New Flair: Iranian Voices ONLY (Please Read Before Posting)
July 2026 Edit
The moderation team has changed this to a mod-only flair. We will quickly apply the "Only Iranians May Comment" flair whenever it is clear that the OP is specifically looking to hear from Iranians on the subject.
We are testing this out to see how it goes. We will update this post if anything else changes regarding the flair.
Today we added a new post flair: Iranian Voices ONLY
These threads are meant to center on the perspectives of Iranians, especially during times like these where outside noise can overwhelm the conversation.
What this means
Only Iranians may comment in these threads and violations may result in a ban.
Why we're doing this
r/Persian has always been open to everyone, and that will not change. But in these times, it's important to create space for Iranians to speak directly without being drowned out by outside voices.
This flair allows that space to exist when the OP chooses it. Non-Iranians may also choose this flair to ask questions directly to the Iranian community.
Where this applies
This rule applies only to posts using the Iranian Voices ONLY flair. All other threads remain open to everyone under our usual rules.
Final note
If you are not Iranian, please respect the purpose of these threads. There are many other places in the subreddit to participate.

# The Birthday of His Imperial Majesty Aryamehr: A Name Forever Etched in Iran’s Historical Memory
**Radio Abaan Report | The Birthday of His Imperial Majesty Aryamehr**
The fourth of Aban marks the birthday of His Imperial Majesty Aryamehr, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, a monarch whose name is intertwined with the triumphs and trials of Iran’s modern history, the aspiration for progress, and the dream of a prosperous, free, and dignified Iran. For millions of Iranians, he remains a symbol of an era when Iran was advancing along the path of modernization, development, and a more prominent presence on the world stage.
His Imperial Majesty Aryamehr, the worthy son of Reza Shah the Great, inherited a land with a civilization spanning thousands of years. During his reign, Iran witnessed sweeping transformations in education, industry, infrastructure, social rights, and the position of women in society. From the expansion of universities and industrial development to social reforms and the strengthening of Iran’s international standing, these achievements form part of a legacy that remains a subject of historical debate, research, and evaluation.
Yet beyond the statistics, development projects, and political transformations, what keeps the name of His Imperial Majesty Aryamehr alive in the hearts of many admirers of the Pahlavi dynasty—the dynasty that helped build modern Iran—is their emotional connection to an image of Iran that could have been built upon national identity, historical pride, and progress: an Iran aspiring to claim its rightful place among the nations of the world.
History tells the story of both bright and dark days, and no period of rule can be considered beyond historical scrutiny and criticism. Nevertheless, the passage of time has not erased the memory and name of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi from the hearts and minds of a segment of the Iranian nation. For supporters of the monarchy, his name remains intertwined with patriotism, national grandeur, and the aspiration to see Iran reclaim its historic standing.
Today, on the birthday of that exiled Shah, his memory is more than a reminder of a date on the calendar. It is an opportunity to reflect on Iran’s destiny, the price paid for the loss of stability and development, and the hopes of a generation that longs to see the land of its ancestors once again free, prosperous, and proud.
From the grandeur of Persepolis to the streets of Tehran, from the memories of the monarchy’s years to the vision of Iran’s tomorrow, one aspiration endures: the dignity of the homeland, the preservation of Iranian identity, and the creation of a future in which freedom and prosperity stand alongside the ancient roots of this enduring land.
May your birthday be blessed and auspicious, His Imperial Majesty Aryamehr.
May Iran, this eternal land, once again experience an era of freedom, prosperity, and national pride.
**Long Live Iran. Long Live the Shah.**

Discussion If you know about hemmati , what do you think of his performance, (رئیس بانک مرکزی) and central bank of iran (cbi) in general .
This maybe quite strange but this mainly has to do with me hearing from tehran university students that hemmati specifically hates injecting dolar into the economy to stablize the price , which is quite strange when you think that the central bank had started to inject dolar around a month ago to prevent it from reaching 250 thousand toman mark .
(Many of you may have known specifically dolar going from 248 to 226 in two days and it was specifically because of this) , what i found strange was them just giving up on this and dolar suddenly becoming 274 in two days , and seemingly they started to panic and restart injecting dolar to stablize the price around 267 , and it probably didn't do much .
I find this performance quite strange and the decision making aspects bipolar ,
I wonder if you know more about central bank of iran and its decision making . Like recently I've been looking at the amar and they straight up have sections missing and blank from the gdp and there is seemingly no accountability or explanation, i do know the gdp is contracting but it doesn't make sense to put it as blank .
This is quite a strange post and a rant and i hope to find more people who have more exprinces than me or know more .
Also hemmati seems to have a very bad reputation in tehran university among economics students .

