Looking for someone to build a custom mount for my grandmother's handwoven wall hanging

My grandmother wove this piece and it's been stuck in storage. I'd like to finally get it on a wall, but it needs a custom mount and I don't know who to hire.

Details:
• 30.5" wide x 107" long, about 20 lbs
• Thick roving, long knotted fringe, stones woven in, and two small wood pieces that need reattaching
• My ceilings are 107" too, so the top ~20" needs to run onto the ceiling and turn the corner with a rounded bend, not a sharp fold

If you make armatures or mounts for fiber work, or know someone who does, send me a quote. Students and recent grads are welcome. Happy to bring it by in person.

DM me or comment, thanks!

Why is the county health department such a mess?

There are countless articles detailing the years of mismanagement the health department has suffered through. I won't repeat all the details here, but here's some background: https://bsquarebulletin.com/health-administrator-fired-plans-wrongful-termination-suit-against-monroe-county/

My question is WHY? Monroe County is home to a semi-respected university with a School of Public Health. The county has money, countless educated people live here and vote and serve on relevant boards and committees. Why, despite all this, has everyone just stepped back and allowed this big obvious slow-moving disaster to snowball? There must be a reason, someone please give me the dirt.

New to the area - looking to connect

Hey all! I moved to the area with my wife a couple months ago and need to find community. Looking for friends or recommendations for places to connect.

33(m), non-religious, married, have 2 cats and plenty of house plants. I like to paint/do art, play drums, play sports (I don’t watch/follow sports), hike, fix/make stuff, game (Helldivers 2 and sandstorm insurgency have been games of choice lately). I’m down to grab coffee, a drink, have a fire, hike or just hang out

I was informed on my last post that it was actually a waxing gibbus last night and not a true full moon, but tonight we definitely got that beautiful, full Hunter's Moon. Shot on my OM System OM-3 with the OM System 600mm lens and post processed in Lightroom.

Dog friendly bars and social hangouts

• Upvotes

I have a dog that I like to take out with me. He’s been in The Upstairs a few times before and can handle the noisy and crowded atmosphere very well. I’m a bit timid and don’t approach people very well so I use him as a means for starting conversations and meeting people. I would like to know of some other businesses (if any) that are okay with (well behaved) dogs that are social hangouts.

I use him to help with my social anxiety. He is not a service dog and I don’t claim him as one. He’s just well-trained.

Donating items for children

Greetings!! I have lots of baby/toddler items, all nice and in good condition that I would love to donate to an organization that will disperse to those who need it. I have boy and girl clothing ranging from 2T-5T, a freestanding gate system, a crib, lots of toys, etc. I do not want to drop off to goodwill as I do not support their business model and don’t really have time for a yard sale nor am I looking to profit off these items. If you know of anyone who may be able to use such items send them my way as well. Thank you!

Edit: I very much appreciate all the helpful recommendations!!! May you all have the best Tuesday ever!! 😃

Election Day is Next Tuesday! Get your ballot ready at Vote411 & early vote if you can!

We’re one week out from Election Day! For anyone doing last minute research, I know it can be hard to find quality resources, especially on state & local races so I wanted to suggest a great place to start.

To see all the races that will be on your ballot in one place, along with information on the candidates, I highly recommend Vote411.org

It is a site run by the League of Women Voters—a group that has long been a reliable source of non-partisan election information. Every election, they send questions to all candidates to compile into guides for voters—and the overwhelming majority of candidates participate!

Their site makes it easy to find out what your candidates stand for. You simply enter your location to see your custom ballot with information on all of the races. You can read through candidate responses, select the candidates that you like, and when you’re done you can send your finished ballot to your phone or email.

If you are in Bloomington you can vote early all this week and on the Monday before Election Day at 501 N. Morton.

They are open from:
8 am-6 pm M-F
9 am-4 pm Sat. Oct 31
9 am-12pm Mon. Nov 2

If you can’t vote early, make sure you are ready to vote on Tuesday November 3rd & know where your polling place is. (You can find this on Vote411 too!)

