What is the overall school atmosphere and culture like?

Is the environment overly competitive, or do students support each other?

I heard working as an EMT/CNA is really good for med school apps for clinical exposure, does anybody know if UNT the general area has places I could train to become an EMT/CNA?

Hi TAMS, a mom here. I am an alum of the Arkansas Math and Science school of the 90s but resident of Texas now. TBD if my kid (12) is TAMS bound but I would love to help him begin building the skills and experiences if he wants to. What made a difference for y’all?

I’m looking for recommendations for awesome camps, extracurricular programs, community programs, summer sleep away camps/programs??? We’re a big STEM family already but haven’t gotten too much into robotics yet and my guy is into math and engineering. We want him to have as much opportunity as possible to find what he loves.

i did my applytexas application and then got my email to activate unt student portal acc

i enter my name and dob and i go to the next page but when i put in my ssn it says "Information doesn't match records"

I emailed some people but they take forever and I was wondering if other people had the same issue/ any knowledge of what might be causing this

it says that secondary application materials like sat, recommendaton, transcript would nbe released on the 18th but it isnt there for me. is it there for any of yall

I recently got admitted as part of the TAMS class of 2029 and I just got my interview for ESR with Dr. Sage Hall. I tried searching him up, but I couldn't find any results on him. I have heard that he is a well-known theoretical physics professor turned scholarship and research dean for TAMS and UNT Honors College and I just wanted to ask a couple things regarding ESR:

1. I am 12 years old, turning 13 soon. I am not sure if this will affect Dr. Hall's perspective of me in any way. Does age affect ESR interviews?

2. Where is the interview? Is it in the Duban Building? I can't seem to find such a building on both Google Maps and UNT's official list of academic buildings.

3. Is there anything he does in the interview that I should be aware of?

4. I seek to go into pre-med, so most of my research would be biology related. How are lab opportunities in the field?

Hi I wanted to stay at UNT after tams and I was told that tams students can receive close to a full ride for there last two years at UNT so does anyone have info on these scholarships? How can I get a really good scholarship that covers a lot to UNT?

Hey, I’m an incoming junior at TAMS and had a few questions if any seniors could answer:

1. I got placed into Honors Chemistry with Dr. Acree. How difficult is it compared to AP Chem?

2. Is there a limit on how many clubs you can join?

3. What do people usually do on weekends? Are there TAMS events/activities, or is it mostly unstructured free time?

I also applied for the named scholarships back in May. Has anyone heard anything about those yet?

I know we have curfew, and i saw the other reddit post asking about what time we can get up, though my question is whether or not we can't leave the building at a certain time in the morning. For context, although I am NOT a morning person, I find I am most productive getting an early start to the day and I could see myself wanting to leave the building in the mornings around 5:30-6:00 AM. Do yall think it'd be allowed...?

Hi! I am interested in going here, but I want to graduate in two years after high school without having to retake all my credits. I also want to keep my options open and not limiting myself to only UNT to get my bachelor’s only

If I am a senior at TAMS, will UT Austin accept my credits? I would have around 2 years of undergraduate coursework, so would it be possible to graduate in 2 years at UT?

I know there is no rush, but money is a big concern for my family so I just want to save.

How hard is TAMS Physics? I am worried I will get a B taking Barr's class, and I have the option of not taking Physics at all, too.

Is anyone not planning to go but hasn't let TAMS know yet?

You shouldn't really worry about your classes too too much. As long as you pay attention, don't skip, and know when to lock in, you'll be ok.

Let's say, theoretically, someone makes internationals for an olympiad (IMO, IPhO, IBO, IOI, IOAA, etc...) and the dates overlap with classes. Can they still attend even if the competition is over the total number of leaves they have for the semester? Or does TAMS restrict it?

Hello, I have a question, after taking AP Precalculus in high school I have subsequently been placed in precalculus for my first semester at TAMS, after reading emails and general FAQ regarding AP scores on the TAMS website it appears a 5 on the AP Precalculus exam will not be considered at all to move up my math placement. I would just like to confirm if this is true, and if so is there any other way I could accelerate my math learning as I was hoping to acquire knowledge beyond math 1720 at TAMS. I am currently on the general math and science track and an incoming junior.
