Review / Advice Scarlet Lady Diva is fantastic

Post image

I just was on the Scarlet Lady transatlantic - and Anaslaysia - the diva on the ship - was worth the trip. She is very talented and if you have the chance to buy tickets for her Sip, Snack and Sass show and/or the Late Night Soirée with the Diva - do it. Two of the best shows I have seen on any of the ships. She is nice and approachable and so talented. Her contract just started - so I hope many people will be able to see her when they are on the Scarlet Lady.

Offers / Sales / Deals / Pricing MNVV changes again

Virgin is changing their MNVV policy again. Effective 10-27 sail anytime, two years to decide. They previously announced sail anytime one year to decide, but never implemented that change. Today we were told it’s now two years to decide and sail anytime. I think this is good news. Previously you had to sail within two years and that was hard for some sailors. It applies to new and old MNVVs!

food / beverage Virgin Voyages veterans: Which restaurant deserves a SECOND reservation? 🍽️❤️

Okay, experienced Sailors, I want your opinions!
Virgin has some fantastic dining experiences, but if you could go back to just ONE restaurant for a second dinner during your voyage, which would you choose?
Extra Virgin?
The Wake?
Pink Agave?
Gunbae?
Test Kitchen?
Razzle Dazzle?
Or something else entirely?
And don’t just tell us where. Tell us what you would order!
First time Virgin Sailors, this one’s for you too. Ask away!

food / beverage So disappointed by Virgin's boba!

I was so excited that the coffee shop started offering bubble tea on Brilliant lady. My first sip of this watered-down, flavorless drink with fake tapioca was so disappointing. The pearls have a terrible texture and artificial taste. What a waste of $9, probably the worst boba of my life.

Review / Advice First Time Virgin Cruiser

• Upvotes

Hello, I just wanted to leave a review on things I loved and things that didn't go so well on Virgin.

First the things I loved: The food was delicious and I loved we could do fine dining without an upcharge. I loved how they werent any high pressure sales tactics. There weren't photographers all over the place either which is nice. It was a pleasant change from other cruise lines. Very relaxing. We had a balcony room which was spacious. We loved the tattoo studio on board. Spent a lot of time and money there. The casino was small but fun. The shops were cute and decent. The adults only aspect was nice as well.

Things I didnt love: this is minor but someone forgot to put toilet paper in one of the bathroom stalls. We [my husband and I] changed our card on file while boarding and they didn't link our account which led to problems when we tried to disembark. Had to get out of line and go to sailor services before they let us off the ship which was also just a minor inconvenience. The major issue I had and am still having is with our Splash of Romance package. We Shook for Champange on our last night. After an hour we checked and it said it had been delivered but we never got it, we also checked our folio and saw we were charged for it. So we went to Sailor Services to ask where our bottle was and to get it removed from the bill since it comes with the package. We waited approximately 20 minutes and were told it was taken care of and it was off our bill and they would send another bottle to our room since we didn't get the one we ordered. Tonight we got our final folio bill via email and the champagne is still showing as a charge. I get on sailor services chat and am on hold for 45 minutes. Once I get connected they tell me they dont have access to the bill they just sent me and to check back in 24 hours. We had some back and forth, so overall over an hour of my time for nothing. In total its going to be around 2 hours of my time to get a charge off my bill that should have never been there in the first place. I definitely think other lines have far superior customer service.

food / beverage Review of VV Resilient Lady

• Upvotes

hi all I just got off a five day cruise on the resilient lady out of Miami. I am a very seasoned cruiser and have been on other cruise lines. This was my first time on virgin. I did some research on it and decided that I wanted to go on it because it was adults only and my friend who has never cruised before, I wanted her to have a kid free experience. I know I am going to get absolutely roasted for this post, but I will not be sailing virgin again. I did my research regarding the ship and read that the food reviews were generally outstanding. So I took that to mean that virgin was going to beat out even Celebrity as far as food. What I didn’t know is how strange the food is on virgin. There is literally like no normal food, except in the galley which was horrible all the way around. We went to razzle dazzle, the wake, extra-virgin and pink agave. Now I will admit I am a picky eater, but my friend is not and I only ordered anything to eat at one of the restaurants and that food was terrible. my friend also struggled to find anything that she liked because literally we did not even understand what was being offered on the menu, what half of the culinary terms and ingredients were because we are not used to eating extremely fancy food. I mean, where was the baked potato? I had asked the restaurants that I did not order at , which was three of them, if they could accommodate me in a different way and they could not as they said everything was premade. so I basically starved on this cruise. I will say the pizza was OK so if I got really hungry, I had some pizza or I ate some bread at a restaurant. And my friend ordered some entrées and tried them but for the most part, she said they were inedible. so I have yet to understand how everyone raves about this food! Just because we are on adult cruise does not mean that we should be forced to eat food that is so exotic that we don’t even know what we’re eating. and like I said, I know I will be roasted for this post because according to 99% of the world Virgin has the best food out there. I did run into a few other cruisers with the same issue as me. that said the overall cruise was nice, enjoyed our port days and the spa and just being able to relax. Drinks were awesome!! I was sad that we had to be rerouted from Bimini to Nassau as I have been to Nassau many many times. But I realize things happen and we made the best of the day. I thought the staff was very helpful but a second cruise on virgin is a no go for me because the food is a big part of the experience of being on a cruise. I probably lost weight on this cruise. So if you are a picky eater, have ARFID (which I have), have dietary restrictions, or stomach issues like Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, or IBS you may struggle with the menus. Glad out there for those of you who absolutely love the food. Very, very happy for you. But there are a lot of us out here in the world that cannot deal with what virgin offers.

