Discussion Heat wave
Getting 0 to 4 hours of electricity daily for the past 10 days, in the middle of this heat wave that's roasting me like a rotisserie chicken, has made me really appreciate how much this Tinubu's government has favoured me and my family🙌🏽🙌🏽💅🏽

Politics Everywhere you go, you cant escape them.
$1,500 to $2,500 per month(1,434830 to 2,391383 naira per month). Thats how much it takes to rent a billboard on this side of Canada. Keeping in mind that this is just one side of the city, imagine how much is being used country wise, and then Canada isnt the only country where Nigerians live, so imagine how much is being pumped into these campaigns.
In the meantime, there are people back home being kidnapped, killed, starved, people without homes and jobs, food and drug quality degrading by the day, terrorist threats still amongst us, and a super El Nino on the way. I have seen this billboard before in my city, but this post reminded me of the rage i felt that day.

Discussion I am really confused
Hello guys, I’m 22 and just entered the job market and it's just somehow. Completed my MSc two weeks ago and haven’t found a suitable entry-level role yet. What’s really going on? 😂
Why do entry-level jobs require 3–5 years of experience? You see “fresh graduates are encouraged to apply,” only to find out they want professional certifications, proficiency in 15 different software applications and the experience of a senior manager.
Where am I supposed to get experience from abeg?
Anyways, if you have or happen to know someone with an opportunity for me, I’d really appreciate a referral. I have a BSc in Business Administration, an MSc in Economics, and I’m looking for opportunities in operations, supply chain, procurement or administration.
Also, for those who have been through this, how did you land your first decent job? Because this job market is just crazy.

My friend sent a large amount of money to the wrong account number. He's already gone to their office, and they are telling him there is nothing they can do. What else can be done?

Ask Naija Instead of studying the American & British Revolution; would Nigerians studying the Ayitian Revolution, spark their African revolutionary spirit, while ceasing their admiration to japa to their historical slaver states of Britain & America?

General Whatever happens, I’m glad I didn’t waste 2026 just wishing for a better life in Nigeria.
Honestly, I’m proud of myself this year.
One of my biggest goals is to leave Nigeria and start a new chapter somewhere else, and I’ve been taking that goal seriously. I’ve been researching opportunities, looking into possible pathways, comparing options, and trying to figure out how to make the whole thing work for me.
It’s not like I suddenly have everything figured out. I don’t but I can say that I’ve put real time and effort into finding a way forward, and that makes me happy.
Sometimes you can want something for so long that it starts to feel like a distant dream. You talk about it, imagine what your life could look like and keep hoping something will change. I didn’t want another year to go by like that.
So this year, I’ve tried to be more intentional about what I want and what I’m doing to get there.
I’m giving myself credit because I know these things aren’t always easy. It takes effort to keep researching, planning, and looking for possibilities when there’s no guarantee that everything will work out exactly as you hope.
But I’m glad I started, I’m glad I gave this goal my time instead of constantly pushing it to the back of my mind, I still have things to accomplish, but I’m ending this year knowing I genuinely tried to move my life in the direction I want.

Culture Weird observation I’ve made after watching many contemporary Nigerian films
I’ve never seen a woman smoke? Even the “wayward” female characters who engage in other activities thought to be vices aren’t depicted smoking on screen. Their male equivalents do. Vaping and smoking alike. This may have zero significance, but after many films it sticks out.

General Should I ask my older cousin abroad for a phone after he gifted my brother a laptop?
I’m in a bit of a personal situation and could use outside perspective.
I have an older cousin who lives abroad. We do chat every now and then. You know, how is school? How are your siblings? He has sent money through me to my family before for Eid. I have never asked him for anything before. He’s recently helping my brother with a laptop—it was a gift, and my dad was the one who asked him about it. I’m currently stuck phone-wise( I have been using the same 7 plus for 5 years) and can’t afford to buy one myself or cover shipping.
I’m wondering whether it’s okay to ask this same cousin if he’d be open to helping me with a phone too. I’m hesitant for a few reasons:
· He just helped my brother, and I don’t want to make it look like my family is piling requests on him. · My parents would probably be against it; they’d likely feel it’s too much of a burden to ask. · I’m tempted to ask him directly first because he’s fond of us and might be more likely to agree. But I also worry that’s exactly why I shouldn’t because he might say yes before really thinking about it. · If he says no, that’s fine and I’d drop it, but I don’t want to make things awkward or put him in a difficult position.
I’m torn between asking my parents/dad first for a read on whether it’s fair to ask, versus just asking my cousin casually and making it very easy for him to say no.
What would you do? Is it reasonable to ask him, or should I leave it because he already did a lot for my brother? And if I do ask, should I talk to my parents first or go to him directly?

