Hi, my work is launching a new Japan mystery box. The first box is launching in November and based on what people think the products inside will change. We're looking for genuine feedback on the box at launch and any ideas on how to improve our marketing. This is the first time we've done something like this and we want to sell things people actually like. This first boxes items are already bought, but box 2 onwards will be based on demand and interest.
Productive feedback is appreciated!

I've been mulling over the idea of a subscription box actually. The concept of putting a few things together in a box with a theme is fairly straightforward, but when you start to think about where you'd get the goods from, how you'd package them and how you'd get them out to customers on a regular basis it's not quite as simple.
I'm trying to work out whether it's better to source the products individually from various suppliers or whether it's better to find a wholesaler who can supply the majority of what I need. Packaging is another issue I'm not entirely clear on, particularly how to get the box to look decent without going too far with the cost on each individual consignment.
For anyone who's ever launched a subscription box or a similar type of product bundle, how did you go about it? Did you start off with a small batch to test the waters? How did you work out your costs prior to taking any orders?
What would you recommend we focus on first to get a subscription box off the ground?

I spent 45 minutes last week trying to cancel a $4.99 subscription. I honestly didn't expect it to take that long.
I couldn't even find the cancellation page at first, and then someone in the chat kept trying to convince me to stay. I had to say no a few times before they finally let me cancel. It's $60 a year, so I guess it was worth doing.
I've had the same issue with food subscription boxes, especially when the next box is already on its way. I've put off canceling a few before and ended up paying for another month.
Recently, I've started looking into ways to send cancellation requests without having to deal with every company separately. It might save me some time since I still have a couple of boxes I keep meaning to cancel.
Have you ever kept paying for a subscription box just because canceling it was such a hassle?

I received my Daily Look box a few days ago but my account says that they are still preparing the box for shipment. Because if this I can’t see how much anything costs or mark items for return. Im tempted to just sit on it and see what happens but I’m also worried that I’ll get charged for a whole box! I sent them an email and got an almost immediate response saying that they are experiencing shipping delays and that my box will be shipped soon, which is clearly not the issue I emailed about. The email was also to cover my ass with a paper trail in case they try to charge me for a delayed return.
Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice on what to do?
Sorry if this isn’t the right sub for this question, I have no idea where or who to even ask about this.

I had a few unopened book boxes sitting on my shelf and realized I could not even remember when I last used anything from them. I went back to check and found out the subscription was still charging me $28 on the 14th every week.
I signed up for it last year and genuinely enjoyed the last couple of boxes, but after that life got busy and they just kept piling up. By the I added it up, I had paid for around six months without really using it. That is close to $170 spent on boxes I had barely touched. I checked my other subscriptions after that and found two more recurring charges I had forgotten about.
Cancelling them was a pain too. Every service has its own process, so I had to spend time finding the right account page and figuring out how to stop each renewal.
For people here with multiple boxes, how do you keep track of renewal dates? Do you check your bank account, use calendar, or just notice what the next box turns up?

I know that the HIIT box was a scam (I know, I got ripped off by it), but I'm insanely curious as to what happened to that company. Did they go bankrupt? Did the scammers get arrested? All I know is that they don't exist anymore.

I used to select whether to keep a subscription box based primarily on how much I like the most recent box. Now I give myself some time to see if I am actually using the items I received.
I once had a package that I enjoyed unwrapping and thought was a fantastic value but a few weeks later numerous products remained untouched. By the time the next payment was due I realized I was paying more for the pleasure of receiving the box than for the items I used.
Now I keep track of the price, billing cycle, renewal date, and roughly how much of each box I use. A few days before renewal, I check those details together and decide whether I want another box. It’s also helped me avoid forgetting about smaller subscriptions just because each individual payment doesn’t seem like much.
I still enjoy trying new boxes but I have found that looking at the whole subscription over a few months gives me a much better idea of whether it is actually worth keeping.

I built PagePals - a monthly subscription (currently US only) where you’re matched with another reader who is the most likely to have a good book recommendation based on your reading preferences. They pick a book from their shelf based on your taste. You send one you’ve read and would recommend to someone based on their taste. Labels and shipping are included so no per-shipment postage payments.
The first month is free with code firstmonthfree if you actually want to try it and get a free book.
Questions I’d love feedback on:
• Does the concept make sense, or does it sound like “another book subscription box”?
• Would you trust receiving a book from a matched stranger vs. browsing a site yourself?
• Is ~$12/mo reasonable for matched curation and shipping costs included?
Happy to answer anything about how pairing works, etc. Hoping to get reader opinions!

Hi! I'm looking for a box that gives out crystals, knick nacks/trinkets. Any ideas?
I currently subscribe to the Wee Box from Scotland.
I'm into:
Outlander/Scotland
Vintage/granny core
Cottage core
Oddities (skulls, bones)
Plants!

I’ve always loved the idea of subscription boxes, but I wanted to make something that didn't involve sending a box of random products every month.
So I created Dear Little Thing, a children's snail-mail subscription where the "box" is actually a little envelope arriving through the letterbox.
Each month, children receive a letter from Prickly the Hedgehog, a woodland-themed art print, activities and little surprises.
I'm trying to make it feel genuinely personal and collectible rather than like a children's marketing subscription. The characters and stories develop over time, and each month's mail is designed to feel like a tiny adventure waiting in the letterbox.
It's currently £14.99/month and I'm a very small independent creator making everything myself.
I'd love to hear from other subscription-box people: what makes you keep a subscription rather than cancelling after a couple of months? I'm especially interested in what makes the experience feel worth it beyond simply receiving "stuff."

Does anyone have any recommendations for subscription boxes to spice things up in the bedroom. We already do the dom sub dynamic to an extent if that helps.
