Drip-drying my bathmat after my roommate showers.

Post image
169 Upvotes

My roommate and I are sharing a college apartment. Our shared bathroom has a sink and a shower. Every single time my roommate showers or washes her hands, water ends up everywhere -- the sink counter, the floor, and all over the mirror and the walls. If you walk into the bathroom within 24 hours of her using it, you're walking into puddles. Her bathmat sits right next to the shower and is constantly soggy with water. Sometimes, the puddles even get onto the carpeted floor outside the bathroom. I just don't understand a) how she gets the bathroom so wet, and b) how she doesn't notice the bathroom is so wet. The puddles reach all the way to the toilet. How do I get her to stop covering the bathroom floor in a layer of water?

Attached image is an example of how the bathmat looks after she showers.

ETA: I'm going to ask her how it gets so wet whenever she gets home. Maybe, someday, we'll have answers.

Bonus ETA: This is an old picture. The mat in the picture has since finished drying, and the floor that was under it seems to be fine. I take all of your point on better places to hang something up to dry.

I decided it was someone else's turn to buy paper towels. Someone used my hand towel and then threw it away.

I couldn't even keep the hand towel in the bathroom because at least two of my housemates don't use soap when they "wash" their hands after using the toilet.

I need to vent about my overly religious roommate

For context when we first moved in with eachother he wasn't this religious, infact he rarely spoke about his religion. But hes gotten increasingly more religious in the past few months to the point that probably 80% of the conversations he starts with me are about the bible/God.

If we're talking about something that in no way relates to the Bible in any way, he'll find a way to bring it up. I actually have to leave my bedroom door closed otherwise he'll come in and start talking about Christianity, and this can go on for 10+ minutes. He'll come in and talk loudly over my TV, or if im wearing headphones he'll still continually try to talk to me. It feels like I'm being lectured to, he knows I'm athiest.

I do plan on moving out when the lease is up, but that won't be for another 5 months. I just wanted to vent because its becoming more and more irritating.

My new roommates are disgusting!

TLDR: Just moved to NYC and had to have roommates, they’re both gross af one of them let’s her pet “go” in the kitchen sink and I’m considering just paying more in rent when the lease is up to avoid this happening again.

Guess I’m here to vent/get advice for what you all have done in the past.

I (25f) recently moved to New York, and I had already gotten myself to be OK with the fact that grown people need roommates here because it’s so expensive, but now I’m starting to think I would rather have less disposable income and pay more to live solo than do this again.

I moved into an apartment with two other girls, I thought that would be the cleaner route. I am OK with messy, the occasional jacket left lying around that you just don’t have time to get to until the weekend… I understand that, but they are absolutely DISGUSTING. So much so that I have purchased all of my own cookware, silverware, cutting boards, and a sponge, etc. because I just don’t trust anything that they touch. I’m now keeping all of my stuff in my room. I previously offered to buy an air fryer for everyone because I thought it would be super convenient and I had one back home, but now I don’t even want them touching it because I know that they’re dirty people and I couldn’t trust them to keep it clean and then it will be on me when it breaks or something.

When I first moved in, there was no soap in the bathroom and I just assumed they ran out so I purchased more, but as the days went on, I realized that neither of them wash their hands…ever. I have never heard them run water after flushing the toilet.

Neither of them take the trash out either. They just let it pile up. I’ve taken it out several times since I’ve been here and the only time I got one of them to take it out was when I specifically said hey can you take it out on your way downstairs.

I am no longer using any of the utensils, as I mentioned so I’m not washing anything either. I deep cleaned the dishwasher over the weekend and I’m solely using that so I haven’t touched anything in the sink since last Thursday when I did a full wipe down and washed everything…and guess what? Neither have they, they just continue to pile the dishes up.

I’ve also seen one of them “wash” dishes several times and she just runs water and it switches it around with her hand and then puts it with the clean dishes and knowing that she doesn’t wash her hands that means she’s spreading her feces around all the stuff and then putting it with clean dishes, nothing they eat out of is sanitary.

One of them has hair that sheds so much I’m surprised she has any left on her head and she leaves it everywhere!! On the bathroom sink in the shower on the kitchen counters. I even found several strands in the refrigerator which by the way I also deep cleaned because I didn’t feel comfortable, putting my food in there at the state that it was in. Old food, spills everywhere the kitchen rugs hadn’t been cleaned in God knows how long… I washed them. I swept and mopped the living room floor and I continue to do that. One of them in particular has seen me cleaning and has not offered to help.

And I don’t wanna give too much away because I think it’ll be really easy if one of them ever comes across this thread to know who I am, but there’s an animal in the house and she lets the animal do its business wherever it wants I found it in the kitchen sink and that’s what prompted me to get my own utensils and decided to never use the sink again. They’re absolutely filthy people and I know that everyone wasn’t raised with the same standard of cleanliness and maybe mine is even above and beyond, but I’ve just never lived in such filth.

The thing is, we already had a conversation about cleaning schedules when I first moved in and they said we all clean up after each other and we’ll take the trash out whenever we see it, but now I’m starting to think “clean up after each other” just means that they want me to clean up after them and I think that’s what they’re used to in a roommate, is them being so dirty that the other person just does it.

Unfortunately for them, I’m very petty and I’m not gonna do it. I will use all my own stuff and never touch theirs and only clean things that we share before I wash another dish for them again so the countdown is on we’ll see how long it takes them to wash the sink out of the pets “business” that was in there.

I absolutely know that at the end of this I won’t be renewing this lease and I’m just going back-and-forth on if I want to live alone next because I don’t think I could do this again. I’m trying to keep the peace for the next 11 months and move on with my life.

