Searching for friends/community
Hi,
I am (21F) a senior looking for some friends. Majority have graduated, and some aren’t at the school for the semester. I have also had trouble with making friends, and it fading away, that’s something I would like to change. I am a psych student, very interested in psychological research, I love philosophy, biking (even though I don’t have one anymore), possibly hiking, thrifting, live music/events, board games, movies, sketch comedy, vinyls, trivia, walking around downtown, or anymore in nature/at Auburn-Opelika. I would love to go to some football or basketball/other sports games at the school too! I’m interested in volunteering as well, honestly going out and trying new things.
I am on the left side of politics, and have some progressive ideas. I would really love to have a friend/small group of friends that are similar, in addition to having really nice discussions about anything honestly. I’m not the “I hate small talk” kind of person, trust me lol. I however want to make an effort to be consistent in my friendships and making significant relationships with others here, and I would like that to also be reciprocated! If this peaks anyone’s interest or you’re in the same boat, dont be afraid to make a comment, I would really like recommendations/suggestions, or even if you just want to possibly become a friend as well.

Auburn Hall Apartments: what is it really like living there?
I'm between the decision of Mag 1 and Auburn Hall. I have seen both, Mag 1 was more expensive, but seems to be cleaner, nice location, and comes with almost all utilities, including laundry. Auburn Hall was in an older building, in need of repairs in many places. One unit I toured, the bathroom ceiling was rotting. But some units weren't AS bad.
The rent at Auburn Hall, however,is definitely cheaper, but is it actually worth the lower cost? Is there anyone who has lived there (esp. women) who can share their experiences living there?

Looking for a sublease/sublettor
Hello everyone.
Like the title says, I am looking for any availability for a sublease. I am starting at Auburn this upcoming spring semester in January.
I am preferably looking for a 1x1 or a studio. However, I would be open to taking something in a 2x2. I’m a male,so in any case I would want a male roommate.
I am looking mainly for something at 320 west Mag, the Standard, or Uncommon.
Any help will be greatly appreciated in the comments, and my DM’s are also open.
Thanks!

Sublease Available!
SUBLEASE AT MIDTOWN: 1 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment/townhome in Midtown Auburn development!!! Lease from January 2027-July 2027, with option to extend. Rent: $1,300 per month, usually $1,535, but I am willing to pay the difference! Parking, water, wifi, cable, laundry, etc. included in rent! (only thing not included in electric) This specific unit is the upstairs unit (not connected to unit below at all), so it has the huge balcony up top!!! Very spacious and newer build! Amazing location and amenities, sadly having to move out after graduation in December. I am happy to send pictures and answer any questions!!

In State Admissions
It’s early as we have a HS freshman but he is interested in Auburn as well as two other SEC schools. We’d like to get some basics as far as in state tuition, early admission, GPA & SAT or ACT scores to qualify for scholarships. Also, what makes AU special to you?

Transferred to AU as a minority and have had it hard to make friends
It’s my senior year at AU and I’m a Black, Gay male (M22) having it hard making friends. Although I’m an introvert at heart, I do want some type of college experience w/ friends considering I’ve only attended SUSCC and AUM, which weren’t as community-oriented.
Additionally, It doesn’t help that I also feel as though I barely fit in, being a black gay male. Yes I know that I picked a PWI with a relatively small minority population but I’d think that it’d be easier to feel the community aspect that AU is known for.
I live locally and my hobbies include: walking, reading, going out, somewhat partying, cars and watching movies.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Auburn University should I give up on COB?
sorry if this isnt relevant to the sub, I'm just trying to get as much advice as I can.
okay, so for some context, I am currently a freshman at auburn. I rushed earlier this fall and didn't have the experience I had hoped for. I was dropped by all but 2 houses, and by preference round, the one out of those two that I preferred had also dropped me. I withdrew to avoid getting a bid from a house I knew I didn't want, and hoped to COB later on. as soon as it was available, I put my name and info on the COB interest list, and later on I got an email from a chapter inviting me to an event. it was NOT a one on one invitation or anything like that, I'm pretty sure the email was sent to everyone who filled out the form so they weren't showing interest in me specifically. I went to the event, LOVED it, and had a great conversation with one of the actives.
the issue is, since this event I have heard nothing back from the chapter or any actives. no emails, no texts or calls or dms. I also emailed the COB director (whom sent out the invitation email for the chapter room event) about whether or not they'd host more events and have not heard back, even though it's been at least 3 weeks. I 100% understand that participating in COB does not guarantee me a bid or any interest, so I wasnt necessarily expecting anything to come of it, but I'm coming to reddit because I'm a little confused on how to move forward.
im feeling pretty doubtful that any other chapters at my school will do COB, and at this point I have no idea where the chapter whose event I attended is even participating anymore. should I just give up hope that I'll COB? or should I just wait until spring and see how things go? I really don't know much about panhellenic and greek life as a whole, so any advice on how to move forward would be really great.