Shore Things / excursions All shore things sold out?

Phillipsburg (Sint Marteen) very early December, suddenly every single shore thing is sold out. Is this likely true or a technical issue? I mean every single one of the 30 shore things are sold out... never have seen that before. Not even in Alaska!

food / beverage Is Razzle Dazzle usually oily?

My husband and I just got off our first cruise and will definitely book another. The only thing we didn’t like was brunch at Razzle Dazzle and I’m wondering if we went on an off day or if our experience was the norm.

I ordered the Razzle Dazzle Breakfast. The eggs and potatoes seemed to come with an extra side of oil. I took my napkin and tried to remove a bunch from the eggs but my napkin could only remove so much. The lady at the table next to us also made a remark on not being able to eat her food due to the excessive amount of oil and she had ordered something else.

I am wondering is Razzle Dazzle known for its excessive amount of oil, is this not the norm, or did I order the wrong thing? If this isn’t the norm Id be open to trying the restaurant again but my body just cannot handle that much oil.

Offers / Sales / Deals / Pricing Seriously Suite Bids

Hey all,

Of course I don’t expect anyone to know exactly the likelihood of being upgraded but; figured I would ask about probability.

We’re sailing on the Nov Bimini + Costa Maya cruise on Scarlet Lady. Judging by our Facebook group size and the timing in which this sailing is happening I am expecting a fairly empty cruise.

That being said, initially we opted for a $300 bar tab and SOR. However, after looking at the bids we could try for a Seriously Suite with a minimum bid of $575 which would cancel out the need for SOR/Extra bar tab (not big drinkers). Note: we have booked a standard sea terrace.

Looking at room availability, it seems like there are still 46 seriously suites available.

If you’ve been upgraded to Seriously Suite under similar circumstances, how much did you bid? What is the likelihood that our bid will be accepted (a little over minimum)?

We’d love the suite but, debating if I should be bidding even more!

I Don't know Average age of people on European Cruises

I (23F) and my boyfriend (24M), want to take a Mediterranean cruise for his 25th birthday in May of 2027’ (7 day cruise). I usually sail RC but wanted to try something new and heard great things about virgin voyages. The only thing I’m curious about is the age demographic. Is it mostly older people, or are there a decent amount of people in their mid-late twenties. I understand we will most likely be at the younger end but want just curious if there are others around the same age to meet, party, and have fun.

Also if there is anything else I should know or keep in mind please let me know

Also for those who been on both RC and Virgin Voyages I would love to hear your takes on how they compare (I sailed Icon, Oasis, and Symphony).

Thank you!

Has anyone used the new virtual dining queue? How does it work? Did you like it better than the previous “system” of joining the waitlist in person?

General Question / Discussion Miami to LA via Panama

Never sailed on Virgin before, but this will be my third cruise and I like the idea of what Virgin have to offer, so all good there.

My question is - has anyone done the Miami to LA repositioning cruise in March, that goes via the Panama Canal. If you have, what are your thoughts and experiences of that particular itinerary?

I know it’s got a lot of sea days, which is not a bad thing as it’ll give me time to relax and “switch off”.

Solo traveller male mid 40’s if it makes any difference, looking at a Sea Terrace (hammock mandatory for me 😅)

General Question / Discussion Has anyone used Virgin employee discount for a cruise?

I work for a Virgin affiliated brand, a coworker mentioned that they got a great deal on VA flights, and I’ve wanted to try their cruises for a while.
Has anyone used their employee discount?
A few questions:
How much can I expect off the listed price? (I’ve been told that they will quote you on the phone, but I haven’t began deciding where/when, so im just looking a ballpark number to consider a budget)
Can I use it for friends and family if I am not boarding?
Do they offer anything for solo cruisers?
Do they package it with VA flights? I’m based in Europe and would likely want to stay in Europe, but just wondering if that’s an option.
If I went through a TA instead, can the discount still be applied?

Very long and annoying one, I know, much thanks in advance!

App / Website / WIFI App problems

I was all checked in and then it told me that I needed to add a payment method, even though I had already done this. However there was nowhere to add the payment method, so I thought it was maybe a glitch and uninstalled/reinstalled the app. Now when I login it says it needs to send me a code, to my email or phone number but there’s nothing to click to send the code. Now I’m on hold with Sailor Services and losing hope. Help!

Edit to add that I’m boarding this afternoon in Miami.

General Question / Discussion Resilient, we saw you from Scarlet tonight! Did you see us?

Approaching Miami saw “Ahoy Sis” on Resilient as she passed. Curious if anyone from Resilient can tell us what, if anything, Scarlet said with the balcony lights.
