On Friday (23rd October), the High Court in London issued the first witness summons against a member of the royal family since 1870 this week. The worthy recipient is none other than Andrew himself.

He’s apparently embroiled in a £40M fraud trial involving a former Goldman Sachs banker (Selman Turk) and a wealthy Turkish woman (Nebahat Evyap İşbilen). She had entrusted Turk with the task of transferring $90M of assets out of Turkey to avoid state seizure.

She now alleges that Turk siphoned off c. £40M of those assets into offshore structures and companies entirely under his control. Further, and rather concerningly, large sums of her money appear to have been transferred to Andrew and/or his former office. Turk alleges that the sum of £750k was willingly paid by İşbilen as she understood that Andrew could help her husband.

I find myself wondering if this was during his time as Govt Trade Envoy. If so, criminal charges will almost certainly follow.

Wherever he goes and whatever he does, he leaves behind a trail of sleaze the size of London itself. How proud the Royals must be. At least he didn’t marry a mixed race divorcée from California, eh?(!)
