautiful lanterns at night lining the street. If I remember correctly, there may have been a gazebo on the street as well? Was this a fever dream or does anyone know what I am talking about? Would love to see it again this year.

Need things to do and to talk to people
Hello, I am a 22 year old guy who just moved to Collin County 3 months ago for work and am struggling to find things to do and meet people. I am looking for places to go and things to do to potentially meet people my age instead of sitting in my apartment staring at a wall after work.
I enjoy nature/wildlife, art, learning new things, I enjoy music, games both digital and physical, drinking, films, comedy, and genuinely just need something to do to stop myself from being bored all the time.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know, I am getting rather desperate to have a social life again. Thanks.

Question about the Dart Mobility Program.
Does anyone in here use the DART mobility program in Collin county? I currently live in Plano but will be house sitting in McKinney for the next couple of months.
Does the program only take you to the McKinney area or does it take you into Collin the other areas that DART usually rides?
Thanks in advance.

Poor wording by Mckinney ISD on Prop E
The ballot did not detail the need for the track repair. And surprised that MISD school district did not break out Ron Poe Stadium improvements from newer stadium. Think residents would support the track or explicitly state that need. Both were bundled together (“stadiums”). Personally the district does not use the new stadium enough so what more is needed at the new stadium?
~~~~
Prop E — Upgrades to the Existing McKinney ISD Stadiums ($2.55M)
Replacing Aging Turf and Track So the Facilities Stay Safe to Use
The smallest proposition on the ballot at $2.55 million which is roughly one-half of one percent of the package. The turf at McKinney ISD Stadium is aging and needs replacement so the field can continue to be used safely by students across the district. The track at Ron Poe Stadium is deteriorating and needs foundation replacement and resurfacing.
Looking for local jewelry appraisal recs
Hi there! I am looking to potentially gift my mom jewelry appraisal and cleaning for a few of her important pieces. Does anyone have any locally owned/trusted businesses that you suggest? I know there is a long-standing jeweler on the square, but would love to hear from folks who might have firsthand experience.
Thank you!
Phew it’s a lot of tax raises in these polls
I’m on team, improve the community but 😮💨 I wasn’t prepared for all the “this is a tax increase” questions. Need a trigger warning on this election or something lol
Any good fall activities in McKinney that don't cost a fortune?
October is flying by, and I'm looking for ideas to enjoy the fall without spending a ton of money.
Besides the usual pumpkin patches and expensive seasonal attractions, what are some genuinely fun things to do around McKinney this time of year?
Free events, pretty places to walk, Halloween activities, local markets, or anything that's good for a relaxed weekend would be appreciated.
Bonus points if it's something adults can enjoy too, even without kids.
Early voting
Vote for candidates that believe in public school.
Do your research and vote for people that want to fund public school. If you are in a red county ask your rep and then see if they voted for school choice.
Encourage family, friends, and neighbors to vote. Good public schools equal higher home values.
