Society Tourist testifies on how bad street harassment is in Algeria and advises women not to travel there alone

We've been telling y'all and you keep saying "it happens everywhere". No it doesn't.

I myself have traveled to many countries and in my entire life across Asia Europe and Africa, I have only been harassed by Arab men: Algerian, Tunisian, Syrian.

There is a problem with our disgustingly misogynist societies.

Discussion Are there people like me? Or am I being delusional?

I am 35 yo female from Algiers, I am independent, I have never really needed a man to survive, but I really want someone to share and build a life with, except I always enjoyed being intimate with guys, for me when I date someone I try to enjoy the whole experience, I don't play that game of withholding sex, I also don't give it up easily,

The problem is a lot of men here are very narrow minded, once they know you're a sexually active person, they put you on "the loose" category and start jerking you off,

Are there men here who are open to a real relationship with a woman who embraces her own sexuality, and refuses to suppress it?

Or am I being delusional?

Question Done with the Algerian National Service bureaucracy. Is peace of mind worth walking away entirely?

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I need to vent and hear your thoughts on this.

Back on October 14th, I made the exhausting trip from Chlef to Blida to submit my medical file at the National Service center. They registered me and told me to come back in 15 days.

Today (October 26th), I made the same grueling trip all over again. I arrived at the center early at 7:45 AM, stood in line for nearly four hours, and finally reached the counter at 11:40 AM. But when I handed over my file, the agent casually told me, "We only process medical files in the morning, and the time for them is over."

Just like that, after hours of standing and hundreds of kilometers traveled, all my effort was dismissed.

Living in Chlef and having to deal with this endless, soul-crushing back-and-forth travel has completely drained me. At this point, I’m seriously considering just walking away, forgetting the whole National Service file exists, and moving on with my life without that card.

For those who have been through this or similar bureaucratic nightmares: Is it worth fighting through this system, or is dropping it for my own mental peace the right move? What would you do in my shoes?

Travel Anyone down to start a hiking group in Algeria?

• Upvotes

Hey guys, I was thinking about starting a group for people who enjoy hiking and trekking and want to explore more of Algeria together.
The idea is pretty simple: get people together, organize hikes, discover new places, and eventually plan camping trips and longer treks. Doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced hiker or just someone who enjoys being outdoors.
I’m also thinking of creating a Discord server so we can chat, share trails, plan trips, and organize everything more easily.
If you’re interested, drop a comment or DM me. If enough people are down, we can get this going and plan our first hike! 🌲

Education / Work Struggling to make new friendships

Hey im 19F soon to be 20, third year medical student
I transferred to ziania last year from une annex and I can’t make any new friends here
Most of my friends rn are from middle/ high school end even from primary school and i lowk forgot how to make new friends
My first year of uni was pretty much good having my old friends from high school with me to hang out with them at uni made my year much better despite studying fi molha9a where les moyens d’étude were pretty much inexistants
And la gréve et tout but jazt 3la khir
Anyway last year I moved to ziania and i was expecting a lot especially الجو الدراسي and i was aiming for higher grades and better formation but what happened was the complete opposite
I suffered from a weird depression and feeling out of place I couldn’t interact with my new promo , especially that I don’t have any friends here and im the introvert type so i always rely to my friends whenever im expected to interact with any stranger , and lowkey feeling of inferiority because im the new girl makes it even worse
Anyway I couldn’t go to uni much i was always in my dorm room no friends no connaissances , without socializing or going to uni i felt more and more distant from my spécialité and my grades gone down hell i even pass to rattrapage for the first time in my life, ive never felt more sad and depressed in my whole life the stress killed me my skin and hair were even more affected by my situation and i even gained 15kg during my solitude
My first experience being far from my family and friends in new environment was hell
Im a third year now and I feel like this year will be the same
I want to save myself and the year i want to return to my old self
I have a big problem with making friends wich is that im really specific on what type of people to make my friends
They need to have similar interests and social and political opinions as me either way I can’t be myself with them and feel forced to pretend im like them and that drains my energy tbh
I want genuine advices ik some of will say that i can survive on my own and I don’t need friends but I literally need to bring joy to my life in order to have energy and passion for my studies
Friends are really important thing in my life and I didn’t realize that until last year

Discussion The mindset of "maybe I can find someone better" feels off to me.

If you’re questioning a commitment, it shouldn’t be a comparison game of "can I upgrade?" It’s either this specific person is right for you, or they aren't.

Why do people jump to the "someone better" mindset when doubts creep in? Is it cold feet/fear of commitment manifesting as idealizing an imaginary future partner

I really hope this isn’t how most algerian women actually feel about marriage, and that this is just wedding anxiety taking a weird form. But honestly, if this kind of mindset is common, I'd rather stay single.

IM M25 never dated before or have someone i woud love to hear your thoughts and exp !for upcoming days

Sport Billard players here in Algeria

Anyone here play pool (billiards), whether professionally or at an intermediate level? 🎱
I’m looking to meet fellow players in Algiers, especially anyone who owns a pool table. It would be great to hang out, play some games, and enjoy the sport together.
Feel free to reach out!

Hi everyone i hope you're doing well, so I'm a third year medicine students, and I've been researching recently on immigration options for after i graduate, so i can preferably start preparing from now

the thing is, my budget is between 4k-8k euros, so I'm not sure if Germany will be an option for me then or no, anyways, if any immigrant doctors are reading this, or anyone with knowledge, is there any decent options for immigration with that budget and a medicine degree? or should i just give up?
