Season 3 Nolan’s college professor is a moron.
I’m on the episode where she’s being stalked and I swear everything this woman does is self sabotage.
“Don’t search the potential stalkers camera”
Won’t accept help after her entire name phone number and home address are leaked because “I won’t show fear”
and then gets attacked because of her own pride.

Discussion If Nolan were to have a new Rookie which I assume he would what rookie would you like to see? Spoiler
So in term of how the character would be? Would they be Stubborn, reckless, stupid etc. what do you want to see happen to them? I would like to see either a washout or Nolan wash them out. Though I would like to see them wash out and see how it affects Nolan. Nolan likes to see the best of people so I can see this really affecting him.
I would like to see another TO though. I loved seeing Tim, Angela and Nyla/Talia all of them being able to work together as TO’s. So I would love to see a new good TO. Maybe a difficult rookie for Nolan but another good TO to bond with Nolan.

Season 3 Should I watch season 3?
I just finished season 2 and I can't believe any season will be better because its PEAK. but I've heard lots of negative things about s3 so I'm not sure if I should watch and apparently there's a documentary episode as well? Is there anything major I would miss if I skipped it, or should I just skim through it in case just in case? I'm still going to watch the last episode bc I read that it's got to do with the first episode of s4. (btw is there any chenford in s3 bc I love them to death and will watch anything to do with them lmao)
EDIT: thank you everyone ! I'm gonna watch s3 lol

Discussion Chris as a character Spoiler
Look, I get that most of this fandom is pro-chenford or whatever and we all hate Chris for humming the barrel song real shitty thing to do but also really out of character for him even if he didnt get as much screen time.
think about it, he was super sweet and supportive of Lucy going to undercover school he comforted her when she was slightly upset about him being attacked, and i dont remember the episode but didnt he say that if they moved in together that he'd have a room for Tamara? he knows how important she is to Lucy and i find that really sweet.
the writers did him dirty just to speed along getting chenford to be canon.
Im going to get jumped in the comments for this but i kinda wanted them to stay together/be end game. i am a chenford shipper myself and a huge fan of the grumpy x sunshine trope but i also would prefer seeing a sunshine x sunshine or moon x sun kind of dynamic instead.
Honestly? if Lucy doesn't want him I'll have him🤣

Season 3 Why are they so inconsistent with ages? Spoiler
Like in the first half of season one it was stated multiple times that john nolan was 40 years old as a rookie. Which fits because he said that he got his ex wife knocked up when he was a junior in college meaning he was 20-21.
And he waited until right after his son turned 18 and went off to college to become an officer which would put him at 39-40 when he decided to become a cop. And then 40-41 when the show started. So why the sudden jump to 45?
That and Jackson said that he was 26 when hewas talking to that 12 year old football star in season 1 or 2 but when he got jumped when he was with dougan Tim reported him as being 24.
Im only on season 3 btw

Discussion Does anyone else get the feeling that Lucy never actually had real feelings for anyone? Spoiler
Except for Tim.
I’m currently at the episode where Lucy has to give her statement regarding the collaboration between Rosalind and Caleb. Throughout that whole time, she’s angry with Chris, or annoyed, or dismissive. And I can’t help but think that if Tim were in Chris’s place, Lucy wouldn’t be acting like that. Lucy and Tim aren’t together at this point, but it really doesn’t feel like Lucy loves Chris at all, whereas if Tim were there, she’d be a lot kinder.
Even when I look back at Lucy’s other relationships, like the one with Nolan or the firefighter, it doesn’t feel like she ever truly loved any of them. It’s more like she was with them simply because she felt the need or desire to be dating someone. It’s as if those relationships were just placeholders to bridge the gap until Chenford could happen.

Discussion One big critique I have with the show Spoiler
They somehow arrest 99% of all the criminals without having to shoot them or tackle a criminal with a gun. It’s way past a realistic scenario. I’m watching season 7 episode 12 where Nolan and his rookie try to fight off the mob with batons instead of using their firearms for self defence or using something from their shop to disperse the mob.
Overall this type of Hollywood baloney makes it so criminals in real life think they can get away with more and won’t get immediately shot.

Discussion Who would kill to save their partner or family? Slight spoiler for season 5 Spoiler
I’m doing a rewatch and the episode where Rosalind traps Bailey and tell Nolan to kill her to save Bailey. But Nolan is unable to.
So if any of the main characters past and present had to do that. Would they kill for their partner and if they don’t have one. A mom, dad, sibling or child. Another cop doesn’t count (minus Tim and Lucy of course)
Some I wasn’t sure so if you can think of one by all means add it. Remember this is train going and cannot stop you must pull a lever to tell the train where to go.
Edit: I should have been more clear I guess I know Wesley and Elijah scenario but I did say I was doing a rewatch of a particular episode so I was just basing it off of that. A heat of the moment you only a few minutes or a couple hours to decide.
You can copy and paste and write yes or no or maybe?
The contenders
Tim to Lucy
Lucy to Tim
Wade to Luna
Angela to Wesley
Nyla to James
Celina to mom
Miles to someone
Past
Jackson to dad
Aaron to mom
Talia to one of the parents?
I’m only doing the cops but I’ll add them cause Wesley is main as well as Bailey
Wesley to Angela
James to Nyla
Bailey to Nolan

