Help Size 5 Basketball
Hey! Does anyone happen to have an extra youth basketball laying around? Size 5. I'm volunteer coaching a youth team & seems one student doesn't have one. Would like for him to be able to have one for practice.

Help Fashionable Men's Glasses?
I've had enough of shitty Costco frames in boring selections. I want to go somewhere that I can look at cool and even off the wall glasses while talking to a real optician about what will work with my complicated bifocals astigmatism prescription. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Rants & Raves Findlay Toyota dealership
My son recently had a horrible experience and just letting others know.
My son recently applied there and walked in to check on the application. The receptionist was great and friendly. No complaints on them.
My son introduced himself, and was advised to go speak to a salesman. When my son walked over, he wasn’t even greeted or acknowledged. The salesman only said “Come back Thursday and MAYBE we will consider interviewing you. And never walk into a place you just applied to.”
At a time when others are having difficulties finding jobs, this is an attitude no one needs. I think the individual should be appreciative that others are willing to show face and not just apply and forget.
I hope the individual who did this has the day he deserves.

Politics Opposition to Spokane Public School Levy
Russel Neff joined Donuts for Democracy to represent the Opposition to the Spokane Public School Levy
At a time when the cost of food, fuel, utilities and most goods are increasing at unprecedented rates Russel Neff has the courage to stand up in opposition to the public school levy.
His argument is simple. 97% of this money has not gone to the kids, it has gone to increased wages and benefits and now simply is not the time to ask the people of Spokane for the maximum allowable tax and there are other means of funding the same programs that supporters of the tax claim will need to be cut.

Question Spokane rejecting red-light camera non-responsibility declarations for not identifying the driver?
I recently received a red-light camera ticket for my vehicle. I wasn’t driving, so I completed Spokane’s official Declaration of Non-Responsibility, checked the box indicating that the vehicle was in another person’s care, custody, or control, and signed it under penalty of perjury.
I mailed it October 6, well before the November 2 deadline.
Today (October 27), I received a rejection letter dated October 15 stating:
“DRIVER FULL NAME AND ADDRESS MISSING OR INCOMPLETE”
Here’s the problem.
Spokane’s own declaration form explicitly states:
“The statement above rebuts the presumption of liability. You may also provide the following information to confirm non-responsibility…”
It then provides spaces for the other driver’s name and address.
MAY ALSO. Not MUST.
Furthermore, RCW 46.63.075(2) allows registered owners to rebut the presumption of responsibility by stating under oath that the vehicle was in someone else’s care, custody, or control. The statute does not require identifying that person.
So why is Spokane’s photo-enforcement processing company rejecting declarations for failing to provide information that both the statute and its own form appear to make optional?
And why did it take 12 days for the rejection letter to reach me, leaving just six days before the original deadline?
I’m calling Spokane Municipal Court tomorrow to challenge the rejection.
In the meantime, I’m curious:
Has anyone else had a Declaration of Non-Responsibility rejected for refusing to identify the driver?
Is this a routine practice, or did I just get unlucky?
Because requiring information that the law doesn’t require, then delaying notification until the deadline is approaching, seems like a pretty effective way to discourage people from exercising their rights.

Question Can I Meet Your Nova Scotia Duck Toller?
I've been very interested in getting a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever because they check a lot of boxes for me when it comes to what I'm looking for in a dog. That being said, I've only been able to read about them and watch videos online and I've never actually met one. Before I pay a lot of money and invest time into a puppy, I'd like to meet one and hear about an owner's experience.
Does anyone have an NSDT in Spokane they'd be willing to let me meet? Please comment or DM :^)

I’m waiting to find out where this was installed and the map doesn’t seem to be updated on SpokaneArts.org, so I thought I’d see if anybody recognizes this corner.

ToDo Synthesizer open mic
There is a free Synthesizer and electronic music open mic in Brownes addition at Pacific Pizza every first Wednesday of the month. It's called SQUARE WAVE WEDNESDAY. You can bring synths and drum machines, or a laptop and a controller, or an old modded out Atari and plug in and play 10-15 minutes of music in front of people. Do what you're doing in your basement, but actually show people. Sign up starts at 6 and music starts at 7. It's free, and all ages until 10 pm.
Everyone is really encouraging, open, and nice. People are just stoked to see how everyone does electronic music. It's not genre specific, it's just a format, so you can bring anything you want to play.
If you do electronic music, but are scared to try, at least come and check it out and see what the vibe is. People are really friendly. It's a hyper focus and there is definitely some crossover with autism in this interest so if you have any questions be prepared for THOROUGH answers.
The next two are on November 4th and December 2nd. Come check it out. Cool place to meet people.