Discussion To catch a predator Nigeria
Im thinking of making a YouTube series called to catch a predator Nigeria, like jidion and Chris Hassen. I am nigerian american, but my friend told me about how she was touched by a man in Nigeria mind you she was his housegirl. I feel young african girls need a voice too and because of how lawless the country is. Im thinking of making a YouTube series in Nigeria to other west african countries, because I HATE PEDOS, and people that take advantage of the weak. This 40 year old man tried to get at me mind you he's old enough to be my father, and he know my mother. What in the pedophilia????. yeah I can only imagine the stuff they get away with in Nigeria. But what do you guys think?

Ask Naija Why Nigeria does not have good power supply?
In March 2026, Nigeria's electricity distribution companies (DisCos) collected ₦196.13 billion in revenue and received ₦293.76 billion worth of electricity to distribute,
Nigeria’s 11 electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) in April 2026:
• Revenue Collected: ₦203.61 billion from customers.
• Electricity Received: ₦302.96 billion worth of energy from the market
In May 2026, Nigerian electricity distribution companies (DisCos) collected ₦208.15 billion in revenue and received electricity valued at ₦328.95 billion to distribute
In June 2026, Nigerian electricity distribution companies (DisCos) collected ₦191.86 billion in revenue and received electricity valued at ₦315.73 billion from the power market
In July 2026, Nigeria's 11 electricity distribution companies (DisCos) collected ₦205.53 billion in revenue and received ₦333.94 billion worth of electricity to distribute,
Note also that
1.Collection efficency of bills is 80%
15% of the country is paying band A charges, which are cost reflective, the rest pays below N100 (EXCEPT in places like aba and jos).
And yet, when someone calls for a cost reflective tarrif, they are apparently lying. Well, see the effect of the lack of a cost reflective tarrif that most of you here support because you think your government is doing the right thing.
All figures are publicly available. I did not make them up.
Until every nigerian pays a cost reflective tarrif, the investment needed to fix the power sector would never be forthcoming, and we would remain in darkness
(And saying that does not mean I excuse corruption nor does it mean I don't support metering everyone..infact the lack of a cost reflective tarrif causes those problems. And the losses is why you buy wires and poles
Also, ladies and gentlemen, remember that discos don't just have to pay gencos...they need to pay salaries, wages, charges from TCN and also taxes and decent staff salaries. Cant' do that when government is forcing them to operate at a loss.
I expect downvotes, and abuse....but it is stll the truth. And yes, I am not a tinubu supporter.
The energy charge component of the power tariff must be able to cover the cost of maintaining the assets. If operators can’t recover expenses for operations and maintenance, which are often dollar-denominated, there will be recurring system failures
Prof Barth Nnaji, former power minister.

Discussion Is it possible to donate or get involved with a candidates campaign
As we’re all seeing the election cycle is swinging into action. Some parties are campaigning very hard form what it seems. I personally am in the diaspora so while I may not be able to vote I was wondering if there’s a way to donate or be involved in any groups that are fundraising for any candidates.
Politicians especially in western countries have their election campaigns largely fundraisers and I feel like the Nigerian diaspora might be one of the largest and most well resourced groups.

Ask Naija How can I legally raise 350k Naira in 7 days ?
I’m 24(F) about to leave for my NYSC camp in about a weeks time. I’m financially spent and I have no money to purchase my camp essentials and cover transportation and other living expenses while I’m at Camp.
I spent my very last money sorting out my posting to Lagos state because I was told it’s the best state to live for one considering a career in Corporate/ Commercial law.
I have exactly 7 days to raise money from wherever in order to afford to go to camp this year else I’ll wait another 6 more months.
Is there anything I can legally do in 7 days to raise 350k naira ? I’m really spent and I’ve exhausted every other alternative I can think of. I would appreciate any help from anyone.