Any suggestion on how I do that are much welcome 😅

Also, they’re older than me and in their 30s which I thought was a guaranteed they would be clean people, but I guess that isn’t true

i have started to hate my friend since we moved in together

im a jr in college and this is my first year living in an apartment. the previous years of college i lived in double dorms. i decided to get an apartment with one of my friends who i’ve never lived with before this year and assumed there would be no problems since whenever i visited her room it was very tidy. somehow i was wrong.

she keeps her room clean but when it comes to all other common areas its a disaster. she leaves her dishes in the sink for days. whenever she cooks she doesn’t clean up after herself - ie she doesn’t wipe the counter down or sweep up food she spilled on the floor. she once wiped her mouth with the hand towel we use to wipe our hands and didn’t replace it. we live w two other girls and have a cleaning schedule where one of us is supposed to clean one area of the apartment a week and my friend does not adhere to it at all. she only does it if someone verbally reminds her and then she’ll throw out an excuse “ive been busy/i forgot/i had midterms bla bla bla” and then continues not doing anything to help out around the house. me and the other roommates have talked to her about her skipping out on chores 4+ times and yet again this past week she hasn’t done shit.

she also has a propensity to use other people’s food and ingredients without asking. one week when she was sick she used all of my roommates tea for her throat without asking. keep in mind, this tea was stored in the roommates BEDROOM and not in a common area, so she actively dug through somebody elses stuff without asking. the other roommate talked to her about this and she agreed to ask next time. then a few weeks later she texted me asking if she could use my rice and when i didn’t reply because i was in class literally taking an exam, she used it anyway because she ASSUMED i would say yes.

we used to jive together so well but i can’t stand her anymore. i am sad and frustrated at this situation. i miss not knowing how gross my friend is.

First time apartment, I know im not insane

So I (19F) and my friend J (19M) moved into studied housing. About one week later, a new and unexpected roomate P (20M) moved in. Issues immediately started.

P could never keep track of his keys so he would call me every night at around 2 am to let him in. He would call multiple time in the night so putting my phone on sleep mode would just result in 6-7 calls at once. For him to stop I had to block him entirely, though that didn't keep him from trying. He later used Js number to let him in and when J got tired he used emergency lockout calls so the apartment employees would let him in at night. I learned from the property manager that he has had about 4 keys made within the month he has moved in. During this time he used our dishes and utensils to eat and never washed them, and ate our food, includong half a pizza I ordered without asking. He would make insane messes he would never clean so we were cleaning up after him. He would fill the trash immediately after J or I would take it out, and he would never take it out himself. This caused smell and gnats around the house.

A final straw broke when he brought one of his friends past midnight on a school day to 'make tic toks' resulting in loud unnecessary stomping. When confronted the cause a nearly 1 hr fight in making excuses, where his friend was mainly speaking for him. And he made multiple excuses such as "im only 20 it's my first time adulting".

After this he cleaned the sink and maintained his own key, however he continues to make noise past midnight, cause messes he never cleans, and apparently according to J, purposely left his key in the keyhole to the door to the apartment. When addressed he told J to simply bring it to his room.

The last mess he made, he used one of my bowls to make a ceral, and rather than throw the food away left it in the sink. I was leaving for the 5 day fall break we had, and when I came back, his food was left molding in the sink. When J told him to clean it, he apparently gave an attitude and barley cleaned it days later. He did such a poor job that my sponge that he used started to grow it's own mold as well.

He doesn't have the sight or initiative to do something as simple as removing it, so I had to throw it away. He also left crumbs on the counter along with a burnt pan he didn't even put in the sink. He also has a habit of using anything but violet paper to flush, so we've had 3 maintence request within 2 months. He acts like im crazy for being mad at his nonsense, and considered me rude for telling him not to call me at night to let him in. (He had to sleep in his car one night but still did not get his key fixed until the fight). Im currently documenting to get him removed. Im not overreacting right?

TLDR: my roomate is older than me but has the cleanliness and responsibility of a young child, and we have to clean after him, who leaves the biggest messes.

how to tell your roommates to clean without becoming their parent???

it feels impossible to communicate with my roommates without falling into a sort of parental role where i have to remind them to do everything.

we haven’t been living together long and i’ve already had to remind them multiple times to keep up on their dishes. our sink is a decent size but very shallow, so when there’s a lot of dishes it becomes nearly impossible to use. every time i remind them they’ll go crazy cleaning up for a day and then their efforts will slowly decrease until we’re back where we started. we have a perfectly fine dishwasher, but for some reason they don’t use it despite me reminding them about it as well.

another issue is that they leave a mess behind them
in the kitchen every day. dirty pans will be left on the stovetop, crumbs everywhere, dishes left on the coffee table, etc etc. and they cook A LOT. i wake up to a dirty kitchen, i clean it, i come home to a dirty kitchen, i clean it again, and the cycle repeats itself.

i recently downloaded a roommate app that has a digital chore schedule feature and asked if they all would download it and give it a try since no one kept up with our previous attempt at a chore chart. so far only one person has joined and i’m not optimistic.

i know communication with roommates is essential, but how do i effectively tell them to clean up after themselves without becoming the mom of the household? i can’t force them to adhere to a schedule and i don’t want to constantly send text reminders about things that should be common courtesy…so what do i do? is there even a solution to this?

Finally free…

I’ve been lurking on this subreddit for so long, taking comfort in the fact that I’m not alone. I’ve been sharing a house with a roommate for two years, and this experience has put a serious strain on my mental health. I wish I left earlier, but the place was such a steal for the price and I was making so little money. I finally got a new job and now I’m moving to my own apartment. It’s nearly twice my current rent but I’m okay with it.

At first it wasn’t so bad, but then I guess she started having issues with her mental health. I understood because I have some issues myself, but this was insane. She never cleaned, she would leave used tissues with blood and poop in the toilet trash that had no cover. She would cook and leave the pot and dishes on the sink and stove for dayssss until I couldn’t take it anymore and had to practically beg her to clean. She moved in her boyfriend without asking anyone and they would have obnoxiously loud sex. They would cook in the middle of the night and make so much noise, and I’m not a light sleeper so you can imagine how loud they were. The worst part is that when I would talk to her about stuff she would act like she understood but never followed through.

So many times I thought I was crazy for asking for basic decency. I’m only two years older, but I’ve had roommates since I was 18 and I’ve never experienced this or behaved like this. I’m 23 now. Anyways here’s to freedom and peace. I hope everyone here gets in better situations.

i’m stink averse

TL;DR - Stinky roommates blehh! how do i navigate my musty and carnivorous roommates without seeming offensive or naggy?

i’m probably a tad more bothered by bad smells than the average, and unfortunately i live in the most expensive city, so there isn’t the option to have my own place.

i have two roommates(we’re all female) that i sublease rooms to, and unfortunately, i’m damn near a house manager at this point, cause no one really takes initiative around here. but i’m very generous and collaborative and don’t want to seem too particular about how they experience our shared living.

one thing that i can’t figure out is the horrible smells. bad odor is immediately irritating to me and it’s become quite uncomfortable at this point.

