The major U.S. stock indexes ended broadly higher on Monday, October 26, 2026, as Anthropic’s surprise IPO filing reignited AI enthusiasm, oil fell back below $102, and ten of eleven S&P 500 sectors finished in the green. It was the relief session bulls desperately needed after two brutal weeks, with the S&P 500 recovering to within 1.6% of its all-time high.

The S&P 500 gained 0.70% (+53.09 pts) to 7,676.77. The Dow added 0.28% (+146.42 pts) to 52,361.58. The Nasdaq climbed 0.82% (+214.04 pts) to 26,169.38. The Russell 2000 rose 0.32% (+8.97 pts) to 2,784.87.

The 10-year Treasury yield was little changed at 4.99%. The VIX dropped 5.31% to 18.42. Bitcoin slipped 0.72% to $79,805.08. Gold gained 0.49% to $4,027.70. Crude Oil fell 1.58% to $101.64/barrel, its first close below $102 since last week’s Houthi attack surge.

Hey everyone! I’m 23M and started investing about 2 months ago, mainly in VTI.
Just this week, I opened my Roth IRA and enrolled in my employer’s 401(k), which matches 50% of the first 4% I contribute.
I’m still learning about tax-advantaged accounts and investing in general. I work a regular job and DoorDash on the side, trying to invest as much as I reasonably can while I’m young.
Here’s what I’m curious about:
Is sticking with VTI actually the smartest move at 23, or are there better ETFs and strategies that could help me build wealth faster?
I’ve been looking into VOO, QQQM, SCHG, and dividend ETFs like SCHD. Is dividend investing even worth considering at my age, especially if I’m reinvesting everything? Or should I focus entirely on total returns and growth?
For those who’ve been investing for 10–30+ years, what would you do differently if you were starting over at 23?
Would you stick with broad-market ETFs, focus on growth stocks, or build a dividend portfolio early?
Genuinely trying to learn and hear different perspectives. Appreciate any advice!

Started with ETFs like voo and schd after reading the Bogleheads and Dividends subreddit

That second one got me interested in buying ARCC and O. Then I always heard about coke being safe long term so got some there and touched on qqq but learned qqqm is cheaper expense ratio.

Vxus to get intl exposure.

At times I just wanna throw it all at VOO but coke is actually doing the best for me. Lol.

Any ideas on what can be improved upon? Or remove? Appreciate any thoughts welcome

I set up recurring investment in my Robinhood account back in April after being inspired by Youtuber Bob Sharpe. $5 is automatically invested every trading day into VOO, and it finally built up to 1 Share. This isn't my main portfolio but it's a fun way to build up a position for the price of a daily coffee.

I dont understand stocks enough to feel confident in doing my own trades have you guys used the ai trading (im using claude) or the growth portfolio where robinhood invests for you? What are your thoughts

So I had enough money in account to use the free $1000 margin before and it seemed to be working fine using SGOV like recommended here. But now I placed another $1000 to use for something else but it seems like they just automatically shifted it to "cover" the $1000 margin? So how do I both keep the $1000 of free margin as SGOV while also depositing more cash to buy other stuff? I also can't withdraw that $1000 out either.

I haven't used Robinhood in a bit, just tried to set a limit sell order for extended hours, and it won't let me do it. When I set the market hours to extended and submit the order, it queues it for the morning. This is on SOXS, which the last time I knew, traded 24 hours.

Why wouldn't everyone with gold, whether they trade on margin or not, not take the $1k interest free margin and buy something stable with dividends like SGOV?

Feels like a free $3/mo but also like I must be missing something.

Hi all, I’m in the UK and looking into trading options on Robinhood. There’s one thing I’m struggling to get my head around.

Say you’re holding a 0DTE call or put that’s in the money, but you don’t have the cash to buy the shares for a call, or the shares to deliver for a put. I understand Robinhood may try to sell the contract before the close, but if it can’t, it can submit a “do not exercise” instruction and you could lose the option’s remaining value?

Has this actually happened to anyone here? What was the ticker, roughly how many contracts did you have, and had you tried selling it yourself first?

I’d want to close before expiry anyway, but I’m trying to understand whether this is a real problem on actively traded stocks or mainly a worst-case scenario in the terms. First-hand experiences would be really helpful. Cheers!

I'm dipping my toes into day trading but just starting off using Robinhood on my phone. I'm awaiting my PC atm. Is there any tips on trading on Robinhood using my phone? Its pretty slow when I Buy/Sell shares and I know you have to buy/sell within seconds if you want to make it. Any advice? Thank you so much!
