Like many others I just discovered Mindhunter this year and it’s easily one of my favorite Netflix shows, I just finished rewatching True Detective so it was a perfect transition. I didn’t like S2 as much as S1, but it still sucks that there’s no continuation of such a great story🥲

I love this show. For me, it's hands down one of the best ever created. However, I know it's going to end prematurely and yet I still watch.

Currently watching episode 2-1 and it finally hit me why it gets harder to watch each time. It's the buildup to the non-existant Season 3 BTK hunt.

Don't get me wrong, BTK is not my "this person is the most terrifying serial killer ever" person; that award goes to Rodney Alcala. But the idea of that crew trying to hunt down BTK (and all of us knowing they're going to fail) is a great season we'll never get to see.

But yet I watch, again and again.

Watch Furious. Tell me one episode of Mind Hunter isn’t absolutely superior to the whole series of Furious which is an amazing show. I rewatch Mind Hunter a lot hoping there are others like me who do the same and the Netflix algorithm will get the hint.

And it feels both like the biggest blessing and curse at the same time…. ITS SO GOOOD, BUT WHAT DO YOU MEAN COVID AND NETFLIX CANCELLING FRENZY RUIEND WHAT WOULD BE ONE OF THE BEST CRIMIAL SHOWS EVER IF IT GOT ALL ITS SEASONS… AGGHHGHAHHA IM SO SAD AND MAD I WANNA WATCH JONATHON GROFF ON MY SCREEN FOR AT LEAST THREE MORE SEASONS…. and BTK ugh ugh, no important spoilers past season 1 please I just started binging today…. Sorry for spelling mistakes I feel very heated about this cancelation

I really enjoyed Mindhunter and I’m annoyed that there’s so much unexplained now like who or what was taking from the tuna can? What was going to happen with Tench’s kid who showed songs of being a young psychopath? They merely hinted at the BTK killer and didn’t even really look into it - all because someone at Netflix said “nah ep9 series 2, it’s run its course”.

Meanwhile Eastenders is on its 41st “season” and I don’t know a single person who even knows a single person who knows someone’s cousin that watches it.

Recent fanart I did! V happy w how it turned out! It’s the mildest bit wonky but we ball :3

Just finished the first one, want to watch the second one.

2. edit: solid show, it seems there will be a second season based on the ending. Absolutely an infuriating story, need a strong heart.

edit: dear all, now I watched the second episode, I would suggest not to watch it. The story is way too terrifying and made me so sad and angry. I feel my blood pressure is high now.

For what I know, this is the first series signed by D.Fincher.

The quality of the episodes in terms of photography, screenplay and recitation is enormous but I'm not surprised at all.

I just wanted to share with the community my love for his job...I mean, y can see Fight Club, Seven and Zodiac in many sequences...y can feel the love in doing this series.

Hope the second one would meet my expectations.

Who else is obsessed with Bill?
fans self

My husband sounds just like him. 😮‍💨

This trailer of the exorcist looks insane but I can’t help but think mindhunter. Probably all the serial killers mentioned but the vibes are similar if not more pronounced in the trailer. Smh. I just want the show back. Sorry if this is a sht post.

i have watched black bird, true detective (s1), the killing— literally every single recommendation but i still couldn’t find anything that hits the same😭. i just love mindhunter, i want the same vibe 😭🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻.

Im a forsenic psychology student btw😭😭 so i have another level of attachment to this show.

Helped with the Mimdhunter itch a bit.

I've seen this happen before with some good tv series that they continue through a different medium like novels? Season 3 will unfortunately never happen but wonder will they try and licence it a different way?? If it was well written I'd love to continue the series in novels

On related note- any book recommendations (fiction preferably) that you think is mindhunteresque ?

Thanks

Hi guys! I found out about Mindhunter and binge watched it in 2 days, it was sooo good, I couldn't stop!! And i join ya'll in grieving whyyyy and howww they could cancel this show😭 i need more of this😭😭 I loved Holden and Bill, the questioning, solving the murders and the just the cinematic views and settings are so perfect!! The montage of them working for weeks on roadschool was beautiful! BTK killer scenes were so creepy, I wish we had more in season 3, or solving Ada Jefferies murder.

I watched Twin Peaks before and loved Special Agent dale cooper and officer Harry working together. Holden and Bill are similar. In the beginning of twin peaks it looked like there was gonna be a serial killer angle too with cooper finding alphabets under the victims nails. I love shows with FBI investigation, they're so cool and interesting and i can't help having a tiny lil crush on them😅! I need more of this. Any recommendations for something similar?

Honestly asking myself why didn’t I watch it sooner?? Being a Psychology graduate and currently a post grad student of criminology, it was a very highly informative show in general.

It satiated the feeling of watching true crime + course work since I have a paper on Criminal Profiling this semester!

Devastated by the fact that there isn’t gonna be a 3rd season💔😭

I liked the first season more than the second one though but still enjoyed watching it all!

I watched it a year ago, and was gripped by it completely. I even read the book afterwards. And I watched it again now and I loved the hell out of it. I love David Fincher and his work. People enjoy Seven, Zodiac etc but to me personally Mindhunter is my favourite work of his. Everything about this show is just ughhh from acting, cinematography and the fricking music. I can write essays over it but I will just pick few scenes to tell how great of a show this is:

When Holden was in Atlanta Georgia in the second season to interview convicted felons. We were shown glimpses of what is about to be a very horrific and bone chilling case. After being done with the interviews, Jim and Holden were in their car going back to their hotel, when Holden sees children crossing the street with hands locked with each other forming a human chain and with no traffic lights or street lights, its mostly dark and Holden asks "Is this an Atlanta thing" to which Jim replies "the city doesn't provide the same level of care to all neighbourhoods." Up to that point there was no foreboding music just them talking but when that scene comes, the creepy score starts playing hinting at what's about to come.

The second most chilling scene for me was again in the second season when they kept finding bodies one after the other in complete darkness with no proper forensics team. It's so freaking creepy.

Also when they were staking out all river bridges with that creepy foreboding music. It's as if you are in the heart of darkness, grasping at straws to find the killer and put an end to this madness and desperation.

What I really like about Mindhunter (and most of David Fincher's work) is that there is almost no music or score in most of the scenes, it's just people talking and the background world is your music. For instance when you are in an office building, it's the typewriters when you are out looking for bodies It's the search party dogs barking.

The acting by everyone involved feels so authentic and well done.

These are just a few of the many things I love about this show. There is no explicit depiction of gore or gratuitous violence or sexual scenes. There is just people talking and I am still somehow creeped up. This show is almost an ode to story telling.

And lastly when I finished watching this the second time I was so heartbroken that I wont get to see more of this. As I read somewhere true crime shows cannot get better than this. I had to come here and nerd out with you guys.

Thanks for reading :)

why advertise something unfinished because they cancelled it?

Like HBO? I’m guessing it’s strictly a Netflix property (at least the name is) but if you renamed the show would that technically work? I’m grasping at straws here but I need some hope dammit