one of the roommates was profusely musty for a while. i would count maybe one or two showers a week, and she never ventilated her room, so her stinky business would waft its way into the hallway and through the vents into my room. like i’d be suffocating. thankfully i convinced her to crack her f*cking window and blamed it on our HVAC lol. so this has been somewhat resolved for now(winter is coming🫩)

problem now is, our newer roommate has been here about a month, and she cooks a hell of a ton, mostly meat based dishes. it’s important to note that i’ve been meat free for almost 12 years now, but that’s never been a problem because all my previous roommates have cooked and eaten meat.

she eats a concerning amount of meat, the dishes are like 70% beef, my fridge and freezer has a bunch of meat staring at me. very unpleasant. but my biggest concern is the smell. i’m not usually opposed to the smell of cooked meat, but idk what the hell she’s doing to it. hers consistently smells disgusting. i can only describe it as the smell of boiled meat we would make for our dogs dinner back home. like.. girl, you said you’re making lasagna right ??

the smell is then drenched EVERYWHERE. the furniture, the kitchen surfaces and sink, my bedroom even. at its worst, it’s taken me three days to get rid of the smell. and trust me, i have every mechanism you could think of for odors.

obviously i can’t control her diet. and ive told her i’m lowkey sensitive to odor, so we’ve since discussed that she try to ventilate better, wipe the surfaces, air fresher. but even her microwaving her leftovers is just as bad. my room currently stinks!

what should i do? i work from home, and she’s seemingly home a lot and cooks daily

Am I being dramatic, or are my college roommates excluding me and taking advantage of me?

I’m 18F and a freshman in college. I live in a dorm with four other girls, and I’m honestly starting to dread being around them.
When we first moved in, everyone was nice. We all got along, but I noticed pretty quickly that the other girls were becoming much closer to each other than they were to me. At first, I figured that was normal and friendships would develop naturally, but it’s been getting worse. They have their own group chats, send each other TikToks and Instagram posts constantly, have inside jokes, and make plans together. I’m never included in any of that. I’ll ask if anyone wants to get lunch or dinner, and they always say no. Then they’ll go eat together later, sometimes when I’m not there. When we’re all hanging out, I feel like I have to practically beg to be included in conversations.
What really bothers me is that they’re perfectly comfortable asking me for things.
They constantly ask to use my makeup, eat my food, borrow my stuff, and have me cover things when they don’t have money. I’ve paid for their stuff multiple times and shared pretty much everything. But they rarely offer me anything in return, even though they share with one another.
They’ve even started involving my family. They wanted to get dressed up and go to a nice dinner, but nobody had money. They told me to text my older sister and ask her and her husband to take us all out and pay. They even said they wanted to check my phone to make sure I actually asked.
Then, when my sister agreed, they said she better not bring her baby because babies are annoying. I got mad because how are you going to expect someone to pay for your dinner and then dictate whether they can bring their own child?
They also keep asking to come to my family’s house for Halloween and Thanksgiving and expect my sister to DoorDash things for us.
The comments they make about me are another issue.
I’m pretty skinny and work out regularly. Some of my roommates constantly make comments about my weight, what I eat, and how often I exercise. They’ve also made comments about me taking an SSRI, saying I shouldn’t be taking medication for the rest of my life.
I’m Christian, and they’ve made comments about my religion being fake.
Race has also become uncomfortable. My roommates are Black, and and I'm the only white one. They’ve made comments about hating white people, joked about me being white, and made remarks directed at me about white privilege. They’ve also openly said they wanted me to help them get into certain parties because I’m white.
I’m not saying every conversation about race is an attack, and I don’t know if race is the reason they exclude me. But the comments directed at me have made me uncomfortable.
What happened this weekend was honestly my breaking point.
A group of us went to get food with one roommate’s mom. Everyone was going, but I wasn’t invited until I asked about it.
I originally wasn’t even planning on going because I wanted to do homework, but they pushed me to come.
Everyone got a food except me because I didn’t have money. I’ve covered things for them before, but nobody offered to get me anything. That alone wasn’t a huge deal, but combined with everything else, it hurt.
There weren’t enough seats in the car, so they had me sit on someone’s lap, complained about that, and later wanted me to ride in the trunk/cargo area.
The entire time, they talked to one another and barely acknowledged me. Every time I tried joining a conversation, I felt ignored.
We eventually went shopping, and they all split into little groups and walked around together while I was basically alone.
I mentioned wanting to visit my sister, who works at one of the stores, and they got annoyed and told me to wait because they wanted to meet her.
I eventually went to see her, broke down crying, and my mom came and picked me up. Nobody has reached out to ask if I’m okay.
There are also things they do that make me uncomfortable in general.
They can be really disruptive in public, leave messes for other people, and rarely clean up after themselves. I’ve also personally witnessed some of them taking other students’ clothing from the communal laundry room without permission. They’ve openly talked about doing it, too.
Even my actual bedroom roommate expects me to go to breakfast with her every morning, but then I feel excluded by her when everyone else is around.
I’m honestly exhausted. I feel like I’m constantly trying to be funny, nice, generous, or interesting enough for them to include me. It’s starting to affect how comfortable I feel in my own dorm.
I’ve decided I’m going to stop paying for their things, sharing everything, constantly asking them to hang out, and trying so hard to join conversations. I’m starting a new job soon, and I’d rather work, save money, get involved on campus, and meet people who actually want to be friends with me.
I don’t want drama because I still have to live with these girls for the rest of the school year.
Am I overreacting? Should I just quietly distance myself and treat them like roommates instead of friends? Has anyone else dealt with something similar during freshman year? Would talking to my RA help, or would that make living together worse?

Serious AITAH disagreement with flatmate over vacating property

TLDR: My flatmate gave me less than 24 hours’ notice that pest control would be returning tomorrow, clashing with my major JP Morgan interview. I asked to rearrange, but she insists treatment must happen tomorrow and offered to pay for a work café, which I’ve explained isn’t suitable. I suggested alternatives, including contacting the person who brought the infestation in, but she took offence. I understand bedbugs are serious, but I feel my circumstances deserve consideration too. Am I being unreasonable for refusing to leave my room during my interview?

**Conversation below is after flatmates ex brought bedbugs into the house. He paid for an initial fumigation two weeks ago where I despite being freshly out of the shower I vacated the house within 20 minutes after being informed that the fumigation could not go ahead with any people in the house. I gave her grace and vacated because I realise it was a misunderstanding and wasn’t doing anything anyways so not trying to cause issues for no reason, if I didn’t have the interview, I’d literally go gym or something.**

**Flatmate 1**
Also love the pest control guys are coming back tmr for a spray tmr from 9-1pm, should know more tomorrow
Not sure if it’s the whole house again but will clean everything after that

**Flatmate 2**
Ahhh is it possible to rearrange if it’s not too late? I have an interview on teams at 11 tmr and then a call with another recruiter at 12 so I need to be in my room locked in 😭😭😭

I have the in person interview on Wednesday if we can move it back by one day?

