Thought and Opinion Is Astral Travelling different from Mediumship?

I had an experience in which I felt that I was able to leave my physical body and see the spirit who guides our house. The setting was exactly the same as in the physical world. It felt as though I was awake but before this I was trying to follow a light that came from my forehead.

The first thing that happened was that my wife came to me and I became awake. I wondered why the door to our room was open, so I went outside and saw an old man doing laundry in our toilet. I was shocked, so I grabbed him and brought him toward our room, asking my wife, “Who is this person?”

However, my wife did not respond despite of calling her many times. That was when I realized that I was in the spirit world. After that, I told myself to return to the physical world because it scares the hell out of me.

I would like to understand this experience better. Was it astral traveling or mediumship? I’m confused about the difference between the two.

Wanna add as well that my wife was able to do this as well by talking to her father in her dream. She is also seeing my spirit before talking to his father.

Unknown Spirit Encounter Can you "haunt" yourself?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask.

For context, when I was in my early 20s I had an experience in which I died. I came did, clearly, come back. I was curious if there is a way that a part of myself could have stayed in the next realm?

Something has been trying to get my attention recently. A lot of energy that is very attached to my emotions (i.e. when I've been extremely distressed the faucet has turned on full blast for 3 seconds and turned off). There are other examples as well. I've been hearing a detached voice calling my name for two weeks, just after the first activity began, but it has had no discernable gender. Whatever/whoever it is is strong enough that my sensitive coworker also hears the voice but we can't understand what is being said.

I thought it maybe a particular past friend, or another entity I have known. I asked for signs of confirmation and never received them, and finally asked for signs to confirm it was *not* them, those I did receive.

Over the weekend I heard a voice that was very familiar but I could quite place how it was. It was clearly female. I don't know if maybe there's a chance it's me somehow. And if not, how can I open safe channels for communication?

Guidance/Advice How do you deal with it all day long?

Hi, this is my first post on r/Mediums, and actually, my very first post on Reddit altogether. I hope you’ll be able to understand me, as English isn’t my native language.

To sum things up, I’m (fortunately) not clairvoyant, but I was wondering if any of you have tips, or perhaps some kind of intention-based rituals, to help cope with all of this.

According to Kardec (yes, I’ve done my homework haha), I would be a “sensitive medium.” Right now, simply entering a room, touching an object, or seeing or looking at someone or something can trigger a very strong, seemingly random feeling in me. Sometimes, it can even go as far as giving me uncomfortable visual “flashes,” along with an equally uncomfortable feeling.

I like knowing that I might be able to help people by knowing things they wouldn’t normally expect me to know. In fact, I think all of this might be happening to show me that I’m supposed to help others.

But honestly, I’m really struggling with it. I spend most of my time alone, I always have headphones on with music playing, and my eyes are constantly glued to a book or even my phone. Yet even then, I can’t seem to escape these experiences…

I know that drinking alcohol temporarily blocks these abilities, but it also leaves me feeling absolutely awful afterward.

Any ideas, advice, or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! ⭐🙏

Edit: I’ve already tried yoga and meditation, and honestly, they’re not even worth trying for me. Both make things 10 times worse, and yoga triggers energetic phenomena in my physical body that I really don’t like at all.

Thought and Opinion The moral right of ghosts to abide...?

I don't actually think our house is haunted. We bought it about a year ago, and despite it being about 300 years old, there's been no sign of anyone hanging around. But considering the possibility got me thinking about the ethics of sharing a home with a ghost.

People who believe they have ghosts in their homes often talk about them as "guests", frequently "unwanted guests". But if a ghost is a conscious being** that has inhabited a place for a long time, does a person's legal ownership necessarily give them a greater claim to that space?

I'm curious how this question is approached in spiritualist and mediumship circles. I know some people on this subreddit have experience advising others on their ghost situations. Rather than asking a ghost to leave or banishing them (if that's a thing), do any of you take the stance that ghosts have a right to abide?

I suppose that when we die, we should move on... But we're not really in a position to force ghosts to do anything, are we? Just help them if they want it.

I'm interested to hear how others think about this.

**For the purposes of this discussion, I'm defining a ghost as a sentient spirit with its own agency, as opposed to some kind of residual energy imprint that lacks consciousness.

Experience Tried guided meditation with spirit guide and am kinda confused?

