I love a good scandal speech but this scene is so ridiculous, the constant ‘bitch baby’ and Olivia’s facial expressions…it’s classic scandal, so OTT

PLEASE TELL ME QUINN IS NOT DEAD!!!

Just watched the episode with Quinn's funeral and I'm crying my eyes out. I hate Olivia even though I usually defend her in everything.

I can't believe she was willing to gamble on her friend's life ( a friend that was 9 months pregnant).

WHERE TF IS THE WHITE HAT???

I hate the goddamn white hat

I hate hearing it I hate the concept of it but most of all I hate seeing it. It took me entirely too long to figure out what they were talking about when they kept talking about the white hat. Eventually I let it go but then Olivia pulled out that god awful monstrosity from her closet and put it on. I actually haven’t seen watched this show in months but I just randomly got mad and had to say something bc

i’m currently on season 5, at the episode where cyrus and fitz finally make up, and he gets his chief of staff position back. now, i KNOW cyrus was working with mellie before, so i’m still a little skeptical of him. 😭🤣 i just need a simple YES or NO. will cyrus betray fitz again in any way, shape, or form?! and PLEASE don’t tell me to just keep watching! 🤣😭 i need to know NOW! i don’t need details or major spoilers ( unless you want to give them to me 😉) , just a yes or no!

Gladiators in suit !

I visited Rome a couple weeks ago and went to the colosseum (obviously). I didn’t know much about gladiators history and always thought the men who fought were slaves or criminal forced to do so only for entertainment. We were actually told that a good amount of them were also volunteers from all social classes, rich and poor, looking for fame and glory. I found it fascinating.

Olivia and the team call themselves gladiators in suit. Always thought it was only for the fighting aspect of it and because it sounded cool but now, I find it so fitting.

Every time they help a powerful client it brings them up higher in the social hierarchy. They use their connections to get leverage and opportunities that ultimately leads to glory and fame.

Maybe it’s common knowledge but I never thought about it before haha !

Season Discussion My updated crushes list after finishing season 3

(See my season 2 list for the preamble on why I’m doing this and for comparison)

Season 3 was my favorite season so far, by a long shot! Holy shit, I finally fell IN LOVE with this show. I also fell in love with - more accurately, lusted over - a lot of characters along the way. So without further ado, here are my season 3 crushes!

1. Still Quinn, and OMG, she got evennn hotter this season. I loved seeing her in her badass AND soft feminine energy with Charlie….and her very freaky energy with Huck (yes, I loved it, sue me). I also loved her style evolution, and how she started really showing her dominant side sometimes too. 🤤😩

2. Mellie has replaced David Rosen for the #2 spot. Like Quinn, she got even hotter this season. The tone she was using with Olivia at their staged public lunch together? Use that with me in bed, mommy. AND THEN THEY FINALLY GAVE HER A REAL LOVE INTEREST!!! Getting to see that side of a character automatically makes them 10x hotter. And with Mellie, it’s been a long time coming.

3. Andrew. Oh my god, even before he was revealed as Mellie’s love interest, I wanted him from the second he appeared onscreen. I love the way he looks at/talks to women. He may be a playboy or whatever they called him, but you can tell he’s a true woman LOVER. I just know he’s the type of man who defines making love not fucking. He’s devastatingly handsome. And sooooo good together with Mellie. I absolutely love how down bad he is for her, especially after Fitz treating her like shit for so many years. Meldrew (Andie? Idk) is the hottest couple I’ve ever seen on TV (don’t shoot me, Olitz stans).

4. Sally Langston. Please do not look at me during this humiliating time. I started to see it when she would get jealous over her gay husband. Then I REALLY saw it when she went full psycho. Something about people going completely insane and desperate and unhinged really turns me on. Then I looked up pictures/interviews of Kate Burton when she was young - guys, SHE WAS STUNNING.

5. Leo Bergen. I like the way he talks to people. His (over)confidence does it for me. He acts like he’s never afraid and he owns every room. Some people can really make being an asshole work for them. I’d hate him but I’d absolutely fold.

6. James. He got hotter when his life started to be in danger and he was working around the clock to betray his husband. That was also when I noticed he has a VERY sexy voice.

7. Dominick (RIP)

8. Maya. Older dom femme who’s completely evil? This looks like everything I ordered! Also, was it just me or did anyone else think that she and Adnan should’ve hooked up? The tension was real; they should’ve gone sexual with it. Speaking of Adnan though…

9. Adnan Salif. WHEWWW. I was shocked to learn she was a woman lol let alone such a goddamn beautiful one!! I understand why Harrison still got with her even though he thought she was out to kill him.

