Ang palaging gumigising sa akin ay usually mga Maya or Crows, ngayon napalitan na nitong ibon na 'to. I googled it and they're called Philippine Pied Fantail.

What do I mean when I said 'terrorizing' me?

First, they start tweeting their scratchy music at 7:00 am and goes on for literal hours, keeps knocking on my window and shits constantly on my bed if ever open the window.

I think they're a pair and I also think they've got a nest somewhere in the roof of our house again because they're agressive to our cats.

But of course, I'm not really mad. Annoyed maybe but I like seeing endemic birds, we live in an urban area so it's really hard for me to see other bird species aside from the Eurasian Tree Sparrow. Lately dumadami na rin yung pair ng crows na bumibisita sa akin (I'd like to think they're our native species too) and now ito naman.

Baka sa loob ng mga susunod na taon ay wala na ang mga puno at kalbo na ang buong kabundukan ng Sierra Madre.

Went to the zoo with my boyfriend's family. Felt sad seeing some of the animals, like this lion here. Umuwi kami with a heavy heart; sobrang concerning conditions nila, just wishing they can be free nalang.

It's not just him/her, but other animals were clearly struggling with our hot weather. Some of their areas have no water nearby or madumi ang tubig. So sad that most of them aren't really taken care of nicely; judging from afar.

Our country DOES NOT deserve zoos lalo na ganito ang pag-aalaga nila! I hope this reaches to the right authorities/agencies!

I was always fascinated by this side of the northbound station because the trees made the whole area feel calmer and more alive despite the busy surroundings.

Then June 2023, most of the trees were cut down, and the place started to look much more gloomy and depressing to me. I will never understand any reasons. But I still miss how the station used to look with all the greenery.

Nang kanya itong usisain, nakita niyang dinudumog ng mga unggoy ang isang malaking ibon. Sa pag-aakalang mailap na manok ito, ginaya ni Linoy ang tahol ng aso upang takutin at mapaalis.

Paglapit sa lugar, tumambad sa kanya ang isang Philippine Eagle na nakahandusay sa lupa, nababalutan ng putik, at nanginginig. Agad niya itong tinakpan ng dahon ng Anunutong fern at binalot sa kanyang jacket upang mapakalma habang naghihintay ng saklolo.

Sa tulong ng ITMPC, agad naipagbigay-alam ang insidente sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), na siyang kumuha sa agila para sa agarang medikal na pagsusuri at rehabilitasyon.

Kabilang din sa mga tumulong sa pagliligtas sina Junissa Valdueza Docenos at Sanny Docenos.

Sa kabila ng maputik, madulas, at matarik na kabundukan, hindi sumuko ang grupo. Maingat nilang binuhat ang pambansang ibon habang tinatakpan ang mga mata at katawan nito upang mabawasan ang stress.

Kahit pa nga nasugatan sila sa kalmot ng agila, ipinagpatuloy pa rin nila ang pagbaba sa bundok upang matiyak ang kaligtasan nito.

Ayon sa mga wildlife expert, nananatili na ngayon sa kanilang pangangalaga ang pambansang ibon, na kabilang sa mga critically endangered species sa buong mundo at mahigpit na pinoprotektahan sa ilalim ng batas ng Pilipinas.

i’ll explain in simple ways based on my understanding of meteorology why PH’s aircon has been turned on again this past weekend. posting because i’ve seen plenty of posts claiming this is a bad omen or some sort which is NO

1. the big aircon wind called amihan returned in a late season surge. winds from the cold siberian winter more typically happening on nov-feb can still happen in march and even into april

2. humidity went down because of these dry winds from the north. typically march is defined by easterlies, the big sauna wind from the pacific ocean which is mainly the cause of the rising humidity during the hot months. now that the winds are dry, humidity becomes drier and in turn can make temperatures slide down than how they usually do

3. sea surface temperatures are typically at their lowest (in the northern hemisphere incl PH) at early-mid March. so the temps are not driven by the usual hot sauna energy of the surrounding water

4. foehn effect due to local geography. tho not really applicable to the general country, some places facing away from the windward direction with big mountain daddies behind can experience lower humidity and higher temperature swings (more hot and more cold). notable cities i could think are Vigan, Baguio, and Manila. other places are still cool bc of the above factors

5. is this climate change? not really. i’ve seen many posts thinking it’s a bad omen but it would only be if it is CONSISTENTLY COLD in more days and in MORE years. weather vs climate again. anomalies can still happen in everyday, but in a bigger scale (1991-2010), PH is still warming up.

5.5 if you think about it, pre-industrial revolution climate could have introduced more colder March nights frequently. climate change rather made it HARDER for these cool temps to happen, but again, a miracle of this anomaly still happened so ENJOY these remaining cold days

1. will this mean a hotter summer? not really, hot months are always going to be hot. BUT it hasn’t been an El Nino year (YET) and rainfall has been quite ample this amihan season due to a weak La Nina so i wouldn’t think it’s similar to 2024. closer to a 2025 hot and dry season i’d day for this year.

It's really heartbreaking that Mali lived her entire life without a herd of her own species.

But her taxidermied remains should stay at the National Museum of Natural History with Lolong, where her memory is immortalized and can teach everyone the lessons we failed to understand earlier about animal cruelty.

Grabe yung mga lindol recently. Last few weeks in Cebu, yesterday in Baguio, and another one earlier in Davao. Is this some chain reaction? I can't help but get scared kasi sunod-sunod angg malalakas na lindol. Is this normal?

Mt. Banahaw is like a rare “bonus view” from Makati, it only shows up on super clear days. I’ve seen it just once during my 3-day office weeks over the past 4 months. Most days, the best you get is Talim Island quietly sitting in the distance.

It’s roughly 70–80 km away (straight line) and around 100+ km by road, so seeing it from the city means the air is crazy clear.
