Holiday-themed Cakes A cute ghost cake, all buttercream!
I love how this turned out, it's super cute!! My friend thought it was fondant so that was a good compliment ☺️

I’m going to post and sticky this link RinLongFlowers as a guide for florals on cake.
Recently we have seen a few cakes with florals that were not appropriate for cakes, and subsequently, flags to ban them for using toxic flowers.
Not only is this sub to show off our beautiful work, it is also to learn from and teach each other. Mistakes, no matter how big or small, are an opportunity to learn.
We are all at different levels of ability in this art. Please be kind.

My daughter’s request was “purple frosting and cute, spooky stuff.”

I've really gotten into baking this year, including attempting to get better at decorating. I was happy with how my Aunt's birthday cake turned out.
The guidance I was given was "strawberry".
I tried the reverse creaming method for the first time and found the vanilla cake itself was delicious. It was rich like a pound cake but not too heavy.
I made strawberry compote for the filling. I portioned out some of the swiss buttercream and flavored it with powdered freeze dried strawberries. The powder was also used to flavor and color the white chocolate drip.
The cake was a hit, even with someone who typically avoids cake with any fruit components. His praise was pretty rewarding. 🙂

For my 44th birthday (on 24 Oct), I made a Red Velvet cake with Marshmallows Cream Cheese frosting. The cake sheet came out great, and my family liked it overall. (Although layering was a bit uneven) 😂

While baking has ALWAYS been a no brainer for me, cake decorating has not - I’ve been at it for about a year now, making cakes for friends and loved ones birthdays as practice.
My bff turned 31 and this is what I whipped up. I thought it was pretty good for my first time, even after hitting it more than once on the stand carrier.

Not sure the best place to post about this, but thought I’d try here. I now handle all dessert/cake inquiries for my company’s catering “branch”, mostly doing wedding cakes and dessert bars. We offer a dessert “bar” that is based off of alcoholic drinks(the program was created before I joined) and I have an order for it coming up.
Issue is, I’m not sure what the best way to transport them is. Preferably they would be made before delivery, as I do all my deliveries by myself and can have 2-5 deliveries in one day, leaving little time for set up. I was thinking of either getting glass cleaning crates(that restaurants use), though those take up a lot of storage room and I won’t be making these often. My o try er idea was like a foam grid that I’ve seen before but can’t find now that I’m looking. Any suggestions on what would be best?
Attached a picture of what the dessert “bar” is

I put off making a cake for a family member but even procrastination and little effort I feel pretty good about how things are progressing…

I’m a newbie and am trying to work on my decorating skills. The baking part is a bit more challenging due to living at 7,600 ft. In elevation, but I baked a “practice cake” a week ago and the actual cake worked pretty well. I learned to NOT use convection at altitude because it will rise more in the back than in the front and opening the door to rotate it 1/2 way through is not an option. I also learned NOT to try to smooth the frosting once you have refrigerated it. Happy to receive constructive criticism.

I’m a grocery store decorator, this cake was a great chance to practice some different piping! We get a lot of requests for vintage style of varying difficulty, I was pretty happy with this one.

Pleasantly surprised at how this turned out considering my airbrush machine’s tube got cut in half & I had to tape it back together to get it to work lol

I made this for a Halloween party with my friends! The colors in the picture aren’t what they look like in real life. How the heck do you guys do shells? I have such a hard time with them. I had a lot of fun decorating this even though it was stressful lol

No one told me how hard icing is!

I’ve never made a cake and decorated it before. My sister in law was begging for the split Max and Ruby cake for her birthday. After some brainstorming I decided to give it a go but told her she might end up with a grocery store happy birthday cake.
It was half chocolate fudge and half rainbow chip.

A client wants a Gothic coffin-shaped Nightmare Before Christmas style cake but with whipped frosting as the recipient doesn't like heavy icing. How in the world can it be both of those things at once if you can't get whipped frosting dark?
Anyone have any experience with this?

these are all the cakes i’ve ever baked, over a period of years though. the first two in 2020, second in 2024 and the last one yesterday. in all of these years i never thought i’d make a cake look this good lol.
there are obviously a lot of mistakes and even more room for improvement, but for my fourth cake, i’m pretty chuffed with myself.
