My mother is from Poland but moved to the Netherlands when she was 21 and then had me. Unfortunately she’s never taught me how to speak Polish because she was afraid I’d be having trouble with language in school.
Now I’m 31 and have children of my own. I remember very faintly she used to sing me a nursery rhyme or “lap song” in Polish that I loved as a kid and I would love to learn it again and pass it on to my son.
I don’t remember much of it but it started out with a singing line and then a kiss, I remember the word “paskudo or paskuda” being in it and it ended with something along the lines of “Mama jest be”. I remember only this and the melody. The rest got lost on me. Does anyone know what I’m talking about?
I know it as a small 4 line song.

I'm Italian and I'm making a game where your whole life happens on a virtual phone, from your first phone at 14 until you're old. Right now I'm writing the mum character, and I want her to sound like where you grew up.
Mine texts me "hai mangiato......" (did you eat?) every single day, always with way too many dots. What does yours send? Is there a word or phrase only a Polish mum would use, that I as an Italian would never understand?
The best messages go into the game. (sorry for my English)

I’m very confused by Polish grammar in certain cases.
If you you “ja nigdy tego nie zrobilam” isn’t that the equivalent to “I never did nothing” WHICH MEANS YOU DID SOMETHING
Shouldn’t the more grammatically and logically correct way be to say “ja nigdy tego zrobilam” but that just sounds off…….
Can someone explain?

Jakoś nieoczekiwanie ładna pogoda dzisiaj wyskoczyła, poszedłem sobie na jesienny spacer posłuchać smutów i przypadkiem wpadł mi w słuchawki Nick Cave, "Death Is Not the End". Podśpiewywałem sobie z Nickiem (i Kylie Minogue w drugiej zwrotce!) pod nosem, chodząc sobie po parku, no i jakoś tak same zaczęły mi przychodzić polskie frazy do głowy. Oryginalną piosenkę napisał Dylan w latach 80., w epoce swojego nawrócenia ;), musiałem troszkę poprawić refren, no bo zdaje się, że to jednak the end ;p Nie jest to wybitny przekład, ale cóż, piosenki są trudne, dzielę się i chętnie przyjmę poprawki! Oryginał tutaj.
Kiedyś smutny i samotny
kiedy wszystko jebał pies,
to pamiętaj –
że śmierć to wreszcie kres;
że śmierć to wreszcie kres.
Kiedy wszystko, co przeżyłeś,
to był tylko pierwszy kęs,
zapamiętaj –
że śmierć to wreszcie kres;
że śmierć to wreszcie kres.
Kiedy stoisz na rozdrożach,
kiedy czujesz tylko stres,
to pamiętaj –
że śmierć to wreszcie kres;
że śmierć to wreszcie kres.
Niebo puste, nic nie błyska,
obietnice marny śmiech;
po co toczyć pianę z pyska?
Nic nie szkodzi, lekki pech.
Kiedy wszystko, co istotne
się zamienia w potok łez,
to pamiętaj –
że śmierć to wreszcie kres;
że śmierć to wreszcie kres.
Kiedy z łąk zostają zgliszcza,
kiedy płonie nawet bez,
to pamiętaj –
że śmierć to wreszcie kres;
że śmierć to wreszcie kres.

I've been learning Polish for a few weeks because of travelling, and I'm somewhere around A2/B1. Vocab was okay, but the cases kept beating me. I'd learn that it's "nie mam czasu" and not "nie mam czas", and a week later I'd say it wrong again.
I knew what I should review, I just never did it. So I tied it to the thing I do most: opening Reddit. Now before it opens I have to get through 5 of my Polish cards, and only the ones I really know count.
My cards are mostly tiny case drills like "Widzę ___ (kot)" → "kota", plus aspect pairs (brać / wziąć 😩). Seeing them a few at a time in random moments works way better for me than my old evening sessions, and half the time I don't even open Instagram afterwards.
Still losing to "chrząszcz" though.
What helped you make the cases stick? Anything besides tons of input?
(I built the little app for this myself, the mods said it's fine to mention it: it's called "Braintoll: Flashcard Blocker")

I want to learn Polish in various ways, like using the old notebook for grammar and listening to music and watching shows.
I would love some recommendations, preferably something easy to follow for a beginner, haha. For example, let's exclude the rap genre in music. I'm a fan of classical music, but sadly I don't know many songs, so please help me.
For shows and TV, I'm lost. I'm thinking of watching stuff randomly, but I might lose interest in the show. I'm currently watching The Witcher (Wiedźmin), the very first show I'm starting with, and I'm loving it since I already watched the English version. Any recommendations would be nice, thank you.
Also, since I'm looking for friends, it would be nice to get to know a few nice people to help each other with languages. I'm confident in my ability to help with English since I hold a bachelor's degree in it, so I would love to help you out.
Also, with no pressure, I hope to meet up with the buddies I make here, since I'm moving to Poland in a few months to work with my brother.
I'm 24 years old and into the gym and games. Sorry for the long post, and nice to meet you!

Hi fellow redditors,
I have a question regarding the admission process for EU students.
I want to apply for a masters degree in Wroclaw and I was wondering if I needed my Bachelor's degree in Polish or English? And if I have to transform my grades from the 1-10 system into the 1-5 or not.
I have tried contacting the Admissions Centre Foreign Student Admissions Office, but I got a basic autoreply email imo.
