Reminder: Buying and selling bags is against the rules of this sub

Seen this pop up a fair bit lately. Because people aren't reading the rules I've started banning people temporarily for this.

Please read the rules people. It's really not that hard and don't get upset if you break the rules and get punished. It's on you to read those.

The reason it's not allowed is I don't want this sub (and me) to be responsible for having to moderate that crap. Go look at r/EDCExchange or other subs that allow it. They have systems in place to hold people accountable.

Osprey Transporter Zinch (22 L) – 6-month review: my EDC after ~15 backpacks

Thumbnail

I just have to get this off my chest, because there are hardly any reviews of the Transporter Zinch online.

I honestly don't know why I bought this bag. It was probably an impulse buy. I didn't really like it in the product photos, but I found it for €75. And I have to say, it instantly became my EDC.

Organization

  • I carry my water bottle in the main compartment, and with that approach the built-in organization is plenty for me.
  • One of the side pockets has a small zippered mesh pocket next to the bottle sleeve. Two small Alpaka Zip Pouch Pro fit in there.
  • The stretch holder on the other side holds my flashlight, pocket knife, etc.
  • The main compartment has a laptop sleeve and a tablet sleeve. Neither can be accessed from the outside. My 16" laptop fits without any problem. There are also two small slip pockets for a USB stick, charging cable, etc.
  • There's still enough room in the main compartment for everything I need for my public-transit commute and the office.

Zip-and-cinch closure
The cinch lets you expand the pack a bit. That's enough for the few fresh groceries I pick up for cooking after work.

Comfort
The fit works well for my build.

Build quality
After about 6 months, the fabric shows no signs of abrasion at all. The zippers feel high-quality.

Verdict
If the looks don't put you off, this is a really great pack with excellent value for money. I now use it as a daypack when traveling too. I think I've finally found my ideal backpack.

Travel Oakley Kitchen Sink vs Arcteryx Mantis 26L for Travel

Thinking of dropping the rimowa check in that I borrow from my sister as it weighs too much (4KG!?!) and looking to swap to one of these two bags. I’m looking for something rugged as I’m a bit clumsy. Any thoughts? I’ve looked into the Osprey but they all seem to be similar prices (Oakley is on sale for $70 cheaper than the Arcteryx atm).

Question Cotopaxi FP Movement Bag authentic?

Thumbnail

I would really like to purchase this Cotopaxi x FP movement bag. It sold out ages ago on retail sites and I could a good deal on Depop and would really like to get it. I am worried if it’s authentic though!

It has a blue lining (second pic) and the authentic one has a grey lining (third pic, from the freepeoplefinds sub). I think this is the only collaborative piece they put out and not sure how Cotopaxi works (like if they have different linings for the same outer prints) or anything like that.

I know Depop has a lot of fakes from a lot of different brands, but I was thinking this is less likely to be a fake since it’s a collaborated piece?

Thanks in advance:)

Question Can anyone recommend a bag with 2 or 3 external zip pockets (preferably horizontal), padded waist belt, removeable frame, about 35 litre.

Ideally I also want 2 main compartments with zips or other quick access, water resistant, sits on its butt when you put it down, pockets on waist and shoulder straps, hiking pole attachment, water bottle pocket and durable.

I use it all day for work. Ideally I want to use it for hiking and for under seat on planes. For 3 years I've been using Jansport 36l Big Student Laptop bag. It's got the space and pockets, not terrible but shoulders aching and nowhere to put hiking poles.

Question Fjall Raven or North Face?

I decided it is time to stop wasting 20 euro every few months on cheap everyday bags and finally invenst in a good one that will last me years and will actually be practical. I looked through the suggestions in this subreddit but the designs I actually like the most are the The North Face Borealis Classic and Skule 20/24 or 26 top (Fjall).

I need a bag with many easy openings, support for when I walk long distances, space for a big laptop and books and water bottle pocket.

I checked the osprey everyone was raving about but I did not like the design, though if you have other suggestions under 120 do tell.

Question Replacement chest strap?

Thumbnail

Hi all, I have an old Karrimor backpack that I use for school/work/travel. One of the chest straps came off (got caught on a bus seat and I lost it), and I'm trying to find a replacement. The straps use a clip attachment that you can shift up and down a thick seam (pictured). Any idea where I can find something like this? Is there a proper name for this type that I can search?

Thanks!

Travel Need good everyday bag suggestion for work

Hello, I travel to work daily by local train in Mumbai, India. I am relatively in a senior position in a private company. I need suggestions for a good formal looking backpack. Generally while travelling, we need to have the bags in front of the chest. This causes my formal shirt to wrinkle. I do not carry a laptop in the bag. Just a few things like mobile, wallet, small diary and stationery etc. I was thinking of getting a sling or crossbody bag from Arctic Hunter on Amazon.

Can you please give some suggestions on getting the right bag for everyday travel? Please help.

Looking for a cute/stylish, versatile backpack

It’s time for me to get a new backpack, for city trips, traveling or grocery shopping. I’d also like to use it for work sometimes, so maybe having space for a laptop would be good, too. An all-rounder backpack would be nice!

I’d love to spend less than €200, and of course, I’d also love for it to last a long time :”)

A plus would be a cute or timeless style, maybe something that doesn’t look too techy. Maybe you have some recommendations or experience with specific brands? I’m overwhelmed by all the options and would like to avoid dropshipping brands or cheap-quality products.

Question Best work backpack for the money?

i'm trying to decide whether it's worth spending $200+ on a work backpack or if a decent $80-100 one does the job just as well. I use mine almost every day, so comfort, zippers, and straps matter more to me than branding. I've seen people recommend Osprey, Timbuk2, and Tom Bihn, but the price differences are pretty big.

What's the best work backpack you've owned for the money? Which brands are actually worth paying more for

Travel Looking for a sleek backpack for college, tech, and travel ($200–$250 budget)

Hey everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for a new backpack.

I currently use a North Face Jester, but I’d like something more unique, better organized, and more travel-friendly. I’m looking for a clean, modern design that isn’t too bulky or overcomplicated. The main reason I want to switch is that my Jester feels very top-heavy.

What I’ll carry daily:
16-inch laptop and charger
Tablet and other small tech accessories
Cables, dongles, mouse, pens, wallet, keys, AirTag, and similar items
Reusable water bottle, possibly up to 32 oz
Occasionally, a change of clothes or a few extra items when traveling

Must-haves:
Good laptop protection and padding
Dedicated water bottle pockets, preferably on both sides for versatility
Luggage pass-through strap for attaching the backpack to a suitcase
Plenty of organization for smaller accessories
Water-resistant material that can handle rain
Minimalist, modern design
More space or an equal amount of space than my current North Face Jester, or at least better use of the available space

My budget is around $200–$250, although I’m open to spending less if there’s a great option.
I’ve been looking at a few Thule backpacks, especially the EnRoute and Aion, as well as some Lenovo options. I’m open to other brands, too.

What would you recommend? I’m looking for something that works well for everyday college use but can also handle travel without requiring me to carry a second backpack. Thanks!

Question VSGO Black Snipe 25L - real experience?

I’m eyeing a lightly used Black Snipe 25L for $125CAD as a dual purpose camera backpack/travel bag. I am using Fujifilm GFX gear: two to three lenses, plus typical day pack stuff like water bottle, light jacket, etc…

I’ve seen the YouTube reviews but it’s hard to say how impartial they are. I currently have a PD Everyday 20L and it’s a bit small for GFX body and lenses.

Any users of this bag here? Also does anyone know where I could get the waist strap for it? The copy I’m looking at doesn’t have that included.

Thanks.