Season 8 Broken Screen =/= Broken Phone (S8E10) Spoiler
I recently rewatched "his name was Martin" (S8E10). It's an odd episode, sure, but a quite good one imho. One thing that caught my eye (that might've happened elsewhere in the show too: One of the cops gets signal on her phone (radios/phones not working there is a big plot-point), but she drops the phone before she can make a call. It's next shown with a cracked screen and she abandons it. Why? A phone can work just fine with a cracked screen. Why not at least see if it works? That one bit seemed like a mixture of poor writing and being...oddly cheap on the props-side (why not have the phone be...more destroyed?).
And yes, I know it's nitpicky, but it's one of few faults in the episode, and one that very clearly seemed like "we need to lengthen the plot"

Discussion Was Jackson West this annoying initially. Spoiler
I am rewatching the show rn and I actually liked all 3 original Rookies when I first watched the show but on the rewatch its so frustating seeing the amount of shit he gets away with.
If Lucy or Nolan would have done half the things he did they would have been bounced. It started frustating me especially towards the end of S1 and start of S2 and then things calmed down a bit and now I am in S3 and did no one find it weird he installed a camera to spy on a 18 year old teenager. I understand his distrust due to her background but that just did not sit right with me

From the zombie nature, to the guy suffering a mental break in Wesley’s office…it was just a very creepy episode in comparison to every other episode🫨🫨

i just finished watching all episodes and seasons up until season 8 and i have so much to say.
in terms of writing i think my favorite has got to be season 3. i know people said that the tone of the show got too serious for that season but i actually like it that they try to tackle real life problems (which was probably because it aired during the peak blm movement). i like season 3 because it feels more real? in a way… like they did not do a perfect job but they still tried. i feel like they really downplayed this issue in the later seasons especially with how they paint james’ character and made him into this insufferable activist and a bad husband to harper. i feel like the rookie as a show should balance it out maybe? i mean i do really like the other episodes about the serial killers and stuff but they really need to hire back whoever wrote season 3 because it was just the best one so far.
i miss the earlier seasons vibes… starting from season 6 i began to find so much annoying stuff to complain about hahah

Season 2 Grace is such an amazing recurring character! Spoiler
She's the best emotional support for Nolan, and their relationship is just so sweet and wholesome!! I love how Nolan always calls her and all the advice she has for him, and how helpful she is in the series as well. I'm just sad she leaves at the end of Season 2.

Season 8 seth ridley double standard Spoiler
does anyone here feel like the rookie “og” group (nolan, chen, tim, lopez, harper, grey, and their significant others) kinda gives off popular kids in school energy as the seasons progress? im not saying this in an aggressive way bc even lucy acknowledged it in an episode.
but hear me out,
as the seasons progress, i feel like these main characters tend to have double standards and moral ambiguity when it comes to saving each other’s asses and sweeping things under the rug. i get that it’s probably the writers’ fault because the writing really is poor in this regard.
i’ve been binging the show, and i realized in s7 and s8 that so many things about how these characters act bother me. they act more like a close-knit group that would turn a blind eye as long as it means saving one another, but when an outsider (ex: the rookies or other officers) does the same thing, they throw a tantrum.
one example is the seth plotline. i get that seth is a terrible character who lies all the time and would definitely not make a good cop, but the way tim, lucy, and even nolan act towards him gives me such holier-than-thou energy. these characters hate his ass for lying on the job, acting as if they’ve never lied to save their own asses or protect their careers? like, lucy lied about her and nolan’s relationship when she was a rookie, she lied about tim being suicidal during that virus outbreak, and she lied about knowing how tim covered for isabel when she was an addict. tim has also lied plenty of times, including about his military days, how he got his team killed, and how he conspired to commit a literal murder about ray. and nolan lied about lucy being at his house during the invasion in s1, and he lied about bailey working with mavaldo, the hitman. like, they’ve all lied at some point, but somehow it’s okay because they’re the main characters. i just get so annoyed when they get angry at seth for lying to save his own ass, even though i find him annoying too, because these characters aren’t saints either.
idk, i just find them to be so mean-girl-coded in a way? like, they can brush off everything when it’s one of their own, but when an outsider does it, all hell breaks loose. don’t even get me started on how unprofessional tim and lucy have been on the job since they started dating again. like when tim gave lucy special treatment during the westview zombie episodes, where he literally only gave the alpha-code warning when he knew lucy was in danger. and the moment he stepped foot in westview, he only looked for lucy, not the victims or even his other officers. idk, i feel like the show is poorly written, especially when it comes to the chenford romance. like, i love chenford, and they’re the reason i watch the show in the first place, but the double standards annoy me so much.
these characters said they want to save the people and reform the justice system but they cant even be bothered to act fair with their own coworkers.
not to mention they act like they’ve never been rookies before. nolan and chen literally did so many mistakes during their rookies days and get away with it bc of plit armor. seth got tasked to answer 3 phone calls during a wildfire while being bullied by superior (smitty not helping him color coding that map) and forgot to alert tim and lucy about the fire got them acting like seth was INTENTIONALLY trying to kill them when it was an accident. i get that what he did after about lying at the hospital was bad, and he should take responsibility, but given his hard ass job (that should have been grey’s THE CHIEF btw) as a month old rookie and expecting him to be 100% perfect was ridiculous imo. its like asking a teenager to supervise the whole highschool under chaos, of course he was gonna do some mistake-__- lucy and tim was also flirting when they got into that road, did they not see the fire…? why not make sure of it with dispatch? why wait for a news from a rookie who they prior to that event had trust issues with..?