I wont be hereeee

**Flatmate 1**
Let me see it could be fine for u to be here

**Flatmate 2**
Okok thank you mamass

**Flatmate 1**
They are saying that they need to come tomorrow cause any later means that things can hatch and it cause bigger problems - had to be from two weeks since the initial visit
I’m just seeing if they can allow u to stay in ur room

**Flatmate 2**
Okok thank you! It’s just vital from 11 - 11:45, because it’s a call with JP Morgan so v serious
And it’s a role that I was a runner-up for and didn’t get but they’re now expanding the team so there’s a chance if I do well I might just get the job straight up
Since I’ve done all the other stages previously
Even if they come later like from 12-4 I can be out for the recruiter call at 12 that’s less serious

**Flatmate 1**
they only give slots from 9-1
but ive let them know youll bein ur room
Argh
They can’t confirm when he is coming and I’ve asked for it to be closer to 1
But they have said they will mark the service as done if u stay in the house whilst it happens
The fumes aren’t fumes for u i don’t want it to effect ur studies
But this bed bug treatment rlly needs to be done
Any chance it’s safer for u to go a working space and I can cover the cost ?

**Flatmate 2**
Noo don’t worry I don’t mind at all as long as I can be in my room, I’m happy to literally put a towel under the door and open a window
I wouldn’t mind if it was studying, but it’s just because it’s an interview I will be way too distracted in a public place and I need to lock in so bad

**Flatmate 1**
Ok only thing is they won’t do the treatment if you’re in the house so I’ll lose out on that money
We can try make it seem like you’re not home
And idk what their eta is until 15 min before
So it is risky business cause I can’t not have them not do the treatment - best case it’s near 9, I’ve asked them to come for 1 but they can’t guarantee

**Flatmate 2**
I think it’s best to honestly just tell them to do the day after or another day where possible because it’s not worth losing the money and my entire priority tomorrow morning is going to be preparing for the interview as well so I can’t have any stress with them knocking on the door or anything like that especially leading up to or in the middle of the call
It’s a bit crazy like did they not confirm the date? They can’t just message you the day before and be like we’re coming tomorrow

**Flatmate 1**
They can’t move it
Without charging for a whole new treatment
I hear you they let you know pretty late. I could have told you sooner as well i didn’t think you had anything on

**Flatmate 2**
I guess we’ll just have to have a honest conversation with them tomorrow, but really just need to stress that I can’t have them knocking on the door cause this job would pay me like 80K 💀
Happy to say that to them though

**Flatmate 1**
I already spoke to them plenty times today
They won’t do any treatment if you’re in and they’ll note it as complete
They need to complete it when they come cause having a pest control issue that effects my sleep is major! It could potentially effect u as well if they don’t finish this last step

**Flatmate 2**
I know you mentioned (her ex who brought the bedbugs in in the first place) is paying, is it worth talking to him about having to book another treatment for the day after even if it needs to be paid for again. I understand you assumed that I didn’t have anything going on but I do and this is not something I can be told about the day before and not something small either that I’m going to risk being distracted for when I have already made a concrete plan for a very important interview given the position I’m in re employment. I also agree it needs to happen, but it’s just not possible for me to be out of the house at that time tomorrow and there’s no way I’m going to ask JP Morgan to reschedule on the day when i could’ve made previous accommodations had we discussed this earlier

**Flatmate 1**
I’m shocked your solution involved me reaching out to my toxic ex ?? In what world do you think I would break contact and he would willingly pay another £600 for a treatment? How is that even a solution that takes any bit of my mental health into consideration? Why is your job interview being the only thing that’s considered?
They follow up two weeks after the treatment and it did not cross my mind at all considering everything going on. It’s two weeks so any leftover eggs have the ability to hatch and any mature ones have the ability to grow without laying any new eggs. Any longer and you risk re infestation. I do not have a spare £600 to spare to get this service booked in and the toll of not having this treatment completed will have a bigger consequence on both our livelihoods and mental states than changing the location you do a job interview at ?
I’ve apologised for the tardiness and volunteered a viable solution which is paying for entry for a work cafe that can accommodate your work interview.
Listen I don’t want to fight, I know tmr is a big deal for you and I want to honor that but we need a solution that allows both parties to be considered properly

**Flatmate 2**
I think you’re misinterpreting my suggestion. I assumed that, given the seriousness and urgency of the situation, a purely administrative conversation could take place despite there being no contact, without any emotional involvement. I’m happy to contact him myself, and I was in no way suggesting that you should pay for another treatment. If he was the person who brought the issue into the property, responsibility for addressing it would also lie with him.
I appreciate the apologies for the tardiness, but I’ve said repeatedly that this is not a viable solution for me, because that is not where I will perform at my best.
I also don’t think it’s fair to frame this as me only considering my interview. I pay for the space I live in and have every right to choose to conduct an important interview there, where I’m most comfortable and focused. The fact that it could technically be done elsewhere doesn’t make that any less valid. I understand the urgency of the treatment, but my circumstances and commitments deserve consideration too.
Ultimately, I will not be vacating the property tomorrow. That is not up for debate at this stage, and regardless of how we move forward with the treatment, we need to establish a solution that respects that. I’m willing to help find a practical way forward, but I cannot be expected to compromise on my own commitments on short notice when this could have been discussed earlier.
Of course I don’t want to fight either, I don’t consider this fighting at all, just a v important conversation and I’m happy to work around any other solution together

**Flatmate 1**
There isn’t another solution

**Flatmate 2**
I’m happy to contact (ex), that is another solution as I mentioned since he brought the infestation in

**Flatmate 1**
That’s not a solution, he doesn’t take accountability for that and it will cause more of a mess for me to clean up
Having bed bugs is not an issue i can continue having, the treatment has to go ahead tmr
I asked for them to come for 1pm but there is no guarantee
If they can’t come complete it tomorrow they won’t take another booking for an additional two weeks as this one will be marked as completed

**Flatmate 2**
I’ve explained my position, and I don’t want to continue discussing this tonight. Regardless of how we move forward, I will not be vacating my room tomorrow. We can discuss practical arrangements another time including looking at another company if they’re not available for two weeks. I’m sorry for (exs) lack of accountability, but the last thing I’m letting that affect is a major job opportunity.

