I need help with this Stars Ultimate (Two no Touch) clue

Hi,

I am playing Stars Ultimate, also known as Two No Touch. I have this hint from the website, that I just do not understand and I am looking for some help.

When I trial and error the brown squares with red x's they come out as not correct, so I know the clue is right. But I would like to understand what this clue is saying.

First image is where I was stuck, second image is what I see when I hit the 'Hint' button. When I press 'Show me' on the hint, it just crosses out the two brown squares and doesn't explain.

If you can figure it out, I would be very grateful ☺️

How do you keep track of eliminations when a puzzle has hundreds of options?

I've been working on a puzzle with a long list of suspects and a handful of clues that each rule some people out. On paper I'd cross names out and get lost. How do you keep track when there are hundreds of options? Do you work through clue by clue, group by group, or something smarter?

Not seeking solutions Color Sweeper - Do you sometimes just guess?

i love Color Sweeper, and I'm getting my head round the logic, but often I'm finding that there are situations where i just have to take a guess. Am I missing something in the logic or is that just what happens sometimes?

I'd like to improve at this game.

[Unsolved] Help with cipher please :)

Fere libenter homines id quod volunt credunt = 3626

Felix felicis = 3210

It's from a game. Just need to find a method/key, by which I translate the sentence to the numbers. Tried everything that came to my mind, no success. Both examples should work by the same principle. Any ideas?

Not seeking solutions Looking for Recommendations

I just finished playing Hakari.io and I absolutely loved it. I'm not on the leaderboard yet, but I will be soon. I loved how much research you have to do to find the solution to each puzzle. It felt very intellectual and text-focused rather than other puzzles that are more spacial and word-play based.

Does anyone have any recommendations for puzzles like Hakari?

Six Winds Puzzle

Extend straight arms from every numbered cell in the six directions. A number gives the combined length of all arms extending from that cell. Arms cannot cross, overlap, leave the grid, or pass through another numbered cell, and every empty cell must be covered exactly once. Number cell is not included in the arm lengths sum.

Not seeking solutions Do you know of similar mastermind solving puzzles?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi! I bought a logic puzzles booklet and it has what they call mastermind puzzles. I am really enjoying working out the combination on the fixed set of clues and I'd love to find similar puzzles online. It doesn't have to be text instead of numbers or colors, but I do like how they feel a little bit more complicated than guessing 4x4 numbers for example. I have been searching on google but most of my results are related to the 'old fashioned' mastermind games and ChatGPT says they're logic grid which they're obviously not... Maybe someone here has an idea?

Sorry about the Dutch in the picture (I hope it's still allowed!), in case anyone is interesting in working out the solution for themselves: the numbers on the left indicate the amount of correct words in a row and the numbers on the right indicate the amount of words in the correct column/location.

Same concept as Meowdoku - one otter per colour, row and column, I don't know where to start here and I crossed out everything I could see being able to be crossed.

What does contradiction mean in hamdoku, or meowdoku?

Post image

I can’t work it out for the life of me. It says if I place a hamster in the dark green box with a white outlined hamster in it, it would cause a contradiction which would mean I wouldn’t be able to place one in the lime green colour boxes. It then goes on to show a hamster in the purple box after I click next. Can’t work it out totally baffled.

[SOLVED] Meowdoku - Advice/Tips Needed

Post image

Can someone explain to me how in the poop I’m supposed to know where the first cat goes? Surely they don’t expect you to just guess and hope you get it right? I love this game and have played for a while, but every time I come to one of these levels where it’s not either a single colored cell, or obvious by row elimination, I have no clue how to figure out where to start.

Any tips, tricks, or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Minoru Abe’s Climb 15

Post image
5 Upvotes

Has anyone here solved Minoru Abe’s 'Climb 15' tile puzzle, where the aim is to get the upside down T-shaped tile from the bottom to the top - the body of the T slotting into the recess. (There is a smaller '12' version and a bigger '24' version.)

I’ve had this puzzle for years and have never managed to get anywhere near to solving it. I know there are 4 different starting positions for the tiles, with the ideal solutions ranging from somewhere between 100 to about 150 moves, depending on the setup.

If you have solved it, how long did it take you?

And is it one of those puzzles where once you’ve understood a principle. or a sequence, it becomes easier? I do know there are solutions online but I'm determined to crack this one myself, one day...

Thanks.

Not seeking solutions Book rec request: difficult number puzzle collection

I must take my puzzle addition offline and need your book recommendations please! I’m looking for print books with:
- deductive logic number/spacial puzzles. Most puzzles I’ve found in this category are Japanese, but open to others
- 100% difficult puzzles. I searched previous posts, and Puzzle Ninja by Alex Bellos is close to what I want, except the inclusion of easy puzzles.
- human made, not computer generated
- a variety of puzzles, or at least not all sudoku

Open to good ebooks recs too, willing to send to a printing service.

For context, the puzzles I’m hopelessly addicted to are the “weekly extremes” on sudokuwiki.com and str8ts.com, and the “specials” on www.puzzle-heyawake.com and www.puzzle-galaxies.com

Thank you! Your answer will help save my time and mental health

[SOLVED] Medium Queens

I'm out of ideas here on my first medium level. I guess I could just guess and use a pencil to mark the consequences and see if I hit a contradiction, but that doesn't seem very fun. Any help appreciated.

Trilia puzzle (Not Sudoku or Tectonic)

Post image

I think i have to stress that this are different rules from Sudoku and Tectonic, a bit o hybrid 😀

Rules: Place 1, 2, and 3 once in every row, column, and outlined irregular region. Equal numbers cannot touch, even diagonally, and all remaining cells stay empty.

[SOLVED] Sliding Puzzle Help

I wouldn't normally ask for help on a puzzle, but this one has had me genuinely stumped. Bones can only move in the direction they're pointed, need to get the golden bone out through the hole. Is this even possible?