Hey guys, I'm just starting on the divination and witchcraft. I tried to do a guided meditation to meet my spirit guide, and it started off a little iffy, because the imagery in my head was in an old building with concrete. Then the guided video says "safe space," and then it turns into my house.

The engergy I was feeling and left with are very warm, and gentle. So I'm not sure if it's a disguise or I truely connected with my spirit guide.

They were also very passive in turns of answering or delivering any messages, like all the answers are one liners at best lol.

I also did feel a hug, with more than 2 arms? They also stayed silent when I tried to ask their name, although I saw for a glimpse that they are a male with blonde curley hair. Which contridicts the hug.

I am a very anxious person and am very worried about accidentally attracting a random spirit instead of my guide. I drew a protection sigil before I started though.

So I'm not sure if this was a success or what lol

Experience Spirits entering my dreams?

Hello! New to this sub reddit but for a bit of context, I'm not a medium but a highly spiritual pagan however my beliefs don't really tie into any one belief system or deity.

My spiritual beliefs (just in case it's relevant) I worship Mother/Mother Earth/Great Mother and believe that every creature has a spirit equal to us humans. Esentially, spiritually I believe in ecocentrism, animism, "Karma based system", natural balance and Gaia theory. I also believe that there are spirits everywhere around us and whilst most are neutral or positive, there are some that are negative and on a rare occasion, truly malicious. I do practice light witchcraft (baby witch), but most of this is singing to Mother Earth in the wind and just being present in nature. On a rare occasion I do tarot readings for myself or small neutral or positive jar spells, but I only ever put out positive or neutral intentions. I feel all sorts of energies and try to interpret them the best I can but some are more confusing than others.

I've been having extremely vivid dreams as of late with periodic lucidity. I had a vivid dream today where I would "wake up" in a panic and then immediately go to find my ex (We're still very close good friends irl). When I found him, he would try to reassure me that I'm "awake now and safe" and then I would immediately "wake up" again and the dream would loop. It looped at least 8 times and as he was holding me in this dream, reassuring me again and telling me I'm safe and this is real, I came to the sudden realisation that this was a dream and I bolted awake. I woke up the same as in the nightmare loop, but thankfully managed to get ahold of my ex on the phone (he's also spiritual). He warned me that it could've been something trying to get in through my dreams so to clense myself and the room, which I've done. I have had multiple dreams fairly recently where the "Dream versions" of my friends or family have tried to convince me to stay asleep, even when the dream has felt unsafe or dangerous.

The last week or so, I've felt a looming presence. Just, like I was being watched constantly. It honestly feels negative. There's a ghost cat in my home who is very playful and I see them from time to time with my cat, Willow. But this other energy is very different, towering, it feels bad. I've avoided looking in mirrors as they've felt not quite right to me, uncanny valley is the best description, but again no conscious reason as to why. Just the energy of my home has been feeling not right. I've been extremely tired to the point of struggling to stay awake but so intensely anxious at night that I've struggled to get to sleep, but no apparent reason as to why.

I've seen many people mention the veil is thin at the moment, so I thought asking Mediums would be best idea.

I'm very open to any sort of interpretation and any tips on protecting my spirit whilst I sleep as well

Experience Experience with medium/afterlife

Hi everyone! I was raised in a religious home with a strict concept of a literal heaven and hell. My sister and I aren’t religious anymore, and we decided to see a medium to connect with our grandpa. We initially did it to see how accurate the reading was. The first reading was roughly accurate but also had really vague ideas brought up. It was enough for us to believe that she actually channeled him. She brought up details she couldn’t have possibly known but she was totally off with names and some facts. But we needed a second attempt. We decided to seek a second medium and she was incredibly accurate and very detailed 😭. We were mind blown! She even knew personal details about my sister’s life that she couldn’t possibly know, even though we initially wanted to just channel our grandpa. I guess my question is… what does the afterlife look like? We didn’t get a chance to directly ask the medium about that. I’m told there are different vibrations, a life review, and possibly reincarnation? lol I’m new to all of this and trying to learn more. I was originally terrified of death due to hell and religious indoctrination. It is absolutely freeing to no longer believe in that!

Development and Learning Good circles to join?

Hello! I’m new to this sub, I was wondering if there’s anyone who knows of any good mediumship circles to join? Or can we put together our own? I need more mediumship practice and my regular circle is starting to be less consistent as the leader of it has been getting busier with other life things.
Thanks!