Discussion What is it with Persian men and lying?
Before I go any further let me say that I am a Persian woman and this isn't meant as a "man-hating" post like you see all over Reddit. But, I just sincerely really want to know why so many Persian men are compulsive liars. Please don't respond by gaslighting or saying you don't know what I'm talking about. You know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. My brothers do it, my uncles do it, my Persian boyfriends did it... MOST OF THEM DO IT. When you catch them in the lie they lie their ass out of it!! If they're not straight up lying then they're omitting information, telling white lies, or stretching the truth. Have we made it acceptable in our culture to LIE?
I'm also not letting us women off the hook. Some of us are toxic and two-faced as hell. I think we have some deep cultural issues we need to solve in addition to getting rid of the IRGC.

Discussion How dogmatic thinking paralyzes discourse within the Iranian community
Our community has a problem with dogmatic thinking.
We cling to a specific worldview so tightly that the idea itself becomes a tyranny looming over our heads, preventing us from being open to seeing differing perspectives.
It is natural, and often beneficial, for people to commit themselves to certain principles or values in life. Elevating a principle or value to an epistemic status that shields it from skepticism or doubt transforms that principle into a dogma.
For example, you might consider yourself a nationalist, leftist, socialist, republican, anarchist, monarchist etc. You therefore uphold principles that align with whatever ideology you subscribe to. However, if you follow those principles as if they are absolute truths, your perspective of the world will be shaped solely by your dogma. Your worldview suddenly becomes irrefutable and beyond critical evaluation. This is a form of self-entrapment. It paralyzes your ability for critical thinking and it prevents you from having the ability to engage in rational and productive discourse with someone who may hold opposing beliefs. You might begin to judge every person based on where their beliefs fall in relation to your own dogma, rather than evaluating ideas logically or rationally.
I see this happening constantly in our community. It crushes opportunity for open dialogue, further dividing opposition to the regime.
Of course, this issue is not unique to Iranians. People in general have a proclivity for becoming dogmatic. But if we recognize it when it's happening we can actively attempt to pull ourselves back from the entrapment of our own convictions.
Just some food for thought.

History Empress Farah Pahlavi
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
**Empress Farah Pahlavi: A Symbol of Grace, Loyalty, and Service to Iran and the Iranian People**
Radio Abaan Report | Empress Farah Pahlavi
Empress Farah Pahlavi, the last Empress of Iran, holds a place in the country’s modern history that extends far beyond her royal title. During the reign of His Imperial Majesty Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, Shahanshah Aryamehr, she played a prominent role in supporting social institutions and advancing Iranian culture and the arts through extensive initiatives in cultural affairs, education, healthcare, and charitable work.
Grace, dignity, and a deep commitment to family and social responsibilities are among the qualities admired by many supporters of the Pahlavi dynasty in Empress Farah Pahlavi. During her years at the Imperial Court, she paid particular attention to the welfare of children, Iranian women, those in need, and the sick. She supported the development of educational facilities, children’s libraries, healthcare institutions, and cultural organisations. Her support for contemporary Iranian art, the preservation of the country’s historical heritage, and efforts to introduce Iranian culture to the world were also among her many contributions.
With the coronation ceremony held on 26 October 1967 (4 Aban 1346 in the Iranian calendar), Empress Farah Pahlavi became the first empress of Iran’s modern era to be crowned. This historic distinction, alongside her social and cultural responsibilities, further strengthened her place in the history of the Pahlavi monarchy.
Yet one of the most poignant aspects of the Empress’s life is her enduring devotion to the memory of His Imperial Majesty Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, Shahanshah Aryamehr. Following the Shahanshah’s passing in Cairo on 27 July 1980 (5 Mordad 1359), Empress Farah Pahlavi never remarried. Throughout her long years in exile, despite the hardships of living far from her homeland and the profound grief of losing her husband and two of her children, she continued her cultural and social activities while preserving her emotional and historical bond with Iran.
In interviews, the Empress has also spoken of how her husband’s memory remains alive in her heart and mind—a bond that, even after decades, continues to form an essential part of her life story. For many Iranians, her personal decision never to remarry and her enduring devotion to the Shahanshah’s memory represent a lasting expression of love and a profound commitment to the life they shared, which began with their marriage on 21 December 1959 (30 Azar 1338).
The life of Empress Farah Pahlavi, from her years at the Imperial Court of Iran to her decades in exile, is a story of responsibility, loss, perseverance, and devotion to her homeland. Beyond her historic role as Empress of Iran, she remains a recognised figure in Iranian culture and the arts on the international stage—a noblewoman whose name is inseparably linked to a significant chapter in Iran’s modern history and the enduring legacy of the nation-building Pahlavi dynasty.

Hey all, depending on interest from the sub, I’m thinking of starting a new series of posts highlighting artists in Iran. I will include any social media handles & links where you can purchase art or simply follow the artist to show support.
This first one highlights one of my personal favourite Iranian artists, Negar Sepehr. Negar is a mixed media artist who blends various styles from traditional Persian miniatures/portraiture and historical textile designs with modern aesthetics. (This description is my own, not the artist’s.)
