Update: Adoption pending

They spent 16 hours in a box together. Now they’re waiting for a home together. ❤️

Petfinder: https://www.petfinder.com/cat/remy-and-rosita-are-waiting-for-you-17e40a4c-9894-4a51-821c-dd653b66bdb8/nc/charlotte/sunkissed-acres-rescue-nc1270/details/

Meet Roshita and Remy…two little girls who aren’t biological sisters but have become each other’s family.

Roshita is 11 weeks old, and Remy is 9 weeks old. Remy is the talkative little one, always ready to tell you something. Wherever one girl is, the other is never far away. They’ve already lost a home once. We don’t want them to lose each other, too.

Someone packed these babies into a cardboard box and left them outside the rescue’s home. We checked the camera footage: they were dropped off around 10 p.m., and the dog didn’t sniff them out until around 2 p.m. the next day.

For about 16 hours, these tiny babies sat inside that box. There were other packages outside, and nobody knew they were there.

Roshita was barely breathing when they were found.

Once, they went to separate foster homes, and both stopped eating. We thought they might be sick, but everything checked out normally. On the third day, we brought them back together…and they started eating and playing again. Seeing how much they needed each other surprised us. It wasn’t just Roshita missing Remy. Remy was missing her just as much.

That’s why I’m trying so hard to find them a home together. My heart aches at the thought of separating them after seeing what happened. They feel safe with each other.

Now these little girls are ready to grow up in someone’s home…to follow you around, interrupt your day with kitten business, and fall asleep knowing they belong.

We thought they had found that home. We held them for a prospective adopter for a month and stopped posting them, but pickup has been postponed repeatedly. Now their foster mom is leaving, and they still have nowhere to go.

My house is dealing with a herpesvirus outbreak, another foster home is caring for kittens with FIP, and all our other foster homes are full. We need to keep these healthy girls somewhere safe.

They don’t know about postponed pickups or full foster homes. They’re just two babies who have each other…and so much life ahead of them.

Both girls are spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and combo-tested negative.

❤️ Adoption fee: $250 for both

Adoption application and agreement required

Success! DIY - 5 iterations later, I finally built a truly raccoon-proof stray cat feeder

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been feeding a few stray cats in my neighborhood for years—providing clean water, food, treats, and heated shelters for the winter.

However, my biggest challenge has been local wildlife stealing the food. The primary culprits are some very chubby, extremely clever raccoons who made it their life mission to defeat every feeder I built.

After a lot of trial and error, I finally have a setup that works 100%. Here is the progression of my builds and how I got here:

The Failed Prototypes

Attempt 1: App-Controlled Automatic Feeder
Setup: Petlibro locking automatic feeder paired with a security camera for motion alerts so I could unlock it remotely via app when a cat arrived.

Result: Worked for exactly 1 day until the raccoons realized they could brute-force the door open.

Attempt 2: Adding a Remote Water Sprayer
Setup: Added a remote-triggered water sprayer near the feeder to blast the raccoons when they approached.

Result: Worked for a week. Then the raccoons figured out the spray angle, dodged the water, and dragged the entire feeder away. (Dammit!)

Attempt 3: Cinder Block Bunker
Setup: Anchored the feeder inside a cinder block base so it couldn't be moved or tipped over.

Result: Stopped them from dragging it, but required me to constantly monitor live video to trigger the water sprayer. If I missed a notification, they still broke into the hopper and stole the food.

Attempt 4: Slide-Out Drawer Feeder + SwitchBot
Setup: Switched to a feeder with a slide-out tray (keeping food completely enclosed until open) shielded by cinder blocks. Because it required two manual button pushes on top to unlock and open, I mounted two SwitchBot Bots running a custom scene in the app to automate the sequence when I saw a cat on camera.

Result: Huge success! I was able to remove the water sprayer completely, and it kept raccoons out for weeks. Unfortunately, the internal feeder motor eventually broke. Replacing it would cost $90, so I decided to build a more permanent, heavy-duty version.

🏆 Attempt 5: The Winning Raccoon-Proof Setup (Current Build)

For this build, I wanted something completely indestructible that didn't rely on plastic cat feeder mechanisms:

  1. The Enclosure: I took a heavy-duty plastic milk crate and backed it up flush against a large planter so the rear couldn't be accessed. I weighted down the top and sides with cinder blocks to prevent it from moving or being breached.

