I gave my interview on 27th oct 2026, so it's basically a formality for insiders, and for outsiders it's difficult to get in there. I had to give two rounds of interview in which round A consisted of questions regarding ”research methodology” and round B consisted of your core subject knowledge and the proposal you have prepared”. It went well. It's very basic knowledge check nothing special or difficult but that's not all, some one from the staff told me that you need to be an insider and also you should have prepared your research proposal under the guidance of someone from that particular university you wish to go to, otherwise it's a waste. The professor has already selected their candidates so all of this interview drama is a formality. And even the students who were in touch with the teacher told the same. Good luck everyone!
ik everybody is frustrated after knowing that even after clearing NET JRF you still are not sure whether you will get a job or not , but there are struggles in every single field, some people like myself really wanna be in academia but people just demotivate you and say "go abroad" or "take a corporate job" , not everybody has the option of going abroad and its just tiring to see all the negative posts ,idk why this sub has posts about just people ranting how there are no jobs and all , but then again negative sells faster so please do not demotivate people from choosing this path, its difficult but if you wanna do it please do it and not everybody in this country has a phd especially a good one, so please do not demotivate me and other ambitious peeps
I’m currently preparing for the NET exam, but looking around at the job market, I’m starting to get a reality check and wanted to hear from people who have actually cleared it (or know someone who has).
The standard advice is that clearing NET opens doors to becoming an Assistant Professor or getting into research. But from what I’ve been observing:
Academic Roles: Government/Central university hiring feels super slow, ad-hoc/guest faculty positions don't always pay well, and most decent private or state universities seem to mandate a PhD anyway for permanent roles.
Alternative Careers: Are candidates actually landing good non-teaching roles like Subject Matter Expert (SME), EdTech roles, Academic Content Writer, or Policy/Corporate research positions purely based on NET?
PSU Recruitment: I’ve heard PSUs sometimes hire via NET scores, but does this actually happen regularly for non-science/humanities stream subjects, or is it super rare?
For those who qualified (NET or JRF):
Did you get a solid job right away, or did you have to immediately jump into a PhD/wait out vacancies?
If you transitioned into the private sector or corporate training/EdTech, how is the pay and career growth?
Would love to get some honest experiences, ground reality, and advice before sinking more months into preparation. Thanks!
There's a singular alphabet typo in the locality name of my permanent address. Will it cause problems later and if so what can be done to prevent it? Please help 🙏🏼😭
How do you remember which author wrote what and which period they belong to? I feel like I study one movement, move on to another, and then start mixing up all the authors and their works. There's just SO much to remember.
Anyone found a way to make this easier, or is everyone just revising the same stuff 50 times?
how are you guys doing!! kinda freaking out cause paper 1 seems like a lot for me. I have been solving pyqs and it does seem like I’ve a whole mountain of info that I’m yet to explore and it’s giving me fomo
I'm in 1st year of MA, applying to give UGC NET in december. As far as i'm aware, I am eligible to give the exam? Yet I keep getting this error for some reason.
The form allows you to apply for JRF,Assistant professor and PhD only.
You can tick all three options but I had only selected JRF and Asst professor. Does this disqualify me from PhD admissions? Should I have clicked all three?
Guys, I submitted my ugc net application but made a mistake
My masters degree is data science but I chose it as computer science
Won't there be option to correct it during the correction window, right?
If not, will that be a big problem?
Do I need to wait till the correction window or sending a mail now?
PYQs are helping with understanding the exam pattern and identifying repeated concepts, but there are still questions in mocks that seem unfamiliar even after studying the topic. It gets confusing whether those areas need detailed preparation or just a basic understanding is enough.
For those preparing seriously, how many years of PYQs are you solving? And do you analyse every incorrect answer in detail or only revise the concepts behind the questions that are repeatedly getting wrong
I need your help, advice, and guidance. I have an agricultural background, with a B.Sc. in Agriculture and an M.Sc. in Agronomy. I am thinking of appearing for UGC NET in Environmental Sciences, but I have very little knowledge of this subject.
We all know that we have only one month left, and I have other things to manage as well. Is there any way to score good marks in UGC NET with a smart approach?
I also have other government job exams to prepare for, so I can't put all my time into this preparation alone.
I wasted my whole year preparing for it, finally cleared jrf only to realise it's just useless you again have to prepare a research proposal study give interviews and still they will reject you and there are no jobs at all. DO IT ONLY IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN RESEARCH not because it pays you or anything. It's a PAIN and a sweet trap, because after 5 years when you're gonna finish your P.hD you are going to realise there are no jobs if you have no money or source. You will have to work at a guest faculty 1500rs per lecture and that's also for 11 months, after that god knowss. It's so so shitty i don't know how to say it. I am not demotivating or anything it's just not that easy. It's very draining and will rob you of your happiness to the core. If you want to actually contribute to research you can go abroad and do your research and live your life. In india it's just useless to put so much effort for nothing. It's only for those CREAM CROWD PEOPLE.
I’ve been trying to upload my photo and signature since last night, and this one error is driving me crazy. I’ve tried everything I can think of, but nothing seems to work. It’s incredibly frustrating, especially with the deadline being tomorrow.
Has anyone encountered this error before or been facing the same issue over the last few hours? If you’ve managed to resolve it, please share how. I’m open to any suggestions. Any help would be greatly appreciated, ASAP!
Please Help!
I’ve been trying to upload my Live Photo since yesterday, but nothing works. I’ve tried 3 different devices, taken over 100 photos against light-coloured walls with proper lighting, and watched several YouTube tutorials, but I still get the same error: “Your scanned file is not as per specification.”
Has anyone faced this issue and found a solution? Please share what worked for you. I’d really appreciate the help!
