Good day Salone. I have built this app www.dyne.menu. Its an app where you can generate a digital menu and can print as well. So no hassle for you if you always have changes on your menu, unavailability or shortage from your kitchen, etc. It has also a kitchen display system for easy workflow. I will give free access for 1year for the 1st five people who are interested to use the app on their business. No commitment, no contract. Just use the contact info on the website. Cheers!

I saw this news article, and it's truly sad. The lack of knowledge, combined with the obvious hardships these people face on a daily basis, has forced them to resort to such measures. Unfortunately, sand taken directly from the beach is neither suitable nor safe for building and construction purposes.

Una Kushe!!
So I'm an engineer in Freetown, and I keep asking myself this question, so I wanted to ask all of you.
Mine: waste management along our coast. I've seen how plastic and drainage problems pile up in coastal communities, and how much it affects health, flooding, and livelihoods. A proper system for collecting, sorting, and recycling would change a lot.
Drop your idea, and tell us:
What you'd build or fix
Where (your town or neighborhood)
Where are you now? (Salone or abroad)
Note: Diaspora and home-based folks, I'd love to see who is thinking about the same things. Maybe some of these ideas can turn into real conversations and real projects. 🇸🇱
Una tell me wetin una go do! 👇

Most Sierra Leoneans online only use social media sites from Meta( Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram). I was surprised to find this community here. Like you hardly see us engaging in global conversations on other platforms like X, discord etc

Sierra Leone is a country in West Africa that gained independence from the United Kingdom on April 27, 1961. Its capital and largest city is Freetown, founded in 1787 as a settlement for freed Black people. The country’s name means “Lion Mountains,” inspired by its mountainous coastline. Sierra Leone is known for its rich cultural diversity, natural resources, and beautiful beaches. Its national flag features three horizontal stripes: green, white, and blue, representing agriculture and natural resources, unity and justice, and the sea and Freetown’s natural harbor.

I don't usually come on here to say this, but today it feels heavy on my heart. As a Straight Sierra Leonean woman, it really disgusts me how homophobic our country is and West Africa in general (I was also seeing hateful comments from other West Africans)
I honestly don’t understand why some people get so offended by (LGBTQ+) people. Truly why does two consenting adults living their honest life bother us much? How does their existence make us so uncomfortable that we feel the need to throw slurs, make hateful comments, or even go as far as murder? Homophobia should never be tolerated. Not the insults, not the “jokes,” not the violence , nothing.
People are losing their lives because of pure hatred. We have become so hateful, it’s disgusting. And it’s crazy because thousands of Sierra Leoneans are struggling with poverty, hunger, unemployment, failing education system every day yet somehow LGBtQ people are constantly treated as if they are our biggest problem. We are focused on the wrong thing. We need to do better.