**Flatmate 1**
No job interview can and should be prioritised over a pest control issue that effects your sleep and can spread to your room
You have every right to be upset at how late the notice is but to allow that to get in the way of the treatment is unreasonable
I’ll let you know when they’re 15 min away

**Flatmate 2**
This is about the principle as much as the interview. I’m happy for you to let me know when they’re 15 minutes away, and if they knock, I’ll have an honest conversation with them and make it clear that I will not be leaving, regardless of the consequences. If two weeks hasn’t made a difference to the treatment, neither will 24 hours or four hours, which is all I’m trying to postpone it by. I’ve made my position clear, and again I don’t intend to discuss this any further tonight.

genuinely hate living with my flatmates and I feel so fucking trapped

I'm so fucking done with this flat and I genuinely don't know what to do anymore.

My flatmates are so unhygienic it's actually driving me insane. The dishes stay in the sink for DAYS, they're not even washed properly when they finally decide to wash them, the dustbin is barely emptied, and the entire kitchen is just a mess. And apparently, if it's their utensil, they'll wash it whenever they feel like it, even if that means leaving it in the sink for four days straight. Like??? Do you people not understand that you SHARE this space with other people? The sink doesn't magically stay clean just because the dishes belong to you.

And the funniest part? They can apparently just call someone from Pronto to clean everything. Good for them, honestly, but I CANNOT AFFORD TO HIRE SOMEONE TO DO BASIC CLEANING EVERY SINGLE DAY. I'm a student. I have my own expenses. Why the fuck should I have to spend extra money because other people can't clean up after themselves? I moved into a shared flat, not a place where I have to pay someone to clean up after grown adults.

And my COOKER. It's literally MY cooker, and they use it and don't even clean it properly afterwards. I've reached the point where I don't even want to share it anymore.

The thing is, I've genuinely had typhoid before. I went through so much financially, mentally and physically because of it, and I really don't want to go through anything like that again. I'm not saying dirty dishes automatically give you typhoid, but is wanting a clean kitchen really that fucking unreasonable? I don't want to cook in a kitchen where everything is dirty, the sink is disgusting, and I have to second-guess whether my utensils are even clean.

And whenever this comes up, there's always some reason why people can't do basic things. I understand that people struggle with their mental health. I really do. But I have my own struggles too?? I'm not magically doing fine just because I'm still managing to go to college and deal with my responsibilities. Why is it that everyone else's problems have to be accommodated while I'm expected to just tolerate everything?

What makes this worse is that I feel TRAPPED. I can't just pack my bags and move out tomorrow. Moving costs money, finding another place costs money, and I genuinely don't have the luxury of making a new living arrangement every time something goes wrong.

I wish I'd known what living with these people would actually be like before moving in. I feel like I can't relax in my own home, and I'm already dealing with enough shit in my life without having to fight over BASIC HYGIENE.

I genuinely don't know what to do anymore. I can't afford to keep paying for other people's mess, I don't want to live like this, and I can't just leave right now either. I'm so fucking tired of feeling like I'm the only person who thinks keeping a shared space clean is a normal expectation.

Serious Came back from an 18-day vacation to find my roommate using my pillow, my groceries drained, and my dinner spoon filled with potting soil—while she plays completely dumb.

Am I being manipulated or just being delusional/paranoid over nothing??

At the beginning of this year, I moved to a new room with new roommate (after staying at communal room for nearly 2years). Our room has washroom and balcony attached to it . We were from 2 different communal rooms.

In the communal room I was assigned to, we were like free birds of same feather type. We gossip, hang out, even study together, laugh and cry together. My roommate's one was total opposite (they are more isolated). Funny thing is, we never had any incidence of stealing in our gonoroom(as you'd expect from hostel life), but the other communal room had different scenario.

Both friends of my current roommate had their money stolen several times in that room (they were the only victims).

Now after shifting to our new rooms, we (specially me) have started to face the problem I've never imagined I'd have to experience in my hostel life. Just after couple of months our money was stolen(mine more than 3k and my roommate's around more than 1k)! Mind you, the block I'm living in now is occupied by occupants of the other communal room I've mentioned (except me).

All of the block mates were called at night by us and they were all pointing fingers at "the lady" who collects waste materials from our hostel "during morning" (I didn't believe this shit cause wdym the stealing only happens where these people live and others are never affected by this). We had a suspect but didn't confront her (apparently her money was also stolen but none knew it before!).

Following 2 months, nothing happened (I started to keep my money locked after the last occurence). But one day after 2 months, I came from outside after noon and forgot to keep my money in the locker. So basically my wallet was on my table that entire day. I was at my friends room hanging out with them and also went for walk that night. After that, I came to my room and was getting ready for sleep. Then I noticed my money is gone!! My roommate was in the room the entire time (both time) and just went outside for max 10min (again both time).

Fast forward to today, after spending puja vacation (and pl) at home for about 18 days, I came back to my room at hostel and started organizing my bed, table and rack and my mind went blank!!

I found half bottle of newly bought oil empty, sauce almost empty. But most shockingly, my wheel powder (and the pot where I kept the powder also) gone, also she swapped my pillow while actively using mine. I was more than furious. Still with hope, I went to search in the balcony if the wheel powder was there. But there, on top of my folding table, I found my spoon (that I use for eating food) filled up with dried soil!! I was confused.

Btw my roommate didn't go home in this vacation because of exam. So she was the only one in our entire block who had access to our room. After confronting her, she just denied everything and put indirect blame to our helping hand! She only claimed that she used the spoon for collecting soil for her plant! And then forgot to wash it (today after seeing it on my wardrobe, she remembered and then she washed it).

Now I'm thinking whether she really doesn't know anything or just doing this to screw my mind. I also lose my stuff so often but she never does. This never happened when I was in gonoroom with my friends.

I'm just confused and tired rn. I have exam next week. I dont have any energy left.

Has anyone dealt with a roommate who secretly uses/steals your things and acts completely innocent? How did you confront them?

Just recently one of my friends has commented about me saying that I'm easy to manipulate. So-

Am I being manipulated or am I being delusional/ paranoid over nothing??

Roommate repeatedly violates my boundaries, then suggests I break my lease and move out. How would you handle this?

