Am I the only one who misses when we used to see Warner in almost every single episode? It was one of those couple things in the show that we could rely on never changing but now it is, and we keep seeing Susan and other medical examiners. I loved seeing her at scenes, or anytime they said the medical examiner was ready for them Just being happy to see her, testifying in court and everything šŸ’”šŸ’”.

It just really sucks not seeing Melinda as often. She’s genuinely one of my favorite reoccurring characters and it’s hard to watch the show without her.😭

Discussion Main cast Actors who while acting in svu got through very difficult times in their private lives

Post image
18 Upvotes

I was re watching S 20 and I didn’t realize before how difficult those seasons were for Kelli.

She got her second baby in November 2018, she left her first husband only a couple of weeks later in December or January and in March 2019 she asked official for the divorce and a 2 year long custody battle followed.Ā

If a mother takes her toddler and her newborn baby with her and leaves then something fundamental is broken that could no longer be healed.Ā

All that time professional there was no sign of the difficult time she was going through.

She was acting about all the difficulties about being alone after the doctor All debacle while in her own life she was going through the same.Ā

To be under that stress must be unbelievably difficult.Ā

In 2019 Mariska said:Ā

The actress named her co-star Kelli Giddish as one of her muses.
ā€œKelli is one of the strongest people, I’d say, in a lot of ways, like, a lot cooler than I am … so there’s so many women that I admire and look up to and I try to grab pieces of those,ā€ she said.

I assume Mariska was referring to her personally, how she was managing to go through these traumatic times and how she fought for her children, not about how remarkable it was that she played in a dark show like SVU.Ā

Were there other actors in the main cast who got through very difficult times, while acting in the show if everything was totally OK?Ā

Discussion ONE OF THE WORST SVU EPISODES

ā€œJustice deniedā€ season 13 episode 17

Bensons character seems especially insufferable in this episode and I actually really like her. It really sucks how they constantly blame or rest and even sometimes convict the wrong person and can never admit when they’re wrong.😭😭

He’s been holding up his innocence for eight years and even when the actual rapist strikes again Olivia still wouldn’t believe that she got the wrong guy. She suggested that maybe he had someone else outside Do it to hold up his lie maybe it’s a completely different person just the same Mo , anything, but considering the fact she may be wrong.

She completely dropped the ball on the evidence. As a detective it is your job to review the evidence and make sure you also have all your facts straight. Which she clearly did not do because she would have noticed that the scarf was red and not green.

And let’s not even mention the fact that she completely coerced his confession. They had him in the room for nine hours no food no water. And we already know Benson and Elliot interrogation tactics. They 100% told him that he did it and that no matter what he says, they’re going to be convicted anyway which Olivia admitted to saying. She literally fed him information of the case, and then when he was finally tired and gave a coerced confession, she used the evidence that she gave him as proof that he was guilty…..

I hate how sometimes the show misses so many opportunities for character development. This is not the first time she or her partner have convicted the wrong person. Why is she not looking at things a little more closely? Even after the episode is over it’s not like she’s gonna learn anything from it. I feel like every episode we forget what happened in the last like I just hate how the show never makes people develop.

Olivia is a seasoned detective making the same mistakes and doing the same things. She’s been doing since season one. this isn’t the first time SVU has tried to use the storyline, but God doesn’t get more annoying every single time. Love the show, but hate how they try to push the narrative that she’s an amazing seasoned detective, but they give her no character development and have her doing the same thing and making the same mistakesšŸ™„šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

Discussion Sarah Walsh deserved justice that verdict really upset me in True Believers

• Upvotes

I geuninely hated the not guilty verdict in True Believers, Sarah Walsh deserved justice and watching Michael walk away with a not guilty verdict was infuriating.

I understand racism exists as a biracial man I get it but I felt like Ellis unnecessarily made race the center of this case while slut shaming Sarah on the stand.

My biggest criticism is showing us Michael raping Sarah and holding her hostage in the opening was a mistake. It ruined any ambiguity the episode could have had because we know he did it.

