Im currently on a 5050 laptop with a ryzen 7 250, and im on cachyos-sources 7.2.9 kernel. I heard some people talk about how the 7.3 version is still not in great shape, just wondering if i should wait until they release a better version.

Is there anyway that I would be able to install cachyos onto my Samsung tablet? I’m very curious on how it would work and I feel like it would be a fun challenge.

My CPU is v4 capable and I don't understand why there is no mesa in cachyos-v4 repository (and there is in cachyos-v3 ??), so my mesa driver is updating from cachyos repository, but the version there is stucked at 26.2.4 while all other repos has already 26.2.5. In Arch extra repo there is already 26.2.5 so why it doesn't update from there? Can anyone explain how does it work?

With the discussions of EAC becoming more linux friendly and CachyOS making an option for kernel level AC, what is the one game you would pick up immediately if it makes its kernel anti-cheat work on Linux?

I'll start with a game I pray never comes to Linux. League of Legends. I hope to all that is holy that Riot has some phobia of Linux users for forever because if that game comes over here, then I know for a fact my addiction will return with a vengeance, and I have finally had a year of being able to sleep properly, something I haven't had in quite awhile XD

I'm not sure what to say here, but my system all of a sudden broke while I was playing Subnautica 2. First the lockscreen broke, then I tried restarting KDE and that failed. I tried restarting my computer but it'd lock up as soon as plasmalogin loaded, none of the TTY's would work, so I decided to chroot from my live USB to run a pacman update. I got this when I tried running it: fish: Job 1, 'pacman -Syu' terminated by signal SIGBUS (Misaligned address error). I am kinda at a loss of what to do.

Im one of those people who uses Windows, but every now and then feels the urge to switch back to Linux - and then switch back again. Right now Im still missing the full range of features when it comes to Game Pass (I know Xodus does a great job).

The question thats giving me a headache right now: Is it possible to convert NTFS to BFS without constantly copying data back and forth?

Yeah so just as the title says, and I don't want to love it. But I'm, loving it.
So as I said I do Game Development primarily on Windows in Godot, Unity, and Unreal. But recently, I though I needed a break from Windows. And given the OS was already deteriorating from 3+ years of projects and work. I thought I'd just see what was I was missing and download Arch Linux.

This post is just to get feedback from the community on if I made a good choice (posting this in a CachyOS subreddit probably would sway towards good ). But also I came to ask a few questions on software and programs I should get to make Hyprland / Waybar look good, and on what I can / can't download on linux ( like adobe software )

So I’m not sure where the issue is, I added a new M2 ssd 1Tb my old one is only 250 and it was obviously not enough.

Bios can choose the new one as bootable, but when I am in cachyos I dont find it.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Recently had a weird issue where I shutdown my PC and my monitors turn off yet the fans and lights inside my PC still run. Was just wondering if this is a common issue? Had no problems turning it back on again after the fact but have been having to use the button to turn it off whenever this decides to happen.

Anyone know how to map this button to bring up steam home in cachy handheld edition? Spent 2 hours last night trying with input plumber and terminal commands wont do anything, tried rebinding it to keyboard as well, as far as I know in input plumber this is mapped as quick access menu 2 but I’ve tried the other quick access source also no luck, also tried F14,15 and 16 won’t do anything. Device name is MSI CLAW EX 8ai+ with the g3e chip

EDIT: Got it to work with chatgpt, inputplumber was expecting key_F15 and key_g and is only outputting g change mkdir -p /etc/inputplumber/capability_maps.d

My screen is OS as if it's bigger than my visual OS. As I move my mouse, it move the screen around as if extending my OS is bigger than my visual screen. When I have my mouse at the middle of the screen, I can't seen any sides. As I move my mouse up, right, down, left, it shows everything.

What is this and how do I disable it?

TL;DR: If you're getting random freezes, memtest your EXPO profile and try disabling global C-state control in your BIOS.

I've been running CachyOS for a few months now and overall it's been great. I like to tinker, so it's a good fit. I mainly use it as a daily driver for YouTube, web browsing, and quite a bit of gaming (007 First Light has been smooth as butter).

Recently I moved and had to store my PC for a few weeks. The CMOS battery must have drained or something, because my BIOS settings got reset. No biggie, I just re-enabled EXPO and booted back up.

Then I started getting random hard freezes in a couple of scenarios. First, it would lock up during regular browsing, and the only fix was a hard reset. Later, I'd see freezes on the lock screen, or the PC wouldn't wake from sleep. Troubleshooting revealed my memory was failing MemTest. My heart sank. The RAM kit is still under warranty, but I was super frustrated.

I tested a bunch of configurations (EXPO off, individual sticks in different slots, BIOS update) and figured out the profile was the problem. There were two, and I'd picked an unstable one by accident. That fixed the freezes during regular use, but not the lock screen ones.

So I kept digging until I remembered another BIOS setting. Back on Windows I'd disabled C-states, hoping it would help with coil whine (turns out the whine was coming from the GPU). The BIOS reset put that setting back to default, so I disabled C-states again to test, and voila! No more freezes on the lock screen for the past couple of weeks, and the PC sleeps as expected.

Definitely a rollercoaster bouncing between troubleshooting and spiraling over potentially needing to RMA the RAM. Figured if other people were experiencing similar issues I would just share what worked for me.
