Does anyone have any recommendations for places that ship to Alaska and don’t cost an arm and a leg? Just wanted some 18650s for a new to me flashlight.

This was Liion Wholesale

Anyone have experience using a Sodium-Ion battery bank yet?

I saw that Bluetti is making sodium-ion batteries now. Has anyone bought one yet? It's really interesting to me that they aren't affected by temperature like lithium. Could be useful for me for extreme weather overlanding. Who has experience using sodium-ion technology?

The px-4 have two internal battery packs. One 4.8V 90mah 67mm long and with a diameter of 14mm. That battery is required for the computer to run. The other is a four cell pack with 4.8V 500MAH. Some help finding a replacement preferably in Europe would be appreciated!

Silver additive helps new battery retain 90% capacity after 200 cycles

Thumbnail interestingengineering.com
7 Upvotes

HKUST researchers used a silver-based additive to make lithium deposit more evenly inside an anode-free battery, while forming a more stable protective layer that may reduce dendrite growth. The design reached 467 Wh/kg in a pouch cell, while a separate coin cell retained 90% capacity after 200 cycles—promising results, but not yet proof of commercial-scale durability. Could this interface-focused approach finally make high-energy anode-free batteries practical, or is 200 cycles still too limited?

How to dispose lithium ion laptop battery in country that doesn’t have disposal/recycle options?

I have Dell 42 Wh Standard Rechargeable Battery that doesn’t hold a charge past a couple of minutes. i need to dispose of the battery on my own. I’ve called local computer repair services, googled it, and can’t find anywhere that accepts old batteries.

does soaking it in a saline solution for a couple of days work? or is that only for LiPo batteries?

Possible slight bulge in battery (Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5g, 2 years old), should I change it?

Hey all, I had a doubt.

I was bored and started cleaning my phone, for which I removed the back case and all that. While feeling the phone with my hand I could feel a slight bulge in the back panel below the camera housing, it wasn't extreme but not flat either (can't confirm if the entire battery area was bulged, but I could feel it in the area specified).

Visibly, you cannot confirm if there is a bulge, you get the " maybe it's bulged" feeling. Took it to a technician, he did an external inspection and said the same thing, the back panel is intact and the slight bulge is noticeable only by touch, he said I can use it and it's not necessary to replace it, so this is my dilemma, idk if I should change it or not.

Note: Battery backup is as new, no overheating.

Slight warming only when it's in the "MI TURBO CHARGE" mode, no random power offs, works like new.

What is y'all's take on this?

Ebike charger(42v) thinks battery is full when >40.8v then won't start charging (but if it was charging already, it goes on to 42)

Hello I'm not asking for advice here, I could just buy a new charger. But I'm interested in learning what could be causing such a weird silly little problem here!

So the whole system is for a maximum of 42 volts. 42 volts is a full battery, and the CV phase of the charger. 1. When I plug this charger into the battery, it charges all the way up to 42.0 Volt no problem. 2. But if the battery is above 40.8 volt before plugging it in, the charger won't start. 3. Then a way to "kickstart" the charger is to plug it in, nothing happens, then I throttle the ebike for 1 second with the wheels lifted which causes the battery voltage to dip a little bit, now the charger will start its job and charge normally and go all the way up to 42 volt eventually. (not immediately, maybe thats important to know too)

The charger has 3 pins so I guess the 3rd is either communication, or nothing.

What could be possibly a reason why the charger won't initialize the charging process if connected above 40.8 volt?

Important to note: in the past this charger worked normally. I also have another charger of the same brand that also works normally so there is not a problem with the battery.

Huawei LUNA2000-5-E0 – Alarm 3006, Cause ID 17 – Has anyone experienced this issue?

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for some advice from other Huawei LUNA2000 owners who may have experienced a similar issue.

I have a Huawei LUNA2000 15 kWh battery system (3 × LUNA2000-5-E0 modules) connected to a Huawei inverter.

Recently, one of the battery modules (the middle one, Battery 2) suddenly reported the following error:

  • Alarm ID: 3006
  • Cause ID: 17
  • Description: Abnormal battery expansion module
  • Severity: Major
  • Battery status: Fault

The affected module still reports:

  • SOC: 25%
  • Voltage: 52.5 V
  • Power: 0 W
  • Temperature: approximately 30°C

The other two modules are operating normally.

