Other My trip in Thailand has been nothing but greatness. Thank you Thailand.

As my wife and I are finishing up our last day here in bangkok, (we leave tomorrow) it really has shown me a lot of things I never really thought of before.

We spent 10 days here and had a blast. We ate a lot of good food, visited many temples, taken tuktuks, bought some Thai gold, spent a LOT of time walking/shopping the local shops etc, and it has been wonderful.

We spent 5 days down in Phuket and albeit more expensive it was also such a good time. Went and spent some time at Phi Phi Islands, etc.

As we head back to the US tomorrow, I’m taking back quite a few thoughts with me.

First off, it is crazy how insanely nice and welcoming Thai people are, it is SO refreshing from what we deal with in the US.

Seeing the way this country functions truly is beautiful in its own regard however it shows me that I have way more to be grateful for at home, and that maybe I don’t have it as bad as I think I do.

It was an absolute honor to spend 10 days here with the wifey, and I cannot wait to come back. What a beautiful beautiful country this is. Blessed to have the opportunity to come here for vacation. I hope tipping taxi/grab drivers helped out. I am happy to throw them some extra baht I have since my trip is ending.

I see why everyone loves it so much now. Will definitely make it a goal to come back in the future.

Bangkok/Middle 3 months in Thailand. Final attraction: Clinic for dog bite shots

At my resort dogs left me alone until last day when I did something unusual, I approached staff members to ask about my checkout and their yards dogs instantly attacked my leg.

Small but bloody wounds and hospital bill of 7884 THB.

Got the cocktail of shots and antibiotics. I need to continue booster injections back at home.

Well, I suppose better than risking rabies. I hope your last holidays days are better.

Other It's been a year since I visited Thailand, and I still miss it 💔

We visited Thailand in November last year, and damn, I still miss that place so much. I don't think I've ever visited somewhere that left me with this much positivity even after a whole year.

The people, the vibe, the cities, the food, the overall atmosphere… everything was just amazing. One of my favorite memories is our stay at Phi Phi Island. Such a beautiful, peaceful place with crystal-clear blue water views. Just being there, surrounded by that scenery, felt unreal.

The only regret is that we didn't have enough time. We were rushing around and couldn't experience Thailand the way I wish we had.

Honestly, I feel like everyone should visit Thailand at least once in their life and spend at least two weeks there, taking things slow instead of rushing from one tourist spot to another. Explore the cities, stay by the beach, enjoy the food, watch the sunsets, and just soak in the atmosphere.

Sometimes you need a place like that to disconnect from your usual routine and reset your mind.

It's crazy how a trip can stay with you for so long. I really hope we get to go back someday and experience more of Thailand at a slower pace. ❤️

Anyone else feel this way about Thailand even long after coming back?

Borders/Visas Question- Multiple entries within a year

Hi! My sister and I are visiting our dad in Bangkok in December this year for about 3 weeks. After a week in Bangkok we were planning on flying to Vietnam for a week, then flying back and spending the last week here before flying back home to Finland.

Only problem is that we were already in Thailand in January this year and did the same thing last time, flew in from Finland and then flew to Vietnam and then flew in to Thailand again before flying back home.

Since the change in the visa exception scheme, we are limited to two entries per year which we have already used. Only thing I don't really understand is that some sources say the two entries per calendar year for visa exception is only for when arriving to Thailand by other means than air. Other sources say two entries is max for all means of entry. For example, UK gov site says flying is "generally exempt" from this two entries per calendar year limit. Thai embassy in Finland says its limited to two entries maximum for all transport. Of course I'm trusting the embassy site more but why is the UK gov site different? Entry requirements are the same for Finland and UK citizens as far as I know.

Also, if we are required to get a tourist visa, I wonder if we are allowed to leave the country for a week and come back. The multiple entry tourist visa is more expensive and the Thai embassy site says 6,000 euros are required to show proof of sufficient funds but we are just two students staying at our dad's house. The 10,000 or 20,000 baht for the normal entry is fine but 6k euros is pretty hard to come by.

Sorry if the answer to my question is obvious (go for the tourist visa and don't leave the country before your flight back home) but I just want to make sure since we really liked Vietnam the last time :)

Thanks in advance if you are able to help! Would love to hear your experiences with multiple entries to Thailand within a calendar year, did they care at the border or what happened?

TLDR Didn't realise the two entries per calendar year limit for visa exception scheme and booked flights for the same year we already visited "twice" in. Not sure if we need to get a Tourist visa or not? Finnish passport. Thanks for any help!

If you are looking to escape the noise and the traffic of Bangkok.
Go there and book an hotel by the river.

Other Kissing and touching the hotel staff is wild. Why do foreigners think every Thai woman is just easy?

Have stayed at grande central point T21 before and liked that but that is double the hoped budget!

Also suggestions for a Xmas day Christmas brunch and anything else ‘Christmassy’ that may be going on

Bangkok/Middle Bangkok Live Jazz Club/Bar Recommendations?

• Upvotes

Hey all,

I’m visiting Bangkok from December 5th till the 10th and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for Jazz bars/clubs.

I’m not so much interested in light listening loungy jazz. I’m more looking for 50s/60s jazz - hard bop/modal.

Bonus: If you have any recommendations for Jazz spots in Chiang Mai as well that would be very welcome 😁

TIA!

Other Foods to try in specific cities?

I will be going to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Ayutthaya, Khao Sok, and Krabi/Phuket. What foods are particularly better in each city?