10. Abby. FINALLY, THEY LEARNED HOW TO DO HER HAIR AND MAKEUP!!! She was so gorgeous and regal-looking in every single scene she was in this season. That stick-straight hair from the first two seasons was tragic; the volume they added looks amazing, and the smudgy auburn eyeliner that matches her red hair makes her blue eyes simply tear through the screen. Also, she and David are so cute🥺 I love how their relationship developed this season.

11. Honorable mentions to Jake and Fitz bc I still like them but don’t really have many new thoughts to add since last season. I’ll give brief updates: JAKE - I love that he gives Olivia freedom and space (especially in comparison to someone else I’m about to mention…🙄). But it’s so dramatic and unserious how many times he’s been like “Goodbye, Olivia” only to show up back at her doorstep/office/phone immediately in the next episode LMAO. But yeah, I just like him and think he’s a good guy. Even when he had to kill people, he did so in the kindest way possible. He doesn’t seem evil like Eli was as Command. His final moments with James had me full-on crying. FITZ - his attitude ever so slightly improved from last season. I think his best moments are public-facing in his role as president. He was really sexy in the debate and in interviews. The only president who’s ever been as charismatic as Obama lol

Taking the Heat (1993)

I know it’s not Scandal, but it’s Tony Goldwyn and the absolute gem that is Lynn Whitfield.

It’s actually pretty good (surprisingly) and really funny! Both leads are great in it (and hot), I highly recommend. Had me cackling a few times.

It’s very corny 90s TV-Movie thriller but it’s such a fun film. And it’s free on YouTube!

Has anyone seen it?

Why do people say Fitz was misogynistic and not call out Mellie's mysogynoir?

Mysogynoir was coined to examine the intersection of someone whose controveries around feminism center around anti-blackness towards women.

People cite Fitz's words when he found out about Defiance and Olivia put herself out there in the church, and then blindly forget the countless times Mellie called Olivia a whore, after she told Olivia that her role was to keep Fitz happen in bed. In season 1, she tells Olivia that she let Amanda get into Fitz's pants, forgetting that she was the wife watched her husband get his sexual appetites from not one but two other women. She casually then tells Olivia she is taking her husband back, as if it is a matter of fact thing, and that Olivia was positioned beneath her, despite all Olivia had done to get Fitz elected.

When she realizes that Fitz is actually in love with Olivia in season 2, she keeps referencing his erections around her, her magical thighs, etc., anything but her intellect, power, and other attributes that may actually make her someone Fitz enjoyed outside of the bedroom. She threw Jeanine under the bus in season 3, so that Fitz would not go public with his affair, but then begged Olivia to come back and warm her husband's bed by middle of season 3. So she is still trying to position her as someone Fitz needs to get off with, so that he can focus on the job.

By season 5, when Olivia comes forward with the affair, she says "oh look, it's the woman who can't close her legs, or her mouth." Now Olivia may have slept with her husband, but her continued need to separate Olivia's intellect, and Fitz's emotional connection to her, from their sexual attraction was deliberate. She forces Olivia to be her campaign manager, so that she can subjugate her after the divorce from Fitz, and salvage the embarrassment she felt when the affair went public.

Her story with Marcus does not erase her behaviour towards Olivia. If Fitz displays this, which we have to admit he does not, Mellie's own behaviour eclipses his own, and no one wants to own this. Because ZOMG she was cheated on....

How do we feel about the Mellivia era?

Is it two women realising they're better off without useless men who hold them back?

It is simply unbelievable given their history of cheating and name-calling?

Or is it just a mutually beneficial relationship between two people who wanted power and could use each other to get it?

Rewatching Scandal again and nobody makes my jaw drop with their jabs towards his women quite like fitz. He went so low with the insults omg. The interrogation with Command, with Liv at Baby’s christening , and then the dialogue i have quoted with Mellie to name a few. LMAO. He really threw tantrums with a might when the odds allowed it.

Why does every dialogue sound like slam poetry

I’ve been watching Scandal for the last couple of months. I’m on season 5 now and it’s really starting to irritate me how almost every dialogue sounds like slam poetry. Why couldn’t they just talk normal.

Post Discussion Olivia couldn’t stand Edison 😭

Post image
294 Upvotes

Olivia couldn’t stand Edison. Yes, they for dated nine years, and they seemed to have been in a long-term relationship, but she didn’t love him anymore. Fitz was the love of her life.

