Political Theory How important is the will of the people to you?
I see a lot of comments here that seem to equate democracy and liberalism (e.g. calling something with popular support in a country a threat to democracy because it infringes on rights). I wanted to break out the actual popular will part. How important is it to you?
Does it matter how the will of the people comes about? For example, if a populace has been fed a steady stream of propaganda, is that will still valid? Is there a meaningful difference between that and an internal campaign of social-engineering as was quite common in the early/mid twentieth centuries?