TL;DR: Roommate repeatedly disregards my boundaries, expects immediate responses to trivial household messages, and has double standards about cleanliness. After I reinforced my boundaries because she was pounding on my bedroom door, she apologized but then suggested I break my lease and move out. Her parents own the house, and I have no intention of leaving an affordable, otherwise great living situation because she can’t respect boundaries. Looking for advice on how to coexist with her without constantly getting dragged into conflict.

I live with two roommates, and one of them has become increasingly difficult to deal with. To complicate things, her parents own the house, although I have my own lease through July 2027. I want to mention I’ve lived with various people - both at home and abroad - and have never had any major issues. I’ve never had to explicitly set boundaries. I’ve never run into anyone like her.

For a while now, she’s been very particular about household chores and cleanliness, but there’s a pretty obvious double standard. She’ll leave dishes or personal belongings in shared spaces for days, yet make an issue out of me leaving something out. I clean up after myself, wash my dishes, wipe down counters, take out the trash, etc., so it’s not as though I’m refusing to contribute. Also, she kept confronting me about very minor things (like less than 1/4 tsp of protein powder on the counter) every single time I happened to run into her.
The bigger issue, though, is her behavior around communication.

She seems to expect acknowledgment of every household message she sends, regardless of how trivial it is. I’ve explained that I’m not always available to respond immediately, nor do I think every reminder warrants a response. I’m a full-time senior engineering student, a sister on hospice, and various health issues, and have plenty of other things demanding my attention.
Recently, she sent me messages about some missing measuring spoons (a tablespoon.) I was on the phone, and less than ten minutes after sending the messages, she started pounding on my bedroom door because I hadn’t responded.

I’ve previously communicated that I don’t want people knocking on my bedroom door over nonurgent matters, and that I’d prefer household concerns be addressed through our group chat. Her response was that if I wouldn’t communicate over text, she had no choice but to approach me in person.

Except I do communicate over text. I just don’t respond on demand.

I’ve also made it clear that I’m not comfortable with impromptu confrontations or two-on-one meetings. I’m perfectly willing to address legitimate household concerns, but I don’t want to be cornered into conversations without any notice. The male and female are friends - so I think I’m being reasonable about that? I offered to meet with them 1:1, but they declined that format. The male roommate is also almost always gone.

After the door incident, I sent a message reiterating those boundaries and explaining that I wouldn’t be responding to separate private messages about nonurgent household matters.

The next morning, she sent an apology saying she regretted making me feel unsafe, although she added that the interaction could’ve been handled better by both of us.

Then she said she didn’t think this was a healthy long-term living arrangement and attached an early lease termination agreement, telling me I could move out without penalty and receive my security deposit back.
I’m honestly pretty irritated by this.

First, she’s not my landlord. Her parents are. Second, I haven’t expressed any desire to terminate my lease. And third, I find it frustrating that after repeatedly disregarding boundaries I’ve communicated, her proposed solution is for me to take on the burden of finding somewhere else to live.

The location, rent, and quality of this house are considerably better than anything comparable I’ve found. Moving would almost certainly mean paying more for a less desirable place, not to mention the hassle of moving in the middle of an already demanding school year.

I don’t think roommates have to be friends. Frankly, at this point, I’d be perfectly happy keeping our interactions to a minimum, taking care of my responsibilities, and otherwise leaving each other alone.

I responded to her apology and lease termination proposal with, “Thanks for the apology and for the information.”

I’m not planning on moving, at least not anytime soon.
I’m curious what other people think. Am I being unreasonable about not acknowledging every household message? Does her lease termination offer come across as an attempt to push me out, or am I reading too much into it?

And for anyone who’s dealt with a roommate like this, how did you manage living together without constantly getting dragged into arguments? I’m considering just keeping things very brief and neutral from here on out.

Do you ever feel like you’re a bad roommate?

I have ADHD so sometimes I can be cluttered/disorganized, and it makes me insecure living with people. I always try to communicate that to roommates before moving in with them. I ask for their patience but I try my best to be self aware.

Sometimes I leave mail or jewelry on the counter for too long, I leave shoes by the front door, and leave old food in the fridge for too long. My room can be messy more often than not, but I know to keep the shared areas clean.

I try to make up for it by contributing to chores (I always make sure there isn’t a single dish in the sink every night), I’ll vacuum/sweep/dust 1x a week, and when I go grocery shopping every week I will buy my roommates their favorite drink and snack. Plus bills are always paid on time.

Came back after a two week vacation

I'm suspecting one of my dorm roommates could possibly be stealing my stuff.

I usually leave our room when I'm staying with some of my friends.

And I might be back when the weekend is over.

So since I'm very keen I can tell when my stuff has been moved around or used and it really pisses me off when someone uses my stuff without my permission cause if you ask its not like I'll say no.

The economy is already tuff and as a student its not easier.

Before I left i noticed this so I kept my foodstuff and snacks and valuables in my wardrobe.

And now that I'm back im finding the snack can opened and halfway empty and some of the drinks look like someone drank them.

I really don't feel like being petty cause its just food but its starting to piss me off cause I don't like people taking my stuff without permission.

So yeah, I'm suspicious especially since we have a new girl in our room and my other roommate who I'm more familiar with usually calls or texts me if she needs to borrow something so I wouldn't entirely accuse her.

I want to go about this very maturely because we all stay here together I want everything to be conducive without drama.

I'm this close enough to leasing some of my food with detergent when I leave the house.

So what do you guys think I should do?

How do I navigate living with a roommate who makes me feel unwelcome in my own home? Am I expecting too much?

I’m looking for some genuine, unbiased advice about my current living situation. I know there’s always two sides to every story, and I’m completely open to hearing if there’s something I could have handled differently.
For some background, I originally moved in with my current roommate, “Gracie,” in 2024. At the time, we lived with two other girls, and unfortunately, the living situation went downhill pretty quickly. Eventually, none of us were speaking, and the household became incredibly toxic and uncomfortable to live in. When our lease ended, we all went our separate ways.

Shortly after moving out, Gracie reached out wanting to smooth things over. We met for coffee and lunch, talked through our experiences in the previous household, and left things on good terms. Over the course of 2025, we actually became pretty close friends.
As our respective leases were coming to an end, we started discussing the possibility of living together again. Gracie wasn’t happy with her living situation, and I was looking for somewhere more affordable. At the beginning of 2026, we started touring apartments and eventually found a newly built complex where we even got to choose our unit.
I was genuinely excited. I thought I’d finally found somewhere within my budget where I could feel comfortable and at home.