News Data Center - 4 Hours to submit public comment - Airway Heights is changing its zoning and environmental review rules 🚨
Filing: https://apps.ecology.wa.gov/separ/Main/SEPA/Record.aspx?SEPANumber=202604335
Public comments due TODAY, October 27, by 4 PM.
🚨 Please attend planning commission meeting tomorrow via zoom or in person @ 6PM (see comments for details - you do not need to be a citizen of Airway Heights) 🚨
Email: [zbecker@cawh.org](mailto:zbecker@cawh.org), [planninginfo@cawh.org](mailto:planninginfo@cawh.org), [erosepa@ecy.wa.gov](mailto:erosepa@ecy.wa.gov), [sepahelp@ecy.wa.gov](mailto:sepahelp@ecy.wa.gov), [reviewteam@commerce.wa.gov](mailto:reviewteam@commerce.wa.gov)
- Potential 60-day notice violation: WAC 197-11-800 requires 60 days' advance notice before adopting expanded SEPA exemptions. The filing was issued October 13, with comments closing October 27
- More projects could bypass environmental review: Exemption thresholds for qualifying commercial, service, and storage buildings increase from 12,000 to 30,000 sq. ft. Supporting data center facilities could potentially qualify, avoiding individual SEPA checklists and public environmental review.
- Data centers could receive administrative approval: The proposed zoning matrix doesn't explicitly classify data centers. Officials can classify unlisted uses based on similar permitted uses. Research and development and warehousing are permitted outright in industrial zones, potentially allowing qualifying facilities without conditional-use hearings.
- Less oversight of electrical infrastructure: Proposed AHMC 14.01.240 implements a state law preventing the city from requiring utilities to demonstrate the necessity of new electrical transmission and distribution projects.
- Environmental impacts deferred: The checklist repeatedly pushes water consumption, electricity demand, and pollution concerns to future reviews, even while expanding exemptions that could eliminate some of those reviews.
- PFAS contamination overlooked: The checklist marks existing contamination "N/A" despite documented groundwater contamination in Airway Heights.

ToDo Halloween ideas?
I don’t super love going to bars alone and I unfortunately have found myself in the predicament of having Halloween off and not one person to spend it with. I won’t get trick or treaters or I’d just dress up and enjoy that. Any ideas for stuff to do that day and maybe night as a childless and solo mid 20s gal? I might just have to accept my day will be binging Halloween movies and making something to eat which is fine, but I wouldn’t mind not being a total loner the entire day. I’m cool with family events, I just don’t want to be going to something way more catered for kids and being super weird for not having any lol.

News Judge rules in favor of Harley Douglass in inheritance fight. Finds the two other siblings financially exploited Harlan Douglass into changing his will. State law forbids anyone found to have exploited a vulnerable adult from inheritance. They will now get nothing instead of the original 1/3 each.

Please drop of your ballots at drop boxes only. DO NOT MAIL BACK. At this point its too late. The MAGA Post Office will not be able to process it in time most likely. Thank you.
Question Free things to do during week days?
Well- I've recently found myself on the receiving end of quite a bit of free time. While a lot of it will be going towards fixing my brain I find myself anxious at the prospect of not knowing what each day will look like for the next few months.
I've looked at the library schedules for activities, bookmarked art exhibits/galleries/museums, & decided to reorganize my living space but wanted to see if anyone had any ideas of places I could find free Mon-Fri (like 8am-3pm type) activities or if you knew of any to fill the void.
Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

Question Lunch Suggestions for 70-year olds?
My mom and her siblings go out twice a month for lunch on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays. It's their time to connect. Each time, a different sibling picks the place.
This is how my mom has broken down past excursions:
• Aunt 1 picks places that feel like truck stops
• Aunt 2 picks independent local joints
• Uncle 1 picks Arby's in the valley
• Uncle 2 does Applebee's, Red Robin, and similar places
• My mom doesn't really go out much so she just suggests Arby's as well - but somehow I convinced her to take them to Fergusons, the Milk Bottle, Pete's Pizza, and some other local restaurants she associates with my dad.
They are in their 70's and realize "eventually one will pass. Then the next, and so on." So the outing is more important than the place - but they have all lived here their entire lives, living simply, and it's nice that they see new places.
Here are their simple guidelines:
• They are simple - burger and fries, burritos, etc.
• They want to keep it to roughly $15ish per person.
• They prefer places where they can hear each other talk.
• There are about 7 of them after you add their partners.
Other notes:
• I want to help them find places with a vibe
• They do not drink alcohol in any form
Any suggestions?!
Thanks in advance!
EDITS:
- I should mention they are aiming for restaurants over cafes or other spaces.
- they live in Hillyard, the valley, and West Central (if this helps!)
- Truly thank you to everyone throwing suggestions! I truly appreciate it!!!

ToDo Valley Lunch Date Ideas
Going to be in town with my wife for an appointment early afternoon and looking for some lunch date ideas with my wife. Will have our youngest with us (1 y/o, 25% of our kids). Not unfamiliar with the area, but it’s been a while with some free almost one on one time with my wife (see previous sentence). Figured I’d check for some good casual lunch date ideas in the valley area and try to be a halfway decent spouse.
