A person was taken into custody Monday morning after a house caught fire in Redmond while police were responding to an unrelated call at the property.
The fire was reported at 5:26 a.m. at a home in the 12100 block of 179th Place Northeast. The house was engulfed in flames when responders arrived, and no one was inside.
Police had already been at the home for a separate call when the fire broke out.
Authorities have not yet confirmed what led to the person’s arrest or whether the fire was intentionally set.

I’ve been surprised by how difficult it’s been to find queer spaces around Redmond. I’m looking for platonic friends and community, not dating or hookup vibes. So far our best bet has been literally going into Seattle (which, of course, has some amazing spaces).
I know SoulFood has a generally LGBTQ-friendly vibe, and I haven’t felt unwelcome anywhere locally, but it would be nice to find a queer/trans/GNC friend group, regular meetup, or even just a casual social night that doesn’t involve driving into Seattle.
And I KNOW y’all are out there in those Microsoft and Amazon offices. 💅
Also, if you’re in the same boat, especially my fellow tech worker dolls, feel free to send me a DM! Maybe we can organize a gay little coffee meetup or something (nails? MTG pod? review each others rust code? 🤭)

I was talking with my mom the other day, as I expressed interest in moving to Redmond/WA and she advised I try to seek out information from locals regarding the area (yk things like the 'good' or 'bad' parts of town, local favorite spots from longer residents, things you wish you knew prior to moving there, how to find a decent job and a decent apartment (and if any are for sure 'bad' ones) all the basics and whatever else you may have to offer from your opinions!
I just wanted to hear it from locals given Ive never been to WA even and the soonest I could would be January... thanks in advance!
Edit: I'm wanting to transfer from my current college to DigiPen and maybe one day end up working under Microsoft (Mojang specifically)

We all swipe at screens all day and rarely have real and good conversations. We complain about it but it's hard to escape! I'd like to change that.
I’m restarting Socrates Cafe in Redmond, a casual discussion group I used to run for years. Each session we pick one big question (what makes a good life? is lying ever okay? Who do you admire and why?) and talk it through.
First meetup is Wed. 11/4 @ 6:30pm-8:00pm @ Post Doc Brewing.
Goal is to meet every two weeks. Open to planning for different days/times/locations. This was just to get thing started. So if you're interested leave a comment or DM. Thx!

Hi fellow surbubians,
I'm planning to gift a painting of a pet as a gift (and maybe one for myself as well) to hang up on the wall. I'm looking for a small/medium drawing maybe around 8x11"? Thought I might as well look local first. I'll have reference images supplied and the deadline is in a couple of months.
Please shoot me a DM or leave a comment if you could help and are local! Thanks!

Just noticed what looks to be water damage, so I have a feeling something behind the wall is leaking. I have no idea where to even begin. Any suggestions on someone I can contact?

Hey! Now that hiking season is winding down, I’m looking to pick up some indoor sports to stay active through the big gray. I'd love to find some folks to play badminton with. I’m a 37-year-old, pretty chill and easygoing guy, and I’d say I’m somewhere around intermediate level. Nothing too intense - just a notch or two above absolute beginner.
I’m fairly flexible wrt timing, but Sunday late mornings (around 10am - noon) would be ideal. Would be great to make this a weekly thing. If there’s enough interest, happy to start a group chat and get something going. Or if you already have a regular group and have room for one more, I’d love to join! Haven’t tried other racquet sports yet, but I’m open to giving them a shot as long as they’re indoors.
Feel free to comment or DM me 🙂

Any good spots that you all would recommend around town? We normally do redmond town center but haven’t been super impressed with it the last few years and our neighborhood isn’t trick or treating friendly at all. Thank you!

Redmond City Council terminated the RPD Flock contract back in July and, while those surveillance cameras are finally all gone as of about 10 days ago, there are other businesses and HOAs that are still scanning your plate in the area via private contracts.
Target for example has just installed two automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras outside of their store here in Redmond. These cover each direction along 177th Place Northeast. You don't even need to park up to be captured, just driving past is all it takes.
Target now joins Home Depot, Lowe's and FedEx in subjecting their customers and passersby to this form of dragnet surveillance!
While those other three businesses all use Flock, the Target cameras appear to be the Axis Communications Q1800-LE model. The specific software used and who else has access to all of this data is currently unknown, but it's all the same form of surveillance no matter the brand.
We've also heard similar reports from elsewhere so this does appear to be something that Target is rolling out nationwide!
Check out the DeFlock map to see how you can avoid these cameras as you go about your daily activities. You might also consider contacting their customer services department to let them know how you feel about this.

My specialized turbo vado was just stolen last night off my back patio. My apartment is right behind the bella bottega shopping center by Redmond elementary. Honestly thought this was a decent area, only been living here a couple weeks.
If anyone has any info or sees one for sale I would appreciate a reach out.

Our cat got out this morning near the sixty-01 condos in Redmond. Please keep an eye out for her. She’s a short haired grey and white female cat, five years old. Her name is Miles and I’ll post photos of her below. Please DM or reply if you’ve seen her or have info! 🙏🏻

Hey everyone! I'm just wondering if there's are any streets with lots of decorated houses? I'm aware Halloween isn't as popular as Christmas for decor, which is exactly why I'm asking!
We want to go for a drive and check out some decorations before the holiday is over :)

I know nothing about this person other than this. Am I supposed to vote for her somewhere somehow?