Here’s where things started going wrong.
Gracie didn’t have established credit, so we weren’t able to qualify for separate leases. Instead, we had to sign a joint lease using my credit. At the time, I was stressed about finding somewhere to live because our leases were ending in a few months, and I didn’t think much of it.
Our new lease wasn’t set to begin until mid-July, but throughout the summer, Gracie became increasingly difficult to communicate with. She had received a promotion at work, was dealing with a lot of stress, and was spending most of her time at her boyfriend’s apartment.
I tried reaching out to make plans, go shopping for our new place, and, most importantly, establish some boundaries and expectations before moving in. After our previous roommate experience, I really wanted us to be on the same page.
Unfortunately, she became distant and cold, and eventually, I stopped reaching out altogether. By that point, we had already committed to the apartment, and backing out didn’t feel like a realistic option.
When moving day came, my mom even paid for Gracie’s movers because she was going through a difficult time financially.
Eventually, Gracie and I had a brief heart-to-heart. I expressed that I was beginning to question whether our friendship was compatible, although I was still happy to be roommates. I explained that her lack of communication had made me uncomfortable and unsure of where we stood.
She apologized and acknowledged that she hadn’t handled her stress well. However, she also told me that I hadn’t respected her boundaries and that I’d been “acting like a clingy boyfriend” throughout the summer.
That comment honestly caught me off guard because, from my perspective, I was simply trying to communicate with someone I was about to share a home and financial responsibility with.
Regardless, I took what she said seriously.

I’ve genuinely tried to adjust my own behavior.
She expressed that some of my behavior felt “invasive,” so I made a conscious effort to give her more space. This included things as simple as no longer asking how her day was when we’d pass each other in the apartment.
I also stopped reminding her to pick up her belongings from communal areas and stopped asking her to help with household chores as frequently because those conversations seemed to create tension.
Essentially, I started keeping to myself and trying to be as unobtrusive as possible.
For a while, I genuinely questioned whether I was the problem. I thought maybe I was expecting too much communication or that my behavior was contributing to the tension.
However, as time has passed, I’ve started to feel differently.

Our current living situation has become increasingly frustrating.
Her boyfriend is at our apartment practically 24/7. I rarely get to enjoy my own home without him being there, using the kitchen, occupying common areas, or contributing to messes.
I want to clarify that I don’t necessarily have an issue with her boyfriend personally. My frustration is with the situation itself, especially because Gracie also contributes to many of these problems.
I’m a full-time college student and work part-time, so having a peaceful, comfortable home is important to me.
One of my biggest requests was simply that she let me know when her boyfriend would be over. I wasn’t asking her to get permission every time or saying he couldn’t visit. I just wanted some communication about someone who is essentially a constant presence in our shared home.
She told me I was expecting too much and explained that because he’s in school, she hardly gets to see him, so I should understand why she wants him at the apartment.
I understand wanting to spend time with your significant other, but I also feel like I should have some say in how frequently another person occupies a home I’m financially responsible for.
Beyond that, she rarely contributes to household chores like washing dishes, taking out the trash, or wiping down shared surfaces. She leaves belongings in communal spaces and frequently stays up extremely late watching television loudly or talking on the phone.
I’ve tried expressing that I feel disregarded in our living situation, and the response is usually something along the lines of, “I’m sorry, I’ll try to fix that.”
Unfortunately, I haven’t noticed any meaningful changes.
Another difficulty is that she tends to take criticism very personally and becomes reactive during uncomfortable conversations. I recognize that she may have frustrations with me as well, but I don’t feel like there’s much room for an open discussion unless she’s the one initiating it.
At this point, I’ve started avoiding bringing things up altogether because I don’t want to create an even more uncomfortable living environment.

Now I’m worried about what happens next.
Our lease doesn’t end until July 2027, and I’ve already decided that I don’t want to renew it with her. I know that conversation will probably be difficult, and I’m anticipating some passive-aggressive behavior once I tell her.
There’s also another complication: her boyfriend is graduating in the spring and moving to another city for law school. Gracie originally moved to our town to be with him, and I have a feeling she may decide to follow him.
Selfishly, part of me hopes she does because I think we’d both be happier in different living situations.
However, I’m also worried that she might move out before our lease ends and leave me responsible for covering her portion of the rent. Our apartment was approved using my credit, and I’m concerned about what that could mean financially if she decides to leave early.
I don’t want to put her in a difficult position or intentionally make her life harder. Despite everything, I still care about her as a person. But I also feel like I’ve spent months prioritizing her comfort while sacrificing my own.
I’m frustrated because I was the one who secured this apartment for us, and now I feel unwelcome in my own home.

So, I’m looking for advice on a few things:

  1. Am I being unreasonable in expecting more communication, shared household responsibilities, and boundaries regarding overnight guests?
  2. Is there something I could have handled differently? I’ve tried adjusting my behavior to accommodate her boundaries, but I’m genuinely open to hearing if I’ve contributed to the problem.
  3. How should I approach telling her I won’t be renewing our lease without making the remaining months miserable?
  4. What steps should I take now to protect myself financially if she decides to move out before the lease ends?

  5. I don’t expect us to be best friends, and I understand that sharing a home requires compromise. I just want to feel comfortable in a space that I’m paying for.

  6. I would really appreciate some outside perspectives, especially from anyone who’s dealt with a similar situation. I’m not looking for people to automatically take my side. I genuinely want to know whether my expectations are reasonable and how I can handle this as maturely as possible.

If your roommate often pays rent late is that your business or not?

I was recently told by my roommate that if her rent is late, which it habitually is, then it has nothing to do with me. She stated she doesn’t owe me anything therefore, she doesn’t have to tell me.

Now, obviously I know we owe the person/people we live with and are legally bound together, the decency to know if or when our portion of the rent will be late or don’t have it. But, I want to see where the consensus lies outside of my brain because I was taken aback when my roommate stormed away after telling me that.

What do you guys think, do you owe your roommate courtesy or not?

Roomate won’t help around the apartment at all and I don’t know what to do

Im a 25 male and my roomate is a 24 year old female and she’s starting to treat this arrangement like a relationship where there is an expectation of me to take care of everything. She won’t take out the trash because it’s a “man’s job “ she won’t clean or vacuum because she’s a “princess who’s too tired “ and the list goes on and on.

I have been very direct with her that 1) I’m not her boyfriend or father to be doing everything 2) I have a girlfriend of my own and I certainly won’t be giving my roomate that same treatment and 3) that I’m not attracted to her lol and that because her looks work on other guys doesn’t mean she can expect the same from me .

it’s been like 5 months and it’s been like this still she think it’s funny when I call her out on it , my girlfriend is getting beyond fed up for me as well .