  2. The Door: Using an oscillating multi-tool, I cut an opening in the front of the crate and installed a weatherproof metal automatic chicken coop door. The vertical sliding metal door is designed to keep out foxes and raccoons, making it impossible for them to pry open.

  3. The Automation: I attached SwitchBot Bots to the door's remote/control panel to trigger the door to slide open and closed remotely via app whenever a cat comes to eat.

  4. Inside: The cat food sits in an elevated bowl inside the crate, giving cats easy access to lean in while keeping the food protected from the elements.

Results - Zero raccoons have been able to breach or pry open this door. The metal door panel and solid crate framing completely eliminate any leverage they used to rely on.

Hopefully, this design helps anyone else dealing with persistent trash pandas while trying to care for local kitties in need.

Colony/TNR Help (Location) Can anyone help with kitten milk, babycat wet food and some dry food? PH

‎Hi everyone.. I currently have 4 kittens in my care aside from over 80 cats I am feeding everyday. The younger 2 kittens are purely on milk while the other 2 can already eat wet food but still ask for milk everyday.. Milk costs $32 per can and lasts them a week. The cats' weekly expenses alone are around $210, and gets higher whenever I have kittens to bottle-feed. I also care for rescued dogs, so my actual weekly expenses are much more than this.

‎Every dollar and every peso you donate means so much to me and the animals. Without your help, I would be drowning in debt trying to cover everything on my own. I can’t thank you all enough for helping me keep them fed and cared for.

‎Thank you for being part of their lives and for making this a little easier for me. I appreciate every single one of you more than u know❤

Injured/Sick Cat (Location) Two babies abandoned or left vulnerable because of FIP. 💔 Silly is fighting wet FIP, and Sia is fighting dry FIP. Latika is finally showing us hope, with almost 80% of her fluid gone. ❤️ Please help us give Silly and Sia the same chance to fight. They deserve to live, not to be abandoned.

💔 ABANDONED BECAUSE OF FIP… BUT THEY STILL DESERVE A CHANCE TO LIVE.
Two more innocent babies have entered our shelter, both fighting FIP, and both desperately need your help. 💔
One of them was abandoned simply because she was suffering from FIP. Imagine being so sick, so helpless, and then being left behind when you need love and care the most. 💔 No baby deserves to be punished for becoming ill.
Silly is battling wet FIP, and Sia is fighting dry FIP. Both need treatment, medication, and your support to continue their fight for life. We cannot do this alone. 🙏
And then there is our beautiful Latika, rescued from another city while suffering from wet FIP. Today, we have a reason to smile through our tears. ❤️ Almost** 80% of her abdominal fluid is gone**! She is responding so well, and every little improvement reminds us why we must never give up on these precious lives. 🥹❤️
Latika’s progress gives us hope for Silly and Sia, too. But hope needs support, and their treatment cannot wait.

Please help us save Silly and Sia. Every life matters. Every donation matters. 🙏💔

I Found a Cat (Location) Advice for finding a stray a home

Firestone Park, Akron, Ohio, USA
I am looking for someone or a facility to take in this sweet girl, Honey. She’s a stray that I have been seeing around my home.(outskirts of firestone park)

Honey is so very sweet and has so much energy. I would take her in but I am moving in a month and I already have a cat, who’s reactive😓 so there’s no way I could take her in. There wouldn’t be an issue for me to grab her in because she really is the sweetest thing ever.🥺
She drools when she gets a lot of attention and loves to sunbathe with me on my porch. 🥰 As far as i’m aware she’s not fixed but she is a SHE. I’d love for her to find a home and not be placed in a shelter..

I know asking someone to take in a cat that may need medical attention is a lot but it breaks my heart to think of leaving her when she’s so innocent and loving.

I have no other friends/coworkers that could take her in so I’m reaching out in hopes someone can help her. Please comment if you know some options.

Colony/TNR Help (Location) How Can I Safely Trap Two Feral Cats for Spaying?

I Need Advice on Trapping Two Feral Cats for Spaying

I feed two female stray cats at the same location every evening, but they are extremely difficult to catch. They are very wary of people and won't let anyone get close to them.

I really want to get them spayed because they keep having kittens, and I want to prevent more unwanted litters.

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? Do you have any advice on how I can safely catch them so I can take them to the vet for spaying?

I would really appreciate any tips or advice. Thank you so much for helping me help these cats!