Happy voting people! Get out there!

midterms voting guide??

I’m not the best when it comes to researching each individual that shows up on the ballots/knowing who will even be an option, so I’d like to hear what everyone thinks about candidates, or how people responded to the vaguely worded questions towards the end.

I’m more left leaning!! But I hate voting straight democrat, because I know that’s not always a good idea since some people may be better than others, and I know some republicans like to run as a dem to try and get voters.

Can any BT bus regulars help me out?

Post image
10 Upvotes

I was hoping to catch the 1 bus on 10th St and then switch to the 4W at the station. Obviously the 1 (red) isn’t going to make it all the way north and back to my stop on schedule (2 minutes). Does anyone know if the 1 gets so behind that it skips entire loops? If so is there anywhere to keep up with when that happens? Should I be using a different app?

Best places to work as a CNA in Bloomington that are not a nursing home?

Just wondering if anyone here has insight about good places to work as a CNA, I know, sometimes hospitals can often under staff CNA’s, but unfortunately, I’m not finding much clarity online about the ratios at these healthcare facilities. Which is honestly what makes or breaks the job.

So if anyone does know, even just a little info would be appreciated, thank you so much.

Fullerton Pike

Does anybody know or have a link to whatever is going on with Fullerton Pike (again)?

They finally got the road opened up again, only to close it further down the way. Looks like the area just passed the round about by the library down to Rockport is closed.

I’m from northwest Indiana and have always gone to County Line Orchard but I’m not sure if the Bloomington area as anything like that here. Preferably a place that isn’t just a pumpkin patch and sells things like treats and apple cider!

South Liberty Drive Resurfacing to Bring Overnight Lane Restrictions Oct. 29–30

The City of Bloomington will resurface South Liberty Drive from West Third Street to the end of the City-maintained roadway on Thursday, Oct. 29 and Friday, Oct. 30, weather permitting.

The work will take place overnight from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. and will be performed by Milestone Contractors as part of the City’s annual pavement maintenance program.

South Liberty Drive will remain open during construction, but motorists should expect temporary lane restrictions, flagging operations and brief delays. Access to businesses and properties along the roadway will be maintained, although brief interruptions may occur as crews complete paving operations.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling through the construction zone, follow posted signage, and allow extra travel time.

The City of Bloomington appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as these improvements are completed to help maintain and improve the City’s roadway infrastructure.

For the latest information on road, sidewalk, and parking restrictions, visit bloomington.in.gov/inroads. For questions or additional information, please contact the City of Bloomington Public Works - Street Division at 812-349-3448.

THE AVENUE ON COLLEGE - 3 BEDROOM - $725.95/MONTH - AVAILABLE NOW.

🏠 PRIVATE BEDROOM + PRIVATE BATHROOM — NO ROOMMATES!

I’m looking to sublease my fully furnished 3-bedroom apartment at The Avenue on College in Bloomington. The floor plan is “The Three.”

⭐ The best part: Although it’s a 3-bedroom apartment, you would have the entire place to yourself! I am currently the only person living in the apartment, so there are NO OTHER ROOMMATES.

Your lease/sublease would include:

🛏️ Private bedroom

🚿 Private bathroom

🛋️ Fully furnished

🧺 In-unit washer & dryer

🏠 Spacious 3-bedroom floor plan

🚫 No roommates

This is a great option for someone who wants the space and amenities of a 3-bedroom apartment without having to live with roommates.

📩 Message me if you’re interested or want more details!

Personal injury attorneys

Hey guys! I figured this might be a good place to ask if there are any good personal injury lawyers in town or up in indy. I got hit by a car while riding my back about a year ago and my medical treatment is finally over, I have permanent damage that I’m hoping to get paid out for, but I don’t know who to go to so that I don’t get ripped off. Everyone knows about the Nunn’s but are they shady or is there someone better?