I don’t know how to handle this anymore.

WARNING - Gross New roommate leaves stains in toilet, doesn’t wash MY dishes after using them, is up late on his computer every night, etc.. How should I communicate this to him if polite communication has worked poorly for me in the past ?

I’m currently in my 4th year at my current apartment, both my old roommates moved out and my younger brother and a random guy moved in. Living with my brother has been great but the random guy is really bugging me. He’s been leaving massive poop stains in the toilet on a regular basis, leaving my dishes in the sink for days-weeks, plays computer games super loud until 2-3 AM almost every day, doesn’t pay for any of the household amenities (I buy all our paper towels, toilet paper, dish and hand soap, etc). I’ve been cleaning his poop stains out of the toilet, washing my dirty dishes that he used, and had to start sleeping with earplugs or a loud fan to drown out his late night gaming.

To be fair to him, I haven’t engaged him about any of this yet because it’s only been a couple months since he moved in, but I’m not sure how to. I had problems with cleanliness and splitting bills with my last roommates and I feel like I approached it very politely and professionally and they still got upset/were uncomfortable with it, and the problem usually only went away for a few weeks/months before returning, leading to another awkward discussion and tension. And those were people I was friends with. I don’t know this guy at all, I just found him on a looking for roommates Facebook page.

I am not sure how to go about communicating all of this to him. I’m not sure if I should dump all my qualms on him at once, bits and pieces, etc. I probably should’ve laid more ground rules when he moved in.

Serious Our Ex Roommate’s Psycho Girlfriend

About 5 years ago, a few friends and I (M22) were planning on moving into our friend J’s (M23) parent’s place with no formal lease agreement. A week before we move in J informs us that he has had an on and off girlfriend of 4 years who we were unaware of. The next day me and A (F22) meet J’s girlfriend G (F19). Within 5 minutes she had trauma dumped about her abusive relationship with her family. A and me were very uncomfortable and barely able to talk during the whole time we hung out with them. During the conversation it was briefly mentioned that she may eventually move in, but afterwards we made it clear to J we weren’t comfortable with that at this time. We also informed our other soon to be roommate C (M23) about her as well.

We all start to move in over the next two weeks but the G issue keeps coming up. She was planning on coming to stay for a long weekend as she lives out of state, J would drive to pickup her up. We were told by J that she was sick but still planning on coming over. We expressed that we did not want her to do so as the rest of us worked in either childcare or eldercare, and that A was having a surgery the following week, so none of us could afford to get sick. While on speaker phone with J, she threatened self harm over being told she can’t come due to her being sick. Despite our pleas, she came anyways with the promise of staying in J’s room as to not spread her germs, which didn’t work. G after coming down went to a doctor and tested positive for covid. A later tested positive for strep and covid which caused her to miss days of work and to reschedule her surgery.

A few days later as I am unpacking some boxes, she confided in me something that she did that “would make you all hate me”. She said she had popped multiple of J’s condoms and she thinks she may do it again. I try to get out of the conversation as quickly as possible and then informed C and A of what I was told and we quickly tried to plan how we would tell J. We later met with him out of the house and informed him of what we were told and our concerns about that and other things that we saw as abusive behavior from her. He seemed pretty much unbothered and it came off as if he expected this behavior.

All of that happened with about 4-5 days, but this stay quickly turned into a full week, then two, then a month. During that time we kept our distance from her as we were very uncomfortable and asked damn near daily when she was leaving. During this month there was a point where she sat on the floor and begged us to let her move in, but we, as politely as possible, said no and said we can revisit this conversation in a few months. We privately told J that we can revisit the conversation when she shows actual progress in her mental health. She openly stated thats why she was like the way she was, but also seemingly refused help at every turn.
A few months go by, more or less the same behavior but clearly kept a distance from us when she was over. On one trip, A had taken the time and even tried it sit down with her to look at insurance, self help, therapists, and coping mechanisms. G gave excuses for every option for an assortment of reasons. She had shown no signs of getting better but the conversation of her moving in kept coming up.

A couple months after that, we were informed with 24 hour notice that G had been kicked out of the place she was staying and would be staying with us for a bit until a friend of there’s had the space for her to move in. This plan quickly fell apart and she ended up just staying. We had no say in the matter and had to just deal with it.

We all tried to get along as best we could, some apologies on our side, trying to bond with shows, games, and art projects, and other than minor gripes everything seemed reasonable for a month or two. Then the minor gripes started to build resentment, G was too noisy, disrespectful of the public spaces, got in everyone’s personal space, etc. We started voicing our grievances again, and she seemed to spiral. On more than one occasion, we would get a text from J in the group chat randomly stating that the knives had been hidden and to talk to J when we needed them. In some point in all of this, she ran away and no one knew where she had gone to until the following day.

About this time, C and I started looking at other apartments together as we could no longer handle her. A at this time was also considering moving back home with her parents. I eventually decided to pull the trigger and move out on my own when plans with C fell through. Shortly as that, I had heard J and G were openly discussing what to do when everyone eventually leaves and then soon those conversations turned to how to get everyone to leave. They seemingly were more comfortable about talking like that near me as I was leaving, but not the others.

A week later, A was home with J and G when she heard them clearly arguing in the living room. She tuned most of it out, but heard pieces of it about self harm. During that, she yelled a J about having homicidal thoughts about everyone in the house. A then quickly packed a bag, texted me and C, and left. On the way out, J and G stopped A as she was leaving. A said she needs help, and G then proceeded to scream at her as she left. Later that day, C, A, and me had a talk face to face with J. We stated how uncomfortable we were and how bad the situation had gotten, but he seemed resigned to her side. We then decided we were all moving out within the week.
We all quickly started packing and by the weekend most everything was moved out. J had agreed to make the move easy and assist with moving furniture, but when I asked him to help with my stuff, he got drunk off his ass on my alcohol and was no assistance. G at one point went into A’s room without permission and bagged up almost all her room haphazardly while A was at work. Multiple items were unaccounted for a while, and one bag had hair dye tossed into it which ruined almost everything inside.

We all left and cut contact with both of them immediately after. It’s been years since this happened and A, C, and myself are in much better places. We haven’t heard or seen anything about J and G since.

TLDR: Roommate’s girlfriend with unmedicated mental issues moves in randomly. Causes massive issues and openly stated she has homicidal thoughts, causing us all to move immediately.