So far the only specific dish I am 100% sure about is Khao Soi in Chiang Mai. Otherwise I have Sai Oua in Chiang Mai, and Moo Hong in Krabi. I also just have a general “seafood” for Krabi because I heard coastal cities have better seafood.

Beyond that, I have already collected a small list of foods to try but no specific city. I assume Bangkok is probably the answer for most of these, but I’m wondering if there’s better places to try it. I’ve got Tom Yom, Moo Krob, Pad Krapow, mango sticky rice, Moo Ping, Kanom Krok, Kanom Buang, Roti, and coconut milk. Are any of these best to try in a specific place? Are there others I’m missing?

How crowded does it get, is it worth a flight from Vietnam and adding time to my trip to come see? ( thinking I already Know the answer to the last question!😊)

Transport/Itineraries Spending Budget

Hey all,

Me and my wife will be going to Thailand in just three weeks from the UK.

We’ll be there for 2 weeks:

- Krabi 6 Days
- Chiang Mai 4 Days
- Bangkok 3 Days

We’ve set aside £1800 for spending - is this enough or do we need more?

Everything else like hotels and planned excursions have already been paid for, so now it’s just figuring out what the daily spend will be like.

Appreciate any advice!

Phuket/Krabi/South Solo want to do Khao sok early november

Hello

I’ll be in Bangkok from Nov 3 to Nov 12 and I’m thinking of flying to Surat Thani for a 3D2N Khao Sok tour.

I’m not really a fan of big group tours, and I found a private tour that looks really good. It includes Khao Sok National Park, Cheow Lan Lake, a night at a floating resort, private longtail boat, night & morning safari, rafting/tubing, meals, transfers, etc.

The price is around 15,000 THB per person if there are 2 people, and it gets cheaper per person if we have 3–4 people.

I’m traveling solo, so I thought I’d check if anyone will be in Thailand around the same dates and would be interested in joining and splitting the cost.

I’m flexible with the exact dates as long as it’s somewhere between Nov 4–12. Ideally looking for 1 - 3 other solo travelers.

If anyone is interested, send me a message and I can share the tour details/itinerary.

Bangkok/Middle Thailand for a month

Hello, my wife and I are planning a one-month trip in mid-January 2027 where we would work remotely for 2 weeks and take an additional two weeks of vacation for exploring. Currently, we have narrowed down the choice to Thailand and Sri Lanka, but are unsure where to go. Thus, we still do not have the detailed plan. We love nature and scenery, but also enjoy exploring populated cities. Both of these countries offer both and we would like to explore them but we need to carefully plan the trip because of our work obligations.

For one, we need to have a stable and reliable internet connection to be able to work remotely. Therefore, we assume, that staying in a bigger city/cities during the first two weeks would ensure we can function normally. Which country has the overall better internet connection? Is there any difference between hotels and Airbnbs? What to look for/be aware of when booking a place to stay? What to avoid? How would you plan 2 weeks of work + 2 weeks of vacation in these countries? What would you do for the first two weeks and what for the second two weeks?
Please feel free to share any insight, from what you would do to where you would go and stay. Switching cities in the first 2 weeks is an option, as long as it satisfies the internet connection prerequisite.

TLDR: We are planning two weeks of work + two weeks of vacation in Thailand or Sri Lanka. Looking for advice on how to organize the trip, where to go, and what to do. Good internet connection is a must for the first two weeks.

Chiang Mai/North Ideas for short term hostels/guest houses/communities, etc

Thailand has changed since I last came, but that’s to be expected because I came so long ago. Globalisation is really prevalent, and it reminds me of where I come from cause it’s feeling the heat along those lines too.

Q: what are some good places to get a little writing/work done but that are also social/good places to meet people. I want to stay put for a week or so. I keep getting different ideas of places (people will say certain cities and towns aren’t that great anymore, etc). I tried posting pretty much this same thing, but I didn’t get many responses.

Borders/Visas Third and possibly fourth entry to Thailand by air in 2026, any real experiences?

I'm an European and have already entered Thailand twice by air in 2026, staying a total of only around 30 days. No overstays or immigration issues.

My situation:

6 November: Arriving in Bangkok by air from India.

Before 5 December: Considering a short trip to Dhaka, Bangladesh, to leave Thailand within the initial 30-day visa exemption.

December: Possibly returning to Bangkok by air from Dhaka, which would be my fourth entry this year.

16 December: Flying home to Europe

I'm also considering skipping Dhaka and simply applying for a 30-day extension in Bangkok. However, I understand that I still need proof of onward travel within 30 days when entering Thailand.

I've read conflicting information about the new rules introduced on 15 September 2026. Some Thai embassies say only two visa-exempt entries per calendar year, while other official sources say the limit applies only to land borders.

My questions:

Has anyone personally entered Thailand by air for a third or fourth time in 2026, especially since 15 September?

Did immigration question you, give you a warning, or refuse entry?

Has anyone entered with an onward ticket within 30 days but a later flight home, intending to apply for an extension?

Would you recommend the Dhaka trip or simply applying for an extension in Thailand? I really want to fly to Dhaka.

I'm particularly interested in actual first-hand experiences, not interpretations of the rules, I can do that myselv.

Please reply here in the comments. No DMs, please. I don't read them.

Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Other Anyone here buy fragrances in Thailand and take them home in a carry on?

I bought three fragrances here on vacation and am worried about heading home with them to the USA tomorrow.

Anyone have any luck in here?

Am I overthinking it? All bottles are under 100ml/3.4oz.

Can I take them in my carry on? Or do I absolutely need to check a bag? We are flying starlux.
