The Desert Fathers and Mothers, far from denying our social responsibility, saw the need to form proper communities to help each other in their spiritual journey; they reminded each other of the good which they need to do, and the evils which they must avoid, explaining how various passions, like anger, get in the way of our proper spiritual development.
