Discussion Why don’t we consider developing Moroccan Darija into a standardized language?
Darija is the language most of us speak in our daily lives, yet our education system relies heavily on Modern Standard Arabic and French, neither of which is our native language.
Languages evolve, borrow from one another, and develop over time. Maltese, for example, evolved from Arabic varieties and was later influenced by Italian and other languages, eventually becoming an official language with its own standardized writing system.
So why couldn’t Moroccan Darija follow a similar path? We could develop its grammar, establish a standardized writing system, and gradually introduce it into education and official institutions.
I’m curious to hear your opinions. Do you think this is a realistic idea, or would it create more problems than it solves? Why?

Music Moroccan rap is just commercial slop
Honestly, Moroccan rap is getting boring as hell. I feel like everyone is trying to follow the same formula nowadays, same trap beats, same flexing, same lifestyle, same everything. It's like everyone wants to go viral and make money, but nobody wants to take risks or bring something different to the scene. And the crazy part is that Morocco has so much potential musically, yet anything outside the mainstream barely gets the attention it deserves. Look at Tunisia, for example. I'm not saying Tunisian rap is perfect or that it doesn't have commercial garbage too, but at least there's a different side to explore, different sounds and artists with their own identities. I just wish Moroccan rap had more diversity, more underground artists getting recognition, more experimentation, more personality. Not everyone needs to sound the same just because it works. We have enough rappers trying to be the next big thing; I'd rather hear someone making something original, even if it's rough around the edges, than another song that sounds exactly like the last ten.

Travel Indrive in Agadir
Sharing my experience using inDrive in Agadir for the last few days. A TikTok user recommended the app for travel, so I thought nothing of downloading it, just like I did with Bolt when visiting Portugal. Anyway, the first couple of rides were really great, they were decent cars, very polite drivers, and very reasonable prices compared to the orange taxis. Then, for some reason, the inDrives took a hasty downward spiral. We had one young lady whose car was barely functional and kept stalling as she was driving, nearly causing an accident! She then left us on the other side of the freeway to Crocopark, which you cannot cross on foot. Thankfully, she came back and drove us to the proper entrance. Several showed up in cars that did not have the correct registration plates, so we declined, and they were quite aggressive. Another very young male driver, with a car that barely moved, asked us for triple the fare when we got in his car! He told us to get out when we said no. Also, a few turned up with other people in them. Then, a standard taxi driver told us that it is not legal to use inDrive. We had no idea; it is a legitimate app, and you upload your face for verification, so we just thought it was like Bolt or Uber. We also had an orange cab driver rip us off; he gave us a price for Inezgane market (about 20 minutes away) then dropped us at Souk El Had, which was only 5 minutes away, even though we expressly told him we were going to visit that souk later after Inezgane. So, basically, you cannot trust other taxis either! Anyway, the holiday was pretty good apart from that bit, just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences. I think if we ever go again, we will hire a car.

AskMorocco Is there any lawyers who give advice to foreign men marrying in Morocco?
So I am marrying in Morocco in 3 months and I have a clean record but like 3 years ago I got arrested for a CCW charge because I live in Indiana by the border of Michigan and my gun was legal in Indiana because they have a open carry gun law but Michigan they are more strict with guns so I was a mile from the border in Michigan and got a CCW charge but it got dismissed so it was a felony charge but I got a lawyer who got me a HYTA program for first time offenders and I was able to COMPLETELY dismiss it and it’s gone. I have no record, I had to plead guilty for the program but I still never got a conviction, so I can still get married in Morocco as an American from what all my research tells me. What I’m worried about is if the judge in Morocco who is supposed to approve us to get married see the arrest for felony and raise suspicion, even if I never got convicted. I will bring my HYTA papers to show how it got dismissed and I’ll have them make a copy translated to Darija for them to see. Does anyone know if the arrest will hurt me? It’s dismissed and no conviction but it will show arrested. I have no criminal record and even this was a horrible situation because it was a legal gun in Indiana and I was only a mile from Michigan and wasn’t thinking.

Travel Sunrise over the Palmeraie: Hot air ballooning in Marrakech [OC]
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
There’s something surreal about watching the giant burners light up against the dark pre-dawn sky before lifting off right as the sun breaks over the horizon.
Floating above the Marrakech Palmeraie gives you a completely different perspective of the landscape—away from the hustle of the Medina, looking down at the endless palm groves, distant Berber villages, and (on a clear day) the silhouettes of the High Atlas mountains.
For anyone planning to add this to their itinerary, here are a few quick tips I wish I knew beforehand:
Timing is everything: Flights almost always happen at sunrise because the wind conditions are calmest. Be prepared for an very early morning hotel pickup (usually around 5:00 AM or earlier, depending on the season).
Dress in layers: It gets surprisingly chilly standing in the desert field before takeoff and high up in the air while moving with the wind, but it warms up quickly once the sun is fully up.
Book with local operators: There are several reputable companies running out of Marrakech. Always check recent reviews and ensure they follow international safety standards.
Has anyone else here tried it, or do you have a favorite spot in Morocco for sunrise views? Let’s hear your thoughts!

Travel Worth visiting Fes on a Friday?
hello everyone! i have the option of visiting fes for 1.5 days, but with friday being the main day, ive heard there's not much to see in the medina.
my flight would arrive on thursday at 1:30pm from marrakesh, then depart friday 7pm.
im especially interested in artisan crafts, so though i could visit the relevant areas of the medina on thursday within 3-4hrs, then see landmarks on friday (eg. tannery, royal palace, bou inania madrasa etc.) but might be too rushed. what do you think?
side note, does anyone have a recommended store for buying a fes (the hat)? thank you for any advice!
