This uses Ontario’s inspection categories: 🔴 means at least one critical food safety issue, 🟡 means non-critical issues only, and 🟢 means no infractions. Non-critical issues, like maintenance or paperwork, still need fixing but don’t by themselves mean food is unsafe. This report covers Peterborough restaurants, cafés and food retailers, excluding retirement homes, shelters, treatment centres, child care facilities, schools, campuses, hotels, seniors’ and community centres, and event halls. Results reflect the inspection date; check the disclosure portal for current status.

Peterborough Currents Election Special zines
We’ll start with Currents’ own contribution to the election conversation, the Peterborough Currents Election Special zines. Instead of delving into the candidates and their positions (see below for lots of ways to find out about that), we decided to focus on an exploration of the most important issues of the day.
These five one-page zines focus on five topics that are shaping the conversation this election season: homelessness, addictions, downtown vitality, democracy & council culture, and climate change. What’s the situation on the ground? What have we been doing over the past four years? What are the challenges and opportunities that face the next council?
These zines are intended as tools to help voters make sense of the conversations and platforms that have taken shape throughout this election season.
Print copies of all five zines are available as a bundle in an envelope for FREE from Sadleir House, The Food Shop, Dreams of Beans, and Take Cover Books, or you can download digital copies of the zines from our website.
Election Day for the City of Peterborough Municipal and School Board Election is Monday, October 26, 2026. In-person voting is available from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
In-person voting locations are based the Ward you reside in:

Ward 3 – Town: McDonnel Street Community Centre, 577 McDonnel St.
Ward 4 – Ashburnham: Peterborough Lions Community Centre, 347 Burnham St.
Ward 5 – Northcrest: Northview Community Church, 1000 Fairbairn St.
Those who need additional support or accessible voting equipment to place their vote can do so at City Hall, 500 George St. N., through Friday, October 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or on Election Day, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The City Hall location is available to eligible voters from all wards.
Free transit is available to and from in-person voting locations with a valid voter notification card.
If you prefer to stay home, online voting is available now until polls close on election day.
For more information about how to vote, visit the Peterborough Votes website.
The Peterborough Votes website includes a full list of the candidates running for mayor, councillor, and school board trustee, with links to their websites and social media pages, where you can hear more from them.
KawarthaNOW’s Vote Tracker is a useful tool for exploring the candidates’ priorities and how they line up with your own.
There have been a number of all-candidates meetings during this election cycle. Only two of them are still available to watch – the yourVote City of Peterborough Mayoral Debate broadcast by Cogeco and the climate change debate hosted by For Our Grandchildren (4RG). You can also listen to the audio of the ArtsVote Peterborough meeting about arts and culture issues.
There is also a written report based on the social issues debate, which was hosted by a group of local organizations, led by United Way Peterborough.
Several local organizations have also sent out surveys to the mayoral and council candidates about the issues. Read the responses to the DBIA’s survey about downtown, Heads Up for Inclusion’s survey about inclusion and disability issues, Reimagine Peterborough’s survey about environment, planning, and Indigenous relations, and For Our Grandchildren’s survey about climate change.
The Peterborough Examiner has interviews with pretty much all the candidates for mayor and council.
KawarthaNOW has been interviewing and profiling candidates, not only in Peterborough but also across the county. You can find links to all their coverage here. We particularly recommend their breakdown of the school board trustee race, which is too often overlooked during election season.
Trent Arthur presents a collection of longform audio interviews with each of the mayoral candidates in their Arthur Votes 2026 series, and we also recommend their ongoing coverage of the election and municipal politics.
Trent Radio has posted a series of audio interviews with most of the ward candidates.
Global News produced a series of videos profiling the municipal election race across each of Peterborough’s five wards: Otonabee, Monaghan, Town, Ashburnham, and Northcrest.
Thanks for reading -- and for getting out to vote!

Hey all. So today I bit the bullet/finally didn’t have a gnarly flu/family crisis/etc. after months of planning to address with my NP that I’m… well, whether a binary or non-binary trans man is sort of academic, when it changes functionally nothing about the medical approach or how I prefer to be referred to. I’m 36, bounced this around multiple times as far back as 5-6 years old(yeah, that got beat out of me, and it’s part of why this took so long to crystallize).
NP was great, told me that at my age all she saw as necessary for the gender dysphoria diagnosis that has to precede HRT was that I’d expressed that I had it. She did have to refer me to another NP who apparently specialises, though I’ve been warned she may only work with adolescents. My current GP NP works with a FHT physician at The Medical Centre. I didn’t really ask about the process that might ensue or the timeline on this referral, although she seemed possibly open to the idea of consulting with the NP I was referred to to get me started if I wasn’t within that person’s scope.
Has anybody else done this in proper adulthood with an FHT practitioner based out of The Medical Centre? If so, who am I likely to see, and what did your timeline look like? I’m both a ruminator and a planner, so I’ve been sitting on this while certain of it for about a year and a half now, talking it out with close trusted people. Figuring out how to handle the more delicate comings out I was going to have. This has had the effect that if I wind up on a waitlist of meaningful length I will likely go covered telehealth or private, because I’m realizing now I ought to have raised this as soon as I was sure, not necessarily when I’d figured out everything.
So yeah… Timeline? Anyone know who gender RN is? Anything helpful I ought to know in terms of clinics/services for trans people in the city? I had a therapist about a decade ago who very strongly expressed the opinion I ought to do Gender Journeys when it was a thing, but nope, I didn’t need that (🙄), and now our lovely provincial government has defunded it. My husband’s doctor is Lokanathan and he’s of the opinion he ought to start lobbying her to take me, but I’m happy with my relationship with my current NP, am living so close to The Medical Centre you could wave at me from the certain windows of the building, and am not sure I want to lose access to the resources that come with being rostered with my current provider.

We are log home owners looking for a reputable and professional company to address a mouse infestation in our small attic. The particular services we are interested in include locating and sealing entry points with rodent proof materials, and removing and replacing batt insulation.
Any recommendations from the Peterborough/Kawartha Lakes area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Redpath, public funding and the million-dollar Douro farm — where is the accountability?
Peterborough is facing a housing crisis, homelessness and a toxic drug supply crisis. Yet Redpath/Right to Heal has pursued public funding while questions remain about its rural farm property in Douro-Dummer, reportedly purchased for just over $1 million.
In February 2026, City Council approved a $150,000 grant for planning an affordable housing project at 271 Brock Street. That grant was designated for Brock Street, not the farm.
Meanwhile, questions deserve answers about the farm’s intended use, its connection to Redpath, and reports of moon circles and activities associated with Liz Shaunessy’s Witchy Ways business.
How do these activities relate to Redpath’s recovery work? What public funding has been requested for each project? What services will actually be delivered, and what accountability exists?
These are legitimate public-interest questions, not personal drama. People experiencing homelessness and addiction deserve transparency about organizations seeking public support.
Peterborough residents and local media should keep asking questions and examining the records.

What are the best spots for tick r treating? When I was a kid the streets were full and we were getting pillowcases full of candy but now I find we are lucky to find even a strip of houses near each other to hit up.

Non-hockey family so looking for advice for my 5 year old. Took him to CDN tire and neither the bauer or CCM adjustable youth helmets fit him properly (big head). Where should I be going for help with someone that can fit him and has more than just 2 options?
