Hello everyone, a creator asked to spread this anti-data center petition. they’re trying to get to 10,000 signatures before Tuesday morning when they present it to the board of supervisors. It’s currently at 9,735, it takes less than 5 minutes to sign. Please consider as data centers are terrible for everyone across the nation and globe.

“HCD will evaluate the city’s response and determine whether further enforcement actions are warranted,” the department said in an email to The Record. “For example, these actions could include revocation of HCD’s finding of compliance if HCD determines the city has taken an action or has failed to take an action inconsistent with its Housing Element.”

Community Is Halloween Happening or No?

• Upvotes

So my street doesn't have any halloween spirit lately, and last year we only got like 8 trick-or-treaters. I always buy soooo much candy hoping people are going to show up.

Who's down to turn on the porch lights or have their trunks open for Halloween this year?!

I live in Moreno Valley near a school.

My in-laws get the little one this year, they dont want to leave the neighborhood to visit the town's best halloween streets. I do every year. And all her school friends are leaving to their normal Hotspot.

I just dont want my kiddo to be disappointed. She's been waiting for this day since Nov 1st last year.

Community Looking for a Physical Therapist / Sports Physical Therapist

Hi all! I was hoping to find some recommendations for a physical therapist or orthopedic clinic for rehabilitation focused on returning to sports! i’m no professional or competitive athlete just like to strength train and run! i recently loss about 50lbs and have been dealing with some really bad back pain hip pain and foot and ankle issues. i’m pretty sure it’s starting from a feet up issue (i’ve been flatfooted since i was born but never really addressed it). it’s starting to greatly impact my ability to engage in the fitness activities i thoroughly enjoy but PT thru my primary has been more about relieving pain but not so much addressing issues to return to my level of activity. Any recommendations are greatlyyyy appreciated!

Hey folks! Does anyone know why the Candy Store next to The Mission Inn close? Does anyone know what will replace it?
It’s so strange that 90% of that whole side of the plaza has no store fronts all up and down the entire stretch. I hope that we see the day with small businesses thriving.

Community Looking for musician/jam sessions

Hey yall! I just moved to Riverside and my main hobby is playing music. I play guitar, drums, and can kinda sorta sing. Aside from Reddit, where can I find musicians in the area get together to jam or maybe even form bands? I also have some extra gear for others to use. Thanks in advance!

At UC Riverside Conference, Latino Storytellers Challenge Hollywood to go Beyond Representation

After a screening of the 1994’s “...y no se lo trago la tierra,” a movie about a migrant family and their struggles as farmworkers through the eyes of a child, I was left wondering when the Latinx community will stop being fruit pickers on the big screen.

These types of films capture the struggle of the first generation of the Latinx experience in the States. But, who is the voice of the second generation? What’s the best film or television series that captures the Latinx experience of the children of those farmworkers, or even the generation after that?

Before the film, Severo Perez, the film’s director and screenwriter, had a conversation with Luis Valdez, a playwright and screenwriter, about being a Latinx creator within the limits of Hollywood. It was the 38th annual Tomás Rivera Conference, a public forum that reflects on the contributions of the Latinx community across the arts at the University of California, Riverside.

I don’t think anyone has truly captured the angst, the struggle and the emotional distress that have come from being the children of immigrants, and it is not a representation problem, Valdez said.

I just found out only three Wigwam Villages are still standing in the whole country, and one is on Foothill Boulevard

I just found out only three Wigwam Villages are still standing in the whole country, and one of them is on Foothill Boulevard.

Frank Redford came up with the Wigwam Village idea, and he built this one himself. Seven villages were built in all. Two of the three survivors sit on Route 66, and this is one of them. Nineteen wigwams stand on the lot, it straddles the line between Rialto and San Bernardino, and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

It's one of those places that looks like a movie set until you realize people sleep there.

Have you ever spent a night in one, or only driven past and wondered?
