WatchOS Handwashing Timer is Gone

I picked up my Apple Watch Ultra 4 this weekend and I was surprised that Apple has removed the handwashing feature from the Series 12 and the Ultra 4. It’s still available on every other watch that runs the current WatchOS, but not the two newest. I’m sure it wasn’t the most popular feature, but I used it all day long and it was such a nice quality of life feature. I sent feedback through the portal to Apple. If you want to as well, I attached the link to this post. Here’s to hoping they bring it back.

My Watch AW U2 ➡️ AW Series 12

Made the (side?) grade just a little over a week ago from Ultra 2 to Series 12. Got a Series 10 when they first came out, then quickly transitioned to an Ultra 2 for the more premium feel and extra features. Found myself missing the sleeker, less bulky feel of the Series watches. Decide it would be a good time when the 12 came out for better health tracking.

-Noticeably faster to the touch
-Feels thinner and lighter than any other series watch? (Could be because I am coming from an Ultra and haven’t had a series in a while)
-One thing I really disliked about my Series 10 was it felt like the Digital Crown was always getting in the way of my wrist. Haven’t experienced that issue at all with the Series 12 (again could be a transition experience)
-The dark bronze color is awesome. It can look like many different types of shades depending on lighting which is cool
-Being able to display steps on the watch face without a third party app is awesome
-The battery life is great. I keep always on display on which may play a factor into this, but the battery life feels pretty comparable to the Ultra 2’s battery life.

Honestly, I just found myself not using as many of the ultra features as I thought I would. Plus the desire of a sleeker look and less bulk, decided I might as well make the trade in while the value of the Ultra 2 was still high. Originally was between the natural titanium version of the 12, or this aluminum. Really been liking this one so far.

On my brand new Apple Watch Ultra 4. Just incredible.

This used to be one of the main things I used my Apple Watch for. Now it can no longer set timers by voice.

Trending r//r/popular Annoying— official Chinese charger doesn’t charge US watches

Post image

UPDATE… concierge suggested an electronics store, but I had a friend order a third party charger off Menuitean (sp?). It arrived in 20 minutes. Chinese logistics are amazing.

Lost my charger while in China. Went to Apple Store, bought new charger, go back to my hotel and see this. Really Apple?

My Watch Broke my Series 10 watch, Apple replaced it with Series 12

So I had Series 10 natural Titanium 42mm GPS + cellular.
I had Apple care on it. Broke it at the GYM, did the express replacement where they ship the watch to you.

To my surprise it was Series 12 Natural titanium 42mm GPS + cellular. I guess they didn’t have the titanium ones in series 10 as those sell less so they don’t keep a lot of back stock.

I am not complaining tho, this watch came out only last month! The battery life is awesome. The battery health on my damaged watch was 90% so the difference in battery duration is huge!

WatchOS Ability to WRITE to Siri AI on WatchOS?

• Upvotes

Maybe I'm in the minority but I would really love the ability to type to Siri on my UW2 instead of voice dictating. There are times where I don't bring my phone with me at the gym and it would be nice to simply type my inquiry in rather than having to voice it outloud.

Anyone else interested in this being a feature in the future?

Discussion How long has your watch lived for with regular swimming?

I never owned a smart watch before and I'm planning to buy a Series 12
I will be swimming with it 3 times a week 1 hour each in a chlorinated pool
I'm looking to hear from others who have done about the same with previous watches how long it will approximately last for before the water seal degrades and issues come up.

Discussion Sleep metrics?

Post image

What does the AW measure when it gathers sleep metrics? I may notice when I wake up once or twice at night, but otherwise, I’m just rolling over to my other side. Is it counting such movement as being awake?

WatchOS Brand new Apple Watch SE 3 issue

Post image
• Upvotes

Just got a brand new Apple Watch SE 3 and it’s failing to pair with updated iOS 27 iPhone 16e.
Has anyone got a resolution for this? It won’t let me update the watch to pair it. Just going in a loop of resetting the watch and failing to update.

Activity Using an Apple Watch in a sports vest

Hi all, I have an Apple Watch Series 3 that I no longer use as I’ve started using a whoop. I’m looking to repurpose the watch as a gps similar to the statsports device for tracking distance and speed during exercise. As I play rugby I cannot wear it on my wrist/ arm as it would come off in game. Is it possible? Any advice? Thanks all

WatchOS Apple forgot to sync date when changing timezone

Ultra 4 (27.2 24S116) connected to phone 15 Pro (27.2 24B115).

I did +8h timezone change. Seems when changing it, there is a bug where watch syncs only time, not date. Oddly. Picture was taken on Monday 26th, 7:33 local time, as shown on the phone.

Discussion Has delayed and missing heart rate data been resolved on Series 12?

I recall several posts mentioning either a large delay, or no HR data being shown on the heart rate complication on the new Series 12. Also, mentions of missing heart rate data in the Health app, well short of the "every 5 seconds" that was advertised.

Has this been resolved for anyone or are these issues still present?

Discussion Trying to understand how apple watch recovery data differs between people and countries

I have been working with apple watch data for a while now (I'm a data scientist), trying to detect signs of overtraining in the data building a recovery app. One thing i have noticed is that almost everything we know about normal ranges and the recovery scores you see comes from a handful of studies, that too mostly from one or two countries on a fixed age range and body type of people.

So i want to look at real data from people who train from a few other places as well. Like, how do people recover differently depending on where they live, their schedule, their climate etc..

In case you want to volunteer I’ll personally go through your data and basically share the following with you:

  1. Every time fatigue built up in the last 6 months for you and how long it lasted.
  2. How many hard sessions you did on days your body actually needed rest
  3. How many hard days your body can handle and the best days for them
  4. Anything else you might want details about.

Lmk if you are interested, I can analyse 5-6 people's data this week at most, so yea lmk, dm, comment anything is fine.

PS: This would only be useful if you workout, so yea 😄

Discussion Recommendations….

Here’s where I’m at.

Currently have 2 year old SE2 (BH=84). With my use case I have no real issue with the battery lasting me a day with basically once a day charging.

I’d planned on upping to a Series 12 come the Black Friday sales time (assuming there are some) HOWEVER, I’m seeing a fair amount of grumbling about the 12 but I’m having trouble discerning if it’s the 12 or OS27 that’s the issue. I see a few grumbling on Ultra/OS27 but very few on SE3/OS27 which might just be that there’s more 12’s than the other models, and hence more grumbling.

That being said my questions are - is it mostly the 12 or is it mostly OS27? If it’s the 12 does the good outweigh the drawbacks?? If it is OS27 I’d expect fixes to come along fairly soon.

If it is the 12 would I be better off limping along another year and jumping in on a 13?? Or perhaps settling on a SE3? Ultra is out - just too big for me.

Thoughts??? THANKS

My Watch Lohnt sich eine Apple Watch für mich?

Hey zusammen,

Danke euch!