Olivia didn’t care for Edison, she was always being mean to him 🫩

When Fitz and Olivia broke up, Edison didn’t know exactly what had happened, but he could tell that Olivia had just come out of a relationship.
she decided to give him a chance, but she wasn’t in love with him. She was using him to get over Fitz

They were always clashing because they were often on opposite sides politically. Edison was always trying to help her, but she didn’t want his help. He endured a lot of crap from her. Why was he so into her when it was clear that she didn’t really like him like that

He’s always an alpha male, he always tried to help Olivia if he could sense she was in trouble, but she never wanted his help .. he’s so annoying sometimes though 😆

He’s a good guy, but Olivia just didn’t like him at all.

Real life repeating the show

I’ve been reading so many reports about people in the south voting blue and checking their ballots before turning them in and seeing that the Republican candidate was written in, and I’m like “I KNOW WHAT HAPPENS…the entire plot of Scandal S2 was literally over this” after seeing how they did it, I’m not even surprised they’d try in real life…why can’t a Republican president actually care about the people the way fitz did…anyways, vote during early voting if you haven’t yet

Does anyone here genuinely like Fitz? 😭

Post image
482 Upvotes

I’m a first time watcher of Scandal, currently on Season 3, Episode 9, and I genuinely cannot stand this man.

The way Fitz treats both Mellie and Olivia is so irritating to watch. He’s selfish, entitled, and constantly makes everything about himself. And don’t even get me started on his presidency because I swear everybody around him does the actual work while he creates problems they have to clean up.

What bothers me the most is how he treats Mellie. I didn’t particularly like her at first, but the more I learn about her and everything she’s been through, the more sympathy I have for her. I genuinely want that woman to leave him and find some happiness.

And Olivia??? GIRL, STAND UP. 😭 She’s such an intelligent, powerful woman, but whenever Fitz comes around, it’s like all her common sense disappears. I genuinely don’t understand what she sees in him besides his position and power.

I know the show wants us to root for their love story, but I find myself getting irritated every time they’re on screen together.

And I really hope this isn’t another Derek Shepherd situation where people overlook a character’s behavior simply because they find the actor attractive. 😭 Like, I can acknowledge that Tony Goldwyn is handsome without pretending Fitz is some amazing man.

So I’m genuinely curious, does anyone actually like Fitz? And if you do, WHY? Because I’m struggling to find a single redeeming quality about this man.

Please no spoilers past Season 3, Episode 9!

Insanity masked as "frontal lobe development" on this board....

I can be extremely non-yielding, in the sense that if I think someone is wrong, they will never win the argument with me. On the other hand, there are lines that should not be crossed, and when it is, I have to call it out. The reason why I went private is because a mentally ill poster made 3-4 different accounts to harrass me because I did not substantiate their POV. This was a year and a half ago.

Yesterday a poster with a lot of words but little sense actually told me to verify my belief that it is widely known that Fitz and Olivia had better sexual chemistry than Jake and Olivia, regardless of the story. When I told them I am perhaps not the best person to take that approach with, since I have dedicated my entire academic career to statistics, they went off on an tangent about alternative facts/Trump and then tried to define objectivity and subjective to me. Mind you they appeared to mix up the actual actor's chemistry, which is the real chemistry and the story. When I realized they were not worth my time, I rightfully blocked them.

Here is where the deranged part comes in. The person actually used another acount to CONTINUE to blather on. That is after being blocked, they either made another account, or revealed themselves to have multiple accounts. Mind you, their comment was filtered out because they were in fact deranged. Why? Why not be normal and argue the ideas, and not expose your poorly adjusted psyche? I really do not understand it, and it makes me wonder if the average poster is actually fully developed in their frontal love as they claim to be. "Oh I no longer ship Olitz, because I am over 25 and realize cheating is wrong," and meanwhile people do this....

Above is their real account and below is the account they either made after being blocked, or signed into after being blocked.

Season Discussion Episode 1 of Season 5 and I’m already irritated

I’m finally on season 5 of scandal and I can’t be the only one bothered by how Fitz is acting towards Mellie over those jurors? Can’t say I feel bad for Cyrus getting fired because let’s be honest, his karma was a long time coming. But Fitz has a PLETHORA of inexcusable situations yet somehow is acting as if Mellie should be stoned…. I wish Olitz was more enjoyable to me but my god Fitz is definitely something. Overall I feel like this season along with the last two is going to piss me off a lottttt