Some background:

  • The affected module is approximately 2 years old.
  • It has discharged around 2,767 kWh in total.
  • My normal minimum SOC is configured at 35%.
  • During a power outage, the backup system is allowed to discharge down to 15%.
  • The batteries normally charge to 100% daily.
  • The module has never been opened, modified, or physically damaged.
  • Everything is managed automatically through the Huawei inverter and BMS.

My questions:

  1. Has anyone encountered Alarm 3006 with Cause ID 17 on a Huawei LUNA2000?
  2. What was the actual cause? Faulty cells, BMS, internal electronics, or something else?
  3. Was Huawei able to resolve the issue remotely, or did the module need to be replaced?
  4. If you experienced this under warranty, did Huawei approve the replacement?
  5. Has anyone successfully repaired one of these modules outside the official Huawei service network?

I'm particularly interested in understanding whether this error necessarily indicates damaged battery cells or whether it could be an electronic/BMS issue.

Any experiences, technical insights, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Help with Energizer PPS300W2 Power Station Error Code 06

Not sure if the is the best place to post, but let me try!

Wonder if anyone has suggestions on how to repair my Energizer PPS300W2 Power Station? Was using it the other day, may have drained the battery, but measuring the battery shows it is not dead, getting 13 volts. That was measured directly at the battery, inside the power station.

My issue is the power station is displaying error code 06, which appears to be over/under temperature. The battery was in our camper at 45-55F so temp does not make sense to me.

Anyone have a clue how to reset the electronics in this thing? I can not see anything obvious.

Manuals just say to let the battery come back to proper temperature. 3 days in the house now and still does not work. Tried charging with high voltage as I saw mentioned somewhere (25V), still no good.

Battery sizes and voltage

Im having a hard time finding an answer. Are battery sizes and voltages fixed? For example can i find a 3.6V AA size battery? If they are fixed is that to eliminate the chance of putting a higher voltage battery into a lower voltage device? Also, with different chemistries. Are certain chemistries only available in certain sizes? If i have a NiCd at 3.6V in a certain size, what are the chances of finding a lithium battery in the same size at the same voltage?

Edit: ill try and be more specific. Are battery sizes and voltage relationships some type of standard? Can i ONLY find AA size batteries in 1.5V for instance. If my razors NiCd 4/5SC is a certain size will i be able to find another chemistry in the same size and voltage

Power Bank Battery

Post image
5 Upvotes

Update:

I took it to a Batteries Plus the next morning and they took it. It was 15 dollars, but I'm glad to be rid of it.

Original Post:

Was going through my drawer and found my power bank like this. It completely expanded, I took the rest of the lid off and put electrical tape around it. It's now in a ziploc bag under my bathroom sink. I didn't want to put it outside since it's extremely hot where I live. Is this safe until I can go dispose of it tomorrow? I don't have sand or anything. Is it safe enough for me to transport it with the electrical tape and ziploc or should I put it somewhere else?

Wiring a new battery in parallel with a dying one

there! I have a machine at work with two lead-acid (TPPL) batteries wired in series. One of these batteries is failing, and I want to improve the runtime of the machine.

It's really funny how many replies I get that aren't relevant. Thanks for everyone that offered relevant insight. If you're also seeking the same answers, I'll compile what I found useful in the comments.

My idea is to take some smaller 12v lead-acid batteries lying around and wire them in parallel to the dying battery, with a diode so that the dying battery won't charge into the "support" batteries.

I've done some quick research prior and stumbled upon another reddit post here where the common advice was to "not do this". Can someone explain this to me?

The "support" batteries are sacrificial and smaller, and I don't want the dying battery to provide any power except to the machine.

Edit: I KNOW replacement is the best option. It's just not available to me, and I just want this thing to work.

Trouble finding a battery

I’m looking for a battery that is 14.8V, and 8,000 mAh (118.4Wh); rechargeable, protected (BMS, cell balancing, temperature monitoring). I’m actually back and forth between 8,000 mAh and 7,000 mAh.

I need it as small and compact as possible.

I’ve searched the internet, and I just don’t know where to find it.

This is from an old transmitter I have and I plan on using it again for a new project. Would this be cleanable or is it too far gone and how should I fix this?