Had the writers left it off screen like in the Stabler seasons the whole argument about Michael potentially being wrongfully accused would have been more effective.

Instead we spent the entire episode watching a guilty man defended while his victim; Sarah Walsh was humiliated. Sarah's reaction was justified.

I do think that Sarah's father calling Michael and Ellis a black bastard was completely unnecessary we didn't need a racist outburst either.

What are times throughout law and order SVU where you were against Olivia and Elliot And the other detectives and Casey Novak and we’re rooting for the suspects that they were going after whether is was because of how great the actor is or the suspect was and they going after the wrong person.

Discussion Why Don’t They Utilize The Cast More?

I’m alllll about previous characters guest staring on the show! Many of them have had a huge impact on the show and have a lot of fans who want to see them back but why do characters have to be off the show/not series regulars to get the good and exciting storylines now.

They could do SO MUCH MORE with Benson (well..maybe not) Fin, Rollins, Carisi, Bruno, Curry and Griffin who are actually on the show full time (minus the eps they miss due to budget cuts ofc).

Yes 28x03 WAS more of a Bruno episode but he’s been on the show for 4 years and only now has gotten more of a focus on him.

Rollins was given more interesting scenes when she was a guest star from 24-26 than what she’s gotten since her full time return.

Velasco got a really good episode about him when he guest started after he left as a series regular last season too.

No doubt the 600th will be great ā€˜milestone’ episode but again, focusing on a character who isn’t a series regular.

Idk it just seems like they could do so much more to make the show and the characters they have actually interesting like they used to back in the day.

Discussion What if Barba was in earlier SVU seasons?

I love Alex and Casey, but also LOVE Barba. I wonder if Barba would have even been more loved if he was in the early days of SVU where episodes were written better and more impactful?

Edit: Not saying he should have replaced Novak and Cabot. I am just wondering what could have been if he handled similar cases as in the earlier seasons. Im watching Seasons 1-5 for the first time (I am loving all the casey and alex eps!!)

Also hated his exit I could never rewatch 😭😭

Stuckey, Dana, and Lake were all significant characters in one season of SVU, ultimately becoming involved in a homicide case. Interestingly, all three worked in law enforcement: Stuckey was a forensic technician, Dana was an FBI agent, and Lake was an SVU detective. Lake even appeared in the opening credits during season 9.

Discussion What happened in season 10 was not planned

Thumbnail gallery

At the end of season 9, the character of Casey Novak is investigated for concealing a forensic report. At the beginning of season 10, it is revealed that she was suspended for three years as punishment. This is when a new ADA, Kim Greylek, enters the scene. This sparked a lot of criticism, first because of Novak's departure—a character the audience had already embraced and grown very fond of—and then because of the introduction of this new character, who was different and tougher. This caused quite a stir. By episode 15 of season 10, the character of Michaela McManus no longer appeared, marking her departure and the return of Alexandra Cabot. Interestingly, Michaela McManus continued to appear in the opening credits throughout the remainder of season 10. For season 11, there was another change of prosecutor; Alexandra Cabot disappeared, and with her, we had ADA Sonya Paxton. In just one season, we had three prosecutors. In a recent interview, Michaela McManus commented that her departure was a production decision because her character didn't fit the pace of the series.

I'm rewatching the series in order, I got to season 11 and it reaffirmed my love for Ada Sonya Paxton. They were such a badass, and I loved her toughness. She was the only one who wasn't submissive or afraid of Elliot, even slapping him. A tough woman, but also vulnerable. Her alcoholism was a twist, and her return was surprising, dying like a heroine with a hair from the criminal in her possession. Here I want to acknowledge Christine Lahti's acting prowess; she's an icon of acting for a reason, winning an Oscar, an Emmy, and a Golden Globe.

what are your thoughts and opinions on Law and Order SVU season 6 episode 6 conscience.

I think this was a really great episode. I was really shocked at the father shooting psychotic kid, but I found myself rooting for the father and understanding where he was coming from. I was honestly for the first time rooting for Casey Novak to lose the trial and yeah, I agree I feel like you should have gotten some time but not a long time.