Housing Scholarship Help
Hello there! My son wants to go to Auburn badly and has loved the school since he was a little guy. He has the ACT and GPA to cover most of tuition, but we unfortunately can't pay housing, and we won't qualify for much with FAFSA. I am trying to find the AUSOM scholarships. Any help with this? I was also wondering if anyone has any other suggestions or scholarships. I do no want him to to take out student loans. He's going into Communications.

Are you looking for an apartment for the spring?
Hi all! I am looking to sublet my apartment beginning basically as soon as possible. It is part of a 4x4 deluxe apartment in the Mill. Has its own individual bathroom and closet. The other three tenants are all male, ranging from current college student to young employed adult. Ideally I would love to have someone in by December 1st, but I’m quite flexible and can make whatever work!
Message or comment for more details, thanks!!

Property managers / landlords that don’t suck?
I graduated aubs 3 years ago and may move back for work. Looking to lease a house. I’m well aware most property management companies are godawful (used Hayley while in school… never again)
Can anyone tell me ones that you’ve had a good experience with? Where you actually got some of your deposit back? And had moderately responsive maintenance?
Note: if you haven’t moved out yet, I will take what you say with a grain of salt because most don’t show their true colors until it’s time to cough up that security deposit

27M Looking for Friends
Yo! I moved here from San Antonio last year and I have been struggling to find friends. This never used to be a problem in hs/college, but after graduating my circle has been gradually shrinking and then completely disappeared after my move to Auburn. My wife and I are both on the introvert side so it has been difficult to get out of our comfort zone and meet people. Neither of us are in school and coworkers just don't cut it. I personally like reading, video games, hiking, lifting, tennis and cooking among other things. I guess I am looking to get to know people who are in the same boat as me or if anyone has any recommendations for places/events to go to to meet people around town.

Moving to Auburn?
My family of 4 and I (kids age 3 and 5) moved to Nashville 3 years ago from memphis. And it’s … fine. Don’t get me wrong . It’s a nice area with plenty to do, it’s just not clicking for us . We have some family in Auburn and keep joking maybe we will move there, but part of me is serious. The idea of a smaller town is appealing and my husband could get a less stressful job because we could buy a much less expensive house. I hate to make a change again, but it sort of seems like it would be a breath of fresh air. I don’t know… something about our life right now just feels off. Anyways, a long winded way of asking is Auburn a good place for a young family? I’ve always liked a bigger city, but I think i would enjoy Auburn even though it’s a small town. Give me the pros and cons! Also, by husband went to Auburn so he already loves it.

Admissions to Aviation Program
Hello, I am a high school senior who applied EA rd 2, and I plan on applying to the Aviation Program. My question is: If I am selected for "Conitnued Review," when will I recieve the final decision? And furthermore, if I don't hear back until after Jan. 9 (that's when the aviation secondary application deadline is), will I still be able to submit my secondary application? It mentions that the secondary application is due by Jan 9 and can't be extended, so if I don't hear back until after Jan 9, do I have any options? In other words, if I get se;ected for "continued review," will my aviation chances be gone?

laser hair removal recommendations
Hi I’m wondering if any girls here in Auburn have tried/know any good laser hair removal places? I want to get it, but don’t want to waste my money if it won’t work.
