I've been enjoying rummaging around different mechs and came across this badass 60 tonner and saw on Sarna.net the different Succession Wars refits and just thought to myself "really don't cut the mustard and keep the spirit of the mech".
So i decided to give it an old mech warrior try and find a design that would keep this mech in service and keep it a fast heavy.
First off the XL360 engine has to go but i want to keep it's speed up. So a 300 power plant is needed. But an XL 360 is 16.5 tons and a 300 is 19 tons. So i need tonnage.
I thought at first to sacrifice one of the large lasers but realized that wouldn't be enough so i pulled the PPC and bought 7 tons.
I put 2.5 to the engine which keeps it at 86kph, half a ton more to armor and that leaves 4 tons. One more medium laser and then 3 more single heatsinks to 16.
This actually keeps a respectable firepower, good heat sinking and decent speed with ok armor protection with 10 tons of armor.
This allows the mech to fire both large lasers with only a 2 heat build up on the run, so every 3rd turn lay off a large laser at range the up close it can fire a large and both mediums and be heat neutral. Which i call pretty damn good.
Or you could pull a large laser for say an SRM6 with 1 ton of ammo and one more ton of armor for some crit seeking at close range which offers options which might be a nice trade.
But what do you think? How could we find builds to keep our friend The Lancelot alive during the Succession Wars?
Let me know your thoughts and let's get this discussion started.
Edit: Someone gave an idea so we're gonna run with it. 300 Engine, 12 Heatsinks, 9.5 tons of armor. Keep the PPC, 2 medium lasers, pair of SRM4s with 1 ton of ammo, 3 MGs with a shared ton of ammo. Could be a fun setup.
